Here's a small woodturning project that takes no more than half an hour to make and is a guaranteed success as a gift ... Ronald Kanne makes a salt sprinkler/salt shaker from elm and maple. But in a way that you may not have seen before! And the person you give it to has no idea what he or she got.
About Ronald Kanne
Ronald is a wood turner in the Netherlands. He makes commissioned work and his own free work. And every week turns out to be a little too short to get all the work done... Hi Ronald, Lies. Thanks for sharing and it is just one of those little projects that suits me as a newbie. I might need to measure 52mm 52 times instead of eyeballing it... Like Lies camerawork as well! Very nice shooting with the close-ups. I wonder if we ever can hear her actually sing “the first cut is the deepest”, though. Looking for up-votes here... Take care!

Fascinating design. In English it's called a "salt cellar" (British) or "salt shaker" (American).

@@ronaldkanne I used some Bradford pair . I had to shorten the insert because it was a little long .. I had enough material but man it works great 👍 going to make a pepper shaker out of black walnut to match . It should work with course ground pepper . My love thought I was cool pretty sure it's hers mow 🤣

Cute little project that doesn’t involve a ton of expensive wood or extra tools. I guess the “funnel” shape helps ensure the salt goes INTO the shaker easily.

Hi Ronald, I've just made 2 of these, I'm fairly new to turning so these are great little projects to practice accurate turning. Your videos are such a pleasure to watch, you obviously enjoy what you do and sharing it with others. Hope you had a good Christmas and Happy new year to you and yours. (P.S I'm looking for some new floor standing speakers for my Hi fi, and recomendations from your experience in your other line of work?) Keep up the great work, I look forwards to the next installment.

Hi Nick, thank you for your kind words! I have no idea what are good floor speakers at the moment... :-) I am completely out of that business. We have worked a lot with Genelec, but I don't know if I would like to have these in my living room...

It works, but not as good as salt. Salt is a bit heavier then pepper...

Do you have a drawing that shows dimensions? Especially from the funnel to Bottom of the heart. Love your recordings. My wife’s family is of Dutch heritage.
