Pipistrel Alpha Trainer | Lesson 2 | Checkout Flight - Stalls & Circuits | ATC
Today, I get to take up the slick looking Pipistrel Alpha for another flight. The plan for today is to fly out to the training area and see how she stalls and recovers from unusual attitudes. After this, we'll head back to the airport and fly some circuits and simulated engine failures.

I originally received 30 hours of flying instruction 17 years ago and now I'm back in the cockpit and learning how to fly all over again.
Currently flying out of Wollongong (YWOL), Australia in light sport aircraft such as the Jabiru and Pipistrel alpha with Fly Illawarra. Also, flying out of Camden Class D (YSCN), Australia in the aerobatic Citabria with Curtis aviation.

This instructor is really good. He listens and pays attention to what the student is doing and then corrects and instructs the student as needed. Really good way to gradually build on the student's skills.

Hey Rich. Good video. Nice progress. Always a challenge in aviation for sure. One concern "Remove Before Flight" waving behind Bruce's head. A message there. !!! Maybe leave him behind next flight...LOL

wtr ofOz especially in the Alpha. The difference between this and the Citabria is night and day in so many aspects... its a challenge flying them both! You'll be shocked when you get to fly her!!

I fly a Pipistrel alpha trainer in Innisfail (IFL) we ALWAYS take the chute pin out!

Hey Rich. I just started flying with Bruce at Fly Illawarra. When you were doing the stall practice, did you feel as if you dropped any G’s when the nose dropped?

ledosh245 RBLX maybe a brief period weightlessness..that's about it. It was a pretty benign experience to be honest. Sometimes you can get a nice wing drop which makes it a bit more exciting but in the Jabiru it would just mush into the stall

Yea I fly the same plane as him, Alpha 8495 at home airport YWOL. Even after flying if you keep the cabin shut like we do then you do smell it, Smells like a boat Haha!

any chance you could lower the music volume in future videos? Turning the volume up to hear the conversation only to have extremely loud music come blasting through is extremely annoying and distracting. Having to constantly ride the volume control is even more annoyance. Background music belongs in the background. Hopefully you have learned this in the 6 years since you made these videos. BTW I enjoyed the video portion even though I was annoyed every time the music came blasting through so I probably won't watch any more.
