✅ Rock, Paper, SPARK: How Much Can a Bobcat Toolcat Lift? Lift Capability for Boulder, Tree & Car

Demonstrations of a Bobcat Toolcat 5600 lifting various heavy objects. I call it "Rock Paper Spark" since I lift a boulder, tree log and then attempt to lift my Chevy Spark car as the grand finale. Which one do you think "wins"? The Toolcat is rated at 1500lbs and thats using the SAE J818 standard which effectively measures how much weight can go in the std bucket at full lift height before the rear tires come off the ground (ie "tipping load"). Then for skids steers and toolcats, 50% of that tipping load is the Rated Operating Capacity (ROC). For compact track loaders its 35% of tipping load (but tipping load is normally higher for a CTL due to larger footprint of tracks vs tires).

That was AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for the demo. I was nervous when you said you were going to lift sparky because of a comment I made but with a little bit of counter weight I think this will be the perfect machine for me. Bobcat should be giving you a commission check soon!

Haha, great video. I tried to lift a 55 Desoto without the motor and trans last fall and it just lifted half at a time!

That tree was definitely an ash log. Get a good look at that distinctive bark, and you'll be able to pick them out easily. They grow straight often times as well. Good firewood. Dries quickly and looks great split.

Awesome videos Nate! IMO the Toolcat is the coolest machine ever made. I had a 13 and now I have a 20 and Im amazed every time I use it. I have foam filled turf tires and that helps a ton with lifting capacity's.

It worked! Spreads out the load so I didnt bend anything on the underside of the car.

Great video / demo. How is it going across hills and how steep are you comfortable with when mowing?

I don't have any crazy side slopes I go on but others have found Toolcats very stable. You can also use the crab steering to still drive straight sideways but the body is slightly diagonal to help with stability. I use mine to unload pallets of feed 2000pounds each . I can move them around the shop and put them a gooseneck stock trailer that’s not too high to lift. But if I tried to lift them with the machine on the ground and lift them out of the back of a semi from that height it is too high if I take 10 bags off put them in the bed of the tool Cat. That makes it 1600 pounds and a counter balance with the bags in the bed. Especially if I take 10 off of the next one and then I have 20 in there that’s even better.

Hey Donnie, mine can lift 2k from a semi. Is yours older than 2009? Early ones cant lift as much.

@@NaterTater If my Machine is on the ground level and I have to reach out approximately 4 feet to get that 2000 pound pallet now it will tip . Mine is a 2011

I worked at a building supply for many years. The forklifts we used to load and offload trucks on asphalt were perfect. We had the occasional lift where two or even three forklifts were needed. You drive these same forklifts in gravel or dirt and all bets are off. The way I see the Toolcat's job is getting fork liftable items to the truck. A toolcat might be able to get one pallet of fruit on a truck but you're are not gonna get four or five pallets on a truck. Unlike all other equipment...Toolcats can bring two pallets at a whack to the loading site where all others bring one. That is the value I see.
