Hi Mike, great video as always! I agree with you about the RCP 2...great unit with some room for growth. One note. I heard the latency in my headphones just as you did, initially. Now that I've updated the fw to the official 1.0.7 release I am not hearing it. Either I've gotten used to it and am not noticing it now or they fixed it. Thanks again Mike!

Update, I couldn't get Bluetooth phone calls to work well at consistently good volume going to caller, and the entire interface would lock up so badly that I had to bounce the power to get it back. I returned it. Had the latest firmware, which at the time I thought was free of such issues.

For customization, It’d be interesting as well to be able to change the name and icon of each input (our own icons) and still have in the input settings a reminder that it corresponds to the physical input it was originally named after… Also I think they should made the RODE Central app compatible with Linux. Awesome video Mike. I too have a mixer, mic processors, multiple audio inputs etc and a multitude of cables in my home Internet Radio setup and will be looking at getting the RPC2 to replace them all. The mixer cover is a smart move as one of my bugbears is forever dusting out the mixer's channels and buttons and I have a Decksaver cover on my Pioneer DDJ2 controller which has kept it looking clean like new from day one. As others have asked it would be great to get follow-up videos on the best settings for all the different features of the RPC2. Keep up the great work.

Wow, fantastic video recommendation for the Rodecaster Pro II, almost made me reach for the buy button online immediately. 🙂 The best thing with this video is that it gives some real pointers on what a pro creator uses to create the content they put out. The fact the Rode can replace nearly 99% of what you use today is a phenominal endorsement. I'm a complete newbie so still learning, but the flexibility and ease of use that you demonstrate in this video has literally blown me away. Did Rode come up with any of your suggestions in a firmware update since you made this video? Thanks again for such a great video.

19:29 Back when I was on the original RODECaster Pro I asked the same thing about the looped audio on the pads. I don't know if it was ever fixed. This goes back to a service request added on November 6, 2020. My response from RODE was: "Thank you for your reply! We will definitely look into this and recommend keeping an eye on social channels for any possible updates." This was one of the reasons I went to the GoXLR. Kind of sad to hear it hasn't been fixed.

Toyed with buying one of these purely from reading reviews first, which I usually do. After watching this though, no brainer. I do a bit of everything from digital music production with various DAWs and Audio/Video packages (Adobe, Soundforge etc) to Techno mixing/DJ'ing (both old skool turntables and DJ controllers with spinning platters of course cos i'm old) and I simply love anything audio and video. I have the H5n you have as well as the H6n and a Roland. Same with mainly action cams too. I do really need a recommendation for a DSLR for a stationary setup (no, not pencils and paper) ;) Sadly, you won't find much of anything on my channel as I worry about the whole "12 years ago Jamie said this at the time, perfectly acceptable in context word, so now he must ne retroactively punished for it" although as the digits flip on my age counter I start to worry less and less about this due to career as some of the content I do produce can cover issues of privacy etc. Basically, love audio, video and music creation but hate the fact it can and is used as a stick to beat people with now, let alone the coming future. I just found your channel today. You got a new sub and made my bank balance take a multi hundred £ hit so cheers for that. In a way you also screwed yourself over because I don't have any money left to give you and pay the soon to be astronomical heating/food bills. Just good i'm one of those fussy eaters who, in human terms would probably be classed more like a mouse, nibbling at snacks when I find them (5 second rule). Keep it up though. I like your style. There's probably hundreds or thousands of comments on this so I have probably wasted 10 minutes thinking about all this crap. It would have been easier to make a video with my

I've just decided to take the plunge and chuck out a D&R Airlite and DBX 286s amongst other stuff. The Airlite's built in interfaces have been cracking like mad too with random clicks and pops on the audio. So I've ended up putting analogue interfaces back in. And then they play up. Anyway, it's all going for a Rodecaster Pro II so to see you've done exactly the same thing seriously reassures me!

@MikeRussell sounds like a really cool device. I would really love to test it out, but unfortunately, I don’t think I would be able to use it, since there seems to be lots of options and stuff you have to select, and for me that wouldn’t be very accessible. So for the time being, I would just have to stay with my analog equipment, which has knobs and stuff which I can actually turn and buttons I can actually feel. Plus, it is out of my budget range, and I’m not sure if you have to see the screen in order to select different options.

Occasionally I do a live event where we need 4 mics for the guests but a separate mic for either a host or walking around taking Q&A questions from an audience. Great review Mike. As an user of the original RCP, there are several things that I didn't like in the new unit. First of all the original RCP much more podcast oriented, not all around gear. It's bigger, with 8 faders not 6, and it's have the blessed TRRS input that the current is lacking. The new RCP 2 certainly have updated capabilities, but I still prefer the original. Good job Mike.

Faders are re-assignable in RCP 2. Do you always use ***8 faders*** simultaneously, that you must adjust in real time ? RCP 2 has 3 virtual faders. So 9 total faders (at this time) "certainly have updated capabilities" : yes, you can tell it like that :) The list of improvements and differences is really impressive (and in constant evolution)
@IdoDavid
@IdoDavid Жыл бұрын
@@photographiezautrement personally, I like physical measures instead of virtual. I understand your point. The original RCP has the correct sizes and proportion, the new one got smaller and slimmer. Again it's a matter of personal experience, and taste if you like.

MIke.....I thought you'd be interested in my experience thus far with the RCP2. I purchased my first unit about 2 weeks ago and have had to return because the larger 'volume knob' is not operating. It's clearly off it's track and will hardly turn. The second unit I purchased arrived with several issues in assembly. First, the touch screen monitor wasn't properly seeded in its housing. I carefully centered it and pressed on it and it seems to be back in place. A second issue was the metal behind the faders rubbing on the faders when they were adjusted. Again, after pressing down on the entire plate in several places, it seems to have snapped back into position. The build quality on the RCP2 units is inferior to that of the RCP1 in my opinion. I love the new features but this thing feels like it will break if you sneeze at it the wrong way. As I told Rode in my email, I would gladly pay another $100-$200 USD for a "Pro" unit. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Also, please pass along to Rode if you have their ear.

The Video is informative and well presented. The Audio in this presentation is it directly recorded from RodeCaster Pro and uploaded? The volume is very good with the punch in the voice profound. If you have used further processing after the Audio output from Rodecaster, can you kindly share it with the viewers? Thanks

Thanks for your quick response and you have inspired me to know more on the subject. I have Rodecaster Duo which is identical to RODECaster ProII as you know and I experimenting recording on Mac Mini 2. I am not getting the level of volume as in your presentation. Can you kindly share as to how to reach the same Audio level as in your KZfaq presentation? I record using Audacity (some times on Audition). Your guidance will help me a lot. Thank you!@@MikeRussell

@@MikeRussell Also I would like to add that I completely agree with all of your feature requests. I hadn't even tried looping audio on the smartpads yet, so that's good to know. I know you probably didn't want to get into it in the video itself, but may I ask what firmware version you were running when you recorded this? I just pulled down 1.0.7 beta firmware just the other day, but haven't had a chance to really test through it yet due to schedule. So anyway, just curious.

Hi Mike! I just got this caster pro II recently. May I ask you a question? Is it normal to have the very noticeable "hiss" sound on this device? when I took the fader volume up even there's no mic on that channel? I put my mic on channel 3 and every channel have the hiss including my mic all channel can hear the hiss when the fader hits above about 30% (set to about 50dB) is this normal? becase lower the gain would lower the hiss, will I get better using a condenser mic? since it doesn't need so much gain... I tried putting my mic into a closet and I'm pretty sure it's not only just ambient noise.
@MikeRussell

There shouldn’t be a noticeable hiss on a channel with nothing connected to it.
@IndigoVikingTV

I got one and I have a white noise hiss with nothing plugged into it except power and my headphones. Actually, if you mute all the channels it will be dead quiet, but then unmute your MIC 1 channel and you will hear the hiss. Same with any other MIC channels. I had to return mine because of it, too much noise I couldn't isolate/remove :(

Mike I'm a streamer on Twitch. Is it be able to do virtual channel routing so I can assign them to OBS. I like to have independent control of system sounds, Spotify, stream notifications sounds, game audio, Web browser audio. Currently I use virtual cables to do ALL the above. Will the Procaster cater for all of that?

I was looking at the Rodecaster Duo, but no HI Z for Bass and Electric Guitars. The Rode does seem the most intuitive of these new class of mixers. Do you have any recommendations?
@MikeRussell
@MikeRussell 6 ай бұрын
While the Rodecaster Pro II does offer impressive features for podcasting and voice recording, it may not be the best choice for handling bass and electric guitars due to its lack of a high impedance input. For recording those instruments, consider exploring mixers with dedicated HI Z inputs, such as the Presonus StudioLive series or the Mackie ProFXv3.

I heard the unit has enough power with a such low noise that you don't need to use lifters like CL-1 and DM1. For people who use SHURE SM7B's and other low gain mics will save a lot of money on that as well. Rode really stepped up with this one IMHO.
