Whitney was amazing, but it's so annoying how people put her up on this untouchable pedestal that supposedly no one in history will ever reach... Like c'mon, let's get with reality. There have been other extraordinary vocalists since Whitney who are every bit as vocally talented. Whitney was the best from mid 80's to mid 90's, but that doesn't make her some untouchable talent for all time😂

Exactly. She was one of the best singers of all time. In a time where you had to actually have talent and couldn't rely on a computer to make you sound better. So naturally, when you record a new song it's your first time singing it. As you live with it you get more comfortable with it over time and learn how to make it age like wine and get better. Many artists of today never even sound as good as their album version because the album version isn't really them.

What's not widely known is how Whitney came to sing this song. On the set of the movie "The Bodyguard", the producers gave it to her and asked her to sing it. She had never heard it before. Dolly's version did just OK on the country billboards earning her around 70k. Whitney's version earned Dolly over 10 million, of which she never gave Whitney a single dollar.

Her voice was from Heaven alone, her beauty was also from Heaven alone. How did God, or why did God make, such a beautiful lady with the best voice known to mankind? Because He wanted the rest of us to know that even the most beautiful and talented can stumble and fall also. We need to know He is our Saviour and He is the only Supreme Being while the human race can never be supreme no matter how beautiful, how talented, how wealthy, how privileged, how powerful we are.

@@maykon_ferrariof_ kkkkkkkkkkk chega a ser engraçado. Beyonce tem que comer muito, mais muito arroz com feijão pra chegar a ao menos perto da Whitney. As comparar é totalmente desnecessário.

She is Whitney and Aretha is Aretha. Why ppl always make a dumb comment like this. Stop comparing they are both legends in their own right.

there are hundreds of opera singers living today that are better "singers" than she was. the thing that set her apart was the tone of her voice.

@@user-kx1yo9nw2d Gospels singers and opera singers use the similar techniques. its not just her tone. You quite literally cant have the best voice if its just your tone…..She can sing opera but can opera singers sing gospel??? No😹

+Aaron Thompson Mariah's wouldn't be able to access her head voice considering she uses mostly falsetto. Also in the climax of the song, her mid belts would not be as rich and resonant as Whitney's powerful, full voice. Plus Whitney's vibrato is more prominent than Mariah's. Mariah is good, but I don't think this song is structured for her voice, well at least in the sense that it would outdo Whitney's version. But same can be said vice versa. I wouldn't be expecting Whitney to be able to sing Vision of Love like Mariah.
