I saw Ronnie open for Alan Holdsworth in Toronto 35 years ago. I got a very important guitar lesson from him that night -- I learned how to put my heart and soul into every single note and translate that energy into stage presence and power. He TOTALLY held the audience in his hands.

I LOVE the way he bends and uses vibrato !!! Ronnie and Michael Schenker will make you weep openly LOL

Yes weep. Roy Buchanan and Gary Moore can also bring the tears.

Saw Gamma with Montrose and UFO with Schenker in 1981 at Day on the Green in California. Killer show... Gary Moore had the same emotional impact.

Steve Smith doing double duty on this tour, as Van Halen and Montrose were opening acts for Journey. Steve, seen here, drumming for Ronnie, then getting behind the kit again to promote the Infinity album. Mad respect for Ronnie, Steve, and everyone on that tour. Truly a great show.

One of Ronnie's greatest performances!! You want great guitar work ? It does not get much better then this!! I wore this album out when it was released in 1978. Ronnie Montrose is no longer with us but he sure was a class act all the way!

garry ford + Jeff Beck, Robert Plant were always drunk or high and their concerts were sketchy at best. Montrose was solid and infinitive. He was amazing beyond amazing. He refused to be Rat holed by producers & they got even by not promoting him and influencing radio to not allow him much air time. I was sold and in awe the first time I heard Town Without Pity. Then I wore out Gamma cassette & speakers.

Saw an earlier show, (74?) where they opened for Robin Trower. Jaw dropping show. Red Rocker at his birth. So much guitar work to enjoy. Beyond words...

I've been a fan of Ronnie Montrose since I first heard him with Van Morrison and Edgar Winter(Frankenstein). I played "ROCK THE NATION" and "BAD MOTOR SCOOTER" along with "PAPER MONEY" completely out. Then the mellower "RICH MAN" from the Album "JUMP ON IT"... and then this awesome show of the Guitarman's true talent! Amazing..

I hear something like this and it’s like Gary Moore and Jeff Beck mixed. Ronnie had his own hard blues style for sure.

Listen to that incredible power in his phrasing, with dynamics and melody way ahead of his time.

Awesome tone on his LP. I always loved his technical brilliance. The songs demands pull off galore and he delivers. RIP Ronnie, loved your concerts.

And I just realized, this was his finale and Eddie Van Halen had just blown the crowd away thirty minutes earlier. And Neil Schonn was on his way out. What a great night.
