the last and most professional Rolex travel tool-watch, yet less-hyped.. with same Cal.3285 as the GMT-II, im glad to have the Black dial in 2021 at its 50th year.. No other comes close to it.. 🕺🎉🍻

It may have been originally designed for spelunking with an am/pm indication, but now with a quick set hour hand that is detached from the 24hr hand - it is a full GMT watch. (With a non rotating bezel - as many GMTs are).

I bought the previous model (216570) in 2020 and I had the option to choose between the two dial variants. Back then I decided Polar dial because I personally did not like the "floating hands" on the black dial. Right now, with the newest model, I am so very attracted to the black dial I'm even considering to buy that one too! But that would be crazy, right? Tell me that I'm crazy, so I don't do it!!! :D

I have white one, i used to have older model in black 215670 and i sold it to my brother, beacause that was only watch he liked from rolex, now thinking to get the black model to… Amazing watch!

I own both black ab$ polar 226570, my polar is still fully protected in plastic with barcode and all I wear it just like that no one can tell but I had a AD who notice it and thought I went grey new. I like both and couldn't decide so I got both to make sure to keep the right one two months later I can't decide.

Some said that the new 226570 bezel size is 41.4mm and a bit shorter male endlink to endlink at 52.8mm..? Thanks for the vid.

I wish they will go back down to 40mm. Instant level up! It’s an exploration watch after all why is it so big.

I think (1) Rolex made it 42 so it distinguishes from the 40 GMT Master II. Otherwise they are basically the same watch with different bezel, dial color, and GMT hands. (2) All companies use the same old design sequence that goes in circles once every 20 or so years (car company, fashion industry, all the same). Watch size go from small to large, then back to small again. There's already a trend for many watches to downsize from its large case size that was popular the last 5-7 years. More 36 to 39 sized watches will emerge in the next 10 years.

@Eugene Johnson For sure, the polar white Explorer II is in higher demand and also sells at higher price than the black dial on the secondary market.

I call BS on Rolex’s marketing trying to sell the Explorer II as a spelunking watch. (Hint: there aren’t that many spelunkers and even fewer who would where a Rolex.)

They mention that they equipped polar, mountaineering, and caving expeditions over many years, which is true. But they aren't trying to sell this as a spelunking watch today. They're just trying to sell it on rugged simplicity, reliabilty, legibility, and utility. No fancy colors, no precious metals.
