This second part of the route takes us from the village of Uffington, through the quiet Shropshire lanes to Upton Magna, Withington, Wrockwardine and Wellington in Telford. We then cross Telford to St.Georges where the route meets Route 55 of the network.

Re the Wrekin legend, apparently the Giant who was on his way to flood Shrewsbury, met a cobbler who was carrying a bag of shoes to repair....he told the Giant that Shrewsbury was so far away that he’d worn out all of these shoes walking there, so the Giant gave up and dumped the soil there , forming the Wrekin!

This is useful. I hope eventually to do the reverse, Wellington to Shrewsbury, with a minimum of road.. There some weird bits of cycle path near the hospital/new housing. And along the new development by the sugar beet factory housing if your going that way. Still the old shared use/ticks a box routes with poles dotted every few foot in the centre! . Not Dutch standard by any means.

Another great one! Wellington is a town in itself? Not so much anymore, especially with the effects of Covid 🥴

Definitely a quieter town than it used to be!

Wellington is a Market Town, by definition, or was. Its still buzzing on Market Days, with the evening markets, and Orbit Cinema worth a visit. Indoor food market as well. Excellent Polish deli shops, a gaming cafe. AND now home to Shropshire Cycle Hub's expansion of grocery delivery by bike or rickshaw. Look out for the guys in the Market Square. :) Oh and around 3 bike shops :D The Steaming Mug is a great place to stop for a snack if cycling through. Anthony's butchers has a good cafe as well.
