I came, I saw, I accidentally became Rome, I got really embarrassed with what I'd become, I buggered off.

Watching Jon struggle to create an empire out of a meme country with extreme restrictions was compelling. Watching Jon at full strength roflstomp the entire classical world with no handicaps would still be very compelling viewing. I'll watch every new Rome Remastered series from here to eternity.

I always hate it when the AI overwhelmingly targets the player rather then pursuing actual goals that would end up making them a fun threat late game. The worst incident was when I was playing EU4 and an Allie invited me to a defensive war, they didn't actually need help and there were several countries between me and the fighting area, so I thought why not? The AI enemy somehow managed to arrange a jagged military access treaty through 6 empires and kept on running into my massively larger armies while their own home was razed to the ground by an enemy they could have actually challenged. It gets tiring and destroys any immersion.

It feels like we just got the first ep, and here we are one the finally.

As much as I'd continue watching this series, I don't blame Jon for ending it. You have to remember he has to enjoy it too, and without any challenge, he probably just wouldn't find it fun.

This has a great narrative. Rare in total war that you give up your homeland to pursue your goals and can end on taking it back

This was genuinly a fascinating campaign, apparently chaotic, surprising but with a nice and fitting ending.

A fantastic series, just shows the sheer strength of mercs in rome 1, I don't think they've ever been as good as this in any other total war game!

i saw i came i went home again.

Loved the attempt at 1:00:30 to completely gloss over the sally where apparently everything went great except the sarmations went from 108 to 8 remaining and all of the ranged units seemed to have lost about half their men. But I see you, Jon. My pause button makes me more perceptive than you can imagine [imagine that with the Obi-wan voice]

The long tradition of Jon paying huge amounts of money for allies and then the allies using that money to buy a huge army and attack Jon continues.

The perception -1 of letting hoplites sneak up, uphill, on your cavalry and kill a general

Phalanxes are easy to beat, just make sure you have 2 units, one light with range to maneuver around as the front gives ground. Similarly have units to exploit breaks in lines as terrain slows part, allows 3 on 1 flank attacks with the front disengaged until they're turning

The Thracian peltasts fell before Cadia... I mean, before the wall did. This was a fun ride; I usually avoided most mercs, but now I have remastered, I might pay more attention to function than whether or not they're the cream of the crop.

I can confirm That Cretans are the best,as my favourite campaign was when Rome decided to attack Athens which I'd selected as my Cretan retraining centre.

Just finishing a run of Rome as the Brutii on Very Hard.. For some reason very few people except Thrace and Brittania have been attacking me. Dacia just stopped attacking, Gaul and Spain focused the Julii, Egypt and the Scipio didn't fight but had a staring contest over their border... Was a weird game. Trying to conquer the Julii with 20 years left in the campaign, Rome has fallen but looking a little dicey

That was a great story! The Dacian Senate ruled the world. I already miss Rome.

How much do I need to pay to get another series of this? I've always loved Jon and Rome.

I was sad that the KOTOR series was over and I’m bummed that this one is, too.

I'm torn. I never got around to playing ME, despite loving Bioware games and knowing how well loved the game is. Do I try to rush a playthrough now, or do I just experience the game fresh through Jon's eyes?

This wrapped up sooner than usual. Also the Greeks didn't declare war on you the same turn they broke the alliance. Perception -1 as usual.

I know you think it makes for less frustrating viewing, but there is this thing called a pause button. It's far less frustrating than watching units die unnecessarily. Also, clicking unit cards is faster than clicking or dragging on the actual battle map.

You think maybe this could continue in a live where Jon just steamroll over the rest of the world?

Nice, Germany survived, I think that I never fought Germany on the campaign map, it always got crushed because the auto resolve loves chariots.

Starts: Little tribal island in an unfriendly Balkan sea. First: Fires tribal militia, hires mercenaries. Second: Flees homeland. Gets into a punch-up with some Roman geezer wanting 'a piece of the action'. Third: Hires more mercs and conquers Sicily. Punches Rome in the face with a navy. Fourthly: Cretans arrive, and with cavalry and Illyrians chops Romans into salami slices! Fifthly: Gets ballsy with the Scythians, then Greeks turn up with big wooden horse. Sixthly: Throws navy at Hellenic upstarts. Seventhly: Goes home, and eats fresh Scythian horse meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Eighthly: Becomes Dacian Crassus, Byzantining his way through the changed geopolitical situation. Lastly: Has a cup of tea and a biscuit. *sighs

Question: At the end, when you turn the FoW off, on the minimap, in the far north-east corner. That pink is Parthia, isn't it? What the heck are they doing all the way up there?
