In this short series we make a small oval train set with a town and a countryside station.
Some of the fantastic mods in this series are buyer a Steam/ YT user called Globin347
Here's a link to his Rolling Line Assets
steamcommunity.com/profiles/7...
He also has a "Rolling Line Mod Livery Tutorial" on YT. If you're interested go have a watch.

You probably found out by now, but in case others don't know, when placing trains in custom drawers, you can flip the direction with the Q and E keys, and sometimes this can help give you a little better spacing. It's kind of a "try it and see" sort of thing.

I have been waiting ages for someone to do this sort of video. I want to build a model railway in Rolling line, so I hope you will continue the series. There are too many smashing trains together videos in rolling line.

Glad you liked the 1st ep. There's another 7eps already live, 3 more scheduled and two more in the editing stage. Looking where I'm at at the moment there might be around 20eps in total. The first episodes tackle the board and track building, then I add some scenery around back and at present I'm starting to build the town. The final eps will be detailing and adding the new AI system into layout. Each 40min ep is around 5hrs work inc editing so hopefully the final result will be worth it :-)

Hey, nice! I made some of those mods you showed off. I am quite pleased to see them in a video.

It always amazes me the sheer work that's put in creating mods and is something I certainly couldn't do. And Rolling Line's starting to get a good selection now making it a good time to start showing off the game. If you have a Steam link to your mods let me know it and I'll place a link in the description to them. Another ep will be later this week. The goal of the series isn't to make the most complex map but I do hope to show off what the game can do and inspire others much in the same way I do with the "Big Build" in Trainz.

@@bluewizard Honestly, one of the biggest selling points of rolling line is how easy it is to make mods for this game. If you know how to use blender, you can easily create a train mod or prop mod to use; the game has an incredibly simple import system.

Ok, it looks like I can't post any comments including links. On the rolling line workshop, my two main packs are "British Locomotive Pack 1", and "British Locomotive Pack 2". I also have an "A12 livery pack", which includes alternate textures for just one locomotive. Since all my train mods are UV Mapped to the same texture, you can apply those liveries to all the other locomotives in my packs. I have a tutorial video on youtube regarding how to do that; look for "Rolling Line Mod Livery Tutorial" on youtube and look for my name. That said, there are two systems for modding trains into rolling line; the older quickmod system, and the newer train mod system. My tutorial only covers items made with the new system. Also, I appear to have left out a few things in that tutorial video, so I'll need to make a new one at some point.

That is such a cute station! Very good start to this series! Also thank you for introducing me to this game. I was just looking for a good model train simulator and that's actually how I found your channel (I watched your overview video of various creative train games). This game looks like it's exactly what I was looking for, especially with all the mods!

Glad you enjoyed the 1st ep. It's a great little game. The controls can be a little tricky at times because it's a VR first game and it doesn't have key mapping which is a pity. But if you like this kind of game and once you get used to the controls it can be very enjoyable to play.

Great video I love this game, I have Parkinson’s and can’t concentrate on things I used to do, but rolling line keeps my attention. I’ll built a Version of real model I built but no longer have room for. I’m also working on earlstown junction a real railway in my home town. Keep up the good work

really feels like for assets that would be used with this software that there be a default scale value on each model so there was less eyeballing whether things are too big or too small. The trains and the track are of a certain scale, and if it's standard guage then the height of an average human figure would be known, and the size of a Volkswagen compared to a locomotive is known, and the width of a Volkswagen compared to the width of a road lane is more or less known (varies) and so on. I think each stage from the track up to the road and the car going over the bridge things were getting bigger because there was no standard default. The doors at the top of the stairs look 5 foot wide and the Volkswagen is as wide as a locomotive. If a model came with "this Volkswagen is (X, Y, Z) dimensions" and so on, everything that is a human object could default to proper scale with the track and trains. Unless you deliberately scaled it up or down for some effect, but you wouldn't have to work so hard to make everything look right.

Its hard to say why the sizes of modded assets vary so much and to be honest you'd need to ask the creators of the mods this question directly. They are all free though and so even if they aren't quite right I still applaud their efforts. The game wasn't ever designed to look like this, and they all did a great job with their creations. I suspect given time the game will add new different methods to add mods in and more will be added. The layout is far from perfect but overall I'm happy with how it turned out.

The amount of mods for the game is certainly growing. The latest update to the game allows tracks to look like roads. So I suspect we'll soon see moving cars also. Certainly a game to keep an eye on

This is a Windows game on Steam. I'm playing on a desktop. I7 8th gen, gtx1080 and 32gb ram. I have played this in my laptop which is a i5 11gen with integrated graphics and 8gb ram and it plays fine without mods.
