The plaintiff says the defendant was her roommate, but he moved out after three months because he wanted more from their relationship than she did. She’s suing him for unpaid rent. The defendant says his former roommate was a bossy nag who brought home unruly guests. He denies owing her for anything.

Judge Mathis does the most to try to act like he caught someone lying like he's such a genius. This lady was so offended yet HE was the one that moved out. She let him sleep in her bed yet she was uncomfortable. They're both strange and don't make sense yet Mathis chooses to clown on one side he chooses. I just don't get how he chooses to clown around and when people get upset or partake in it he uses that to either scold them or rule on the case. Plus what happened to her responsibility to mitigate her damages as well. He clearly offered to pay to get his name off the lease and she didn't take that, she caused her own issues as well.

@@jennifersturges5011 did anyone dispute the fact that he walked out on the lease? I think I even mention that he left in my original comment. I wasn't disputing that fact. But that doesn't change the fact that she has an obligation to mitigate her damages. Many judges go over it when it comes to leases. They can't let a small problem build up into a bigger problem then sue for it. He offered to get his name off the lease, she refused. He, as well as her, had a responsibility to look for another roommate so she wouldn't be stuck holding the bag. And this leads to my second point. Mathis gets in his feelings to much. He chooses one side, just like he did here, even though both sides made absolutely no sense. She made all these claims olavout the defendant yet didn't ask him to leave? In fact he was the one who left, tou think she'd be happy after all he put her through according to her. But of course because Mathis chooses one side, he gets emotional instead of following the law. She had an obligation, by law, to mitigate her damages, as simple as that.

In California and as per their lease she has no responsibility on making things easier for him and as far as him paying to get out of the lease they read that part wrong. What the lease said was that they, he or she would have to pay 250.00 to terminate the lease on top of the yearly rent. They were not very smart. You're probably smart enough to figure out why she went on this show to begin with. So please don't take that comment towards anything you have said. Again it was not directed to you.

They squeezed these views out well. They mentioned back massages, sharing a bed together, and crazy ex boyfriends. However, they managed to mention the rent in the last 2 minutes. They are remarkable.

I will say that sometimes some people have a hard time saying no (me included) so maybe that’s why she let him lay in the bed, HOWEVER, judge Mathis disgusted me in the way he treated the defendant .

This was a weird case. I think something happened between the plaintiff.and defendant. You don't just let someone sleep in your bed 🛌. She either didn't like it or realized the conflict that she was his boss. 'Ol boy couldn't say much🤐 or she would've had him fired😆

Another not so smart comment. Obviously you don't know the legal process regarding this case. Again you sound as smart as the defendant!
@jennifersturges5011
@jennifersturges5011 2 жыл бұрын
That's not how it works in California. She is not required to have, look for or even deal with a new roommate. She doesn't have to try and make things easier for him. He signed a one year lease that stated that if he or she or both broke the lease that they, she or he would be responsible for the full amount or until the apartment was rented again. She chose to stay and deal with the hardship so she didn't ruin her credit and was able to sue for his portion of the rent. If she wasn't right or had no legal recourse then she wouldn't have won. It's just that plain and simple and unless you have a copy of their lease and know the California law pertaining to this situation then you would know that she won based on the law and the lease agreement but you don't and that's why you are wrong. And again she doesn't have to mitigate anything.

This was a terrible judgement. The plaintif had the right to try to find sb to take over the lease which I am sure she did. The guy was so naive so the judge took advantage of that. Platonic friends do all those sort of things. Hving worked together for as long as they did, some requests were not to be interpreted the way the judge did. Could have granted her say 3months rent max.

The defendant clearly stated that he touched her platonically. Sometimes JM hears what he wants to hear. Plaintiff is trying way too hard to look like a victim while her mother is feeding her the words to say to the judge.
