I remember in 2013 when I bought my first Rolex, the AD had every sports model in steel available in the display case. Even a “Hulk.” Oh how times have changed.

i went with the black an couldn't be happier. everytime i look at the white, i get bored fast.

My first reaction was that the black looked better, but over the years I favor the white. I think if you already have something like a black sub or explorer, the white daytona is a great choice

The contrast of the white dial (not a panda no matter how much people want it to be) grabs more attention, but the black dial has more visual mass. The black lacquer dial spills out and over the bezel lending more wrist presence. I also like how the brushed subdial rings match the brushed outer links of the bracelet. I believe the overall design to be more cohesive in the black variant and that would be my pick if I had the choice. Which I do not.

Black it is ! Mostly thanks to Jean-Paul Belmondo. He would wear one in most of his movies so this watch has been pretty much "inceptionned" into me ;)

The black is the nicer one. The white is all about the hype and trending value increase. All else equal, the black wins hands down. For the Zenith models, I would say the opposite.

Black for me. I think the white dial is a tad feminine IMO. I still think it’s a speculator watch but the black just hits the spot for me. The ceramic bezel blends better with the dial

I love the increased visibility and appearance of most white dial watches (so long as the hands are a suitable color). But it's pretty funny as I don't like watches with a black dial and bezel for the same reason mentioned in this vid lol - it's too repetitive, in my personal style. But with that said, I don't like the fact that white dial watches are slightly more eye-catching to *other* people around... But I do *love* the fact that since it's more eye-catching to others, it's far more visible for you to tell the time accurately and quickly! My current piece isn't white dialed, but luckily enough, it has a tegimented silver/black bezel/dial combo =).

Great video. I’ve got both the white and the black ceramics and I only wear the white and the black stays in its box. For this generation of steel Daytona’s I just overalls prefer the white.

Black Daytona is so much nicer. White version is too toothpaste white. Should have been light silver. Also love how the light catches the sub-dials on the black version. That doesn't happen on the white one.

White is short term. Black is long term. The watch has enough bling on it's own.

I have both the two-tone black dial (2020) Daytona, AND the ceramic Panda dial! Love them both, for different reasons, but equally because they’re Daytona watches.. only Patek can catch my eye other than these. Good video guys

Tried on the white and it didn’t really do it for me. Too clinical somehow. The black is more understated and cool. Wouldn’t kick either out of bed however.

I’ve owned a dozen Rolex watches from the 1950s all the way through to the modern era. Both sport and dress watches. The only watch I get consistent compliments on is my steel, ceramic panda. Not to say that wouldn’t happen equally with the black; and also, I bought the white dial because I liked and couldn’t care less if I get compliments (in fact, when strangers compliment me and realize it’s a Rolex I tell them it’s fake so they don’t follow me to the parking lot 🤣). But I think you can’t go wrong with either dial color. But there’s just something about the classic black on white contrast that knocks it outta the park for me.

The contrast on the Panda is inconsistent because the hour batons blend into the dial. they require black lacquer like the Polar. White dials do not harness brightness of the luminosity for as long overnight as the black one. "Black on black" is no issue with the Submariner et.al. Both models are not as legible as some other brands. If Rolex did not limit the production, most folk would not be so interested in the aesthetics of this model. You made a rarer quality video that was not another pointless one of comparing masterpieces with apples with pears.

After owning the black dial I also sold it for the white dial. The black like you said looks very classy but too much black going on. The white has a beautiful contrast to it and like you said can be dressed up and down. The black always felt in my opnion to be a more dressy option. Great video and photos btw!

Vey interesting and informative video. I agree that the white dial Daytona looks better simply because it is more legible. However it is very sad that all sports Rolexes are almost impossible to buy new from an AD and that the pre-owned market has rocketed to silly levels. Those sort of premiums would get you into a precious metal Rolex or another prestige brand like an AP with its Royal Oak and possibly into a pre-owned Patek (non-Nautilus or Aquanaut). Rolex watches are expensive in the first place when you compare to other Swiss brands like Omega who make fine accurate in-house movements and great looking watches. Breitling too. And if you can get over the ego of the Rolex badge/crown then other Swiss brands like JLC, IWC, Vacheron, TAG or even Ball & Co (my current favourite for choice and price) or even micro brands - many of which use fantastic Swiss ETA/Valjou movements - are much better value for money, very well made and innovative. And frankly less copied and more distinctive. I have several Rolexes and love them. But I bought them all before the recent massive surge in premiums. I'd love another but I won't pay a silly premium. I don't know if post lockdown Rolex will supply ADs properly. It's in the brands interest to keep prices high. It's a shame as it will exclude may genuine watch fans who don't have deep pockets. I'd like everyone who simply bought one to sell on at a high premium to catch a cold and the market resettle itself. After all it is a watch to wear and enjoy not trade. But that's capitalism for you. Thanks anyway for the discussion. Good luck finding your Daytonas. There's a long queue in front of you!

In your honest opinion do you believe a 6 digit professional model like the 126710BLNR/BLRO will be worth more or less in 10 years?I like the ability to get my money back if I ever wanted to. On the one hand, they’re hard to get sports models which will eventually be discontinued. On the other hand, eventually the hype can die down with many people having one and that will bring price down. Same question on the 126610LV (new Kermit) and the all steel Daytona. Thank you!

The black on white is a winner in my opinion, just an absolute stand out for me!

White looks more appealing when off the wrist but when on the wrist doesn’t look as nice as the black. I ended up getting the black. And the white also looks better on my wife.
