Most groomers, like this one, are way too rough and don’t talk to these poor dogs to comfort them. These dogs especially need a kind word and hand because they don’t get it at home. This groomer should sign an agreement to be more gentle and comforting. Don’t just say you’re okay. It’s rush rush rush to the next dog.

I love this channel, but I am so confused why didn't you start with the nail trim, before dragging him on those surfaces, he was so uncomfortable, was hard to watch that. poor baby. He deserves more pets

Hopefully the dip will help. She also mentioned talking to the owner about a flea preventative. A groomer can only do so much, unfortunately. Maybe a local pest control person will see video this and volunteer a free home visit or two.

I am watching and thinking that becoming more educated isn't necessarily the same as "feeling better" at times. From years of watching, I can recognize things: as matting can result in hidden skin troubles, or fleas hiding under the coat; that matting causes both constant pain and bruising; that extra long nails make it hard to walk and distorts the physical anatomy of a dog (horse/cow). I loved the use of the sling, since you have said dogs can get tired or cranky and it takes strain off of "old hips", etc., making a comfortable groom possible. Spraying in the garbage can, related to the ongoing battle against fleas. Thank you that you not only teach but an elderly dog got relief, a comfortable groom and greatly improved health.

I understand what your saying BUT a quick confident hand saves trauma . The whimpering is where he's sensitive.....with him it's his feet ,so again stringing it out only adds to the trauma . It's like pulling off a plaster . Another thing wee dogs actually get embarrassed by having dirty bums , they are very proud .

There is absolutely no excuse for any dog to get in this condition. I don't care what family matters or money issues a person has, it takes a few minutes a day to brush your dog to prevent matting. And that's free to do while you're just spending time with the dog you claim you love. And those nails, my gosh, it's no wonder why he couldn't stand! It only takes a couple minutes to cut your dog's nails as well. There's no excuse! The person who owns that dog should not be able to own any pet!!!! And if you can't afford flea medicine for your pet, don't get a pet! Dogs are better than people! So are cats. They are loving and loyal and don't expect much. Their companionship is worth every penny you have to spend on them to take care of them. Maribeth - Thank you for helping him.

He probably feels so much better now. It was good that you gave him a cut where it us not matted and if they miss an appointment it will extend the life of the groom. that was a lot of work. I was suprised you worked so quickly with the clippers. That adds to his comfort.

These older dogs truly are more challenging and sometimes we do have to jump around and do whatever they will allow us to do. They of us working on their feet and will only allow us to work on their legs. That’s what we do. good job Marybeth. I was touched that you were concerned about his comfort and gave him. The headrest kindness goes along way with these wonderful creatures.

I’m sorry, but that is blatant neglect no matter how hard life is. Many of us, myself included, have dealt with difficult times in our lives more than once, but you just cannot forget about the ones you are responsible for, as though they don’t exist anymore! It is better to give them up, than let them suffer. I used to have a Pomeranian, and they are smart, sensitive little dogs that deserve better than this. I just don’t know how you do it, without wanting to call animal control on some of these cases. You are a kind, generous person to say the least!

I bet that dog felt a lot better after shaving and a bath. My black Pomeranian loves to get shaved. He’s not matted. But his undercoat is so thick his skin dries out. He has white flakes on his back. Once I bath him and condition his skin he does not have the dry skin. My Luke loves his shave down. Great job!

I'm so glad that you do this for people who have problems. They love their dogs but, like you said, things happen and the animals suffer for it. I have a Pomeranian. She is older so I don't take her to the groomer anymore. She hates it. I purchased shampoo and conditioner and I do her hair now. The most difficult problem is her nails. She will not let me touch her feet because she doesn't want her nails trimmed. My sister helps me with that and sometimes I take her to the Vet for them to do it.

I agree also. I used to watch Marybeth groom dogs, i found her long before I found Vanessa. And wow there is such a massive difference. I feel like she doesnt quite enjoy her work? Or just overall personality? i dont know. But its very sad. When i first watched her i wasnt really noticing it at first. But especially when coming back to it now. its a huge difference between the two.

A little love goes a long way. As a human old person, a hug and some nice words are REALLY important to me. This little guy maybe could have benefited just being talked to. The words don’t even matter, you could do all of your talking in a comforting voice and we in cyber world would get the message and this little guy would think that your world is 100% about him. Just a thought

I understand that sometimes life happens. However, you take a bath, and so should your dog. The dog did not get this bad in a month or two. I would rather do a home hair cut right away and bath him myself than let any dog get to this point.

Poor dog. I was surprised you kept tugging on his severely matted pelt to pull it off before it was completely clipped away. He's a senior dog who has clearly been through a lot. Please be more gentle. And not once did you speak any gentle kindnesses to reassure him, until nearly through the initial clip, when he started crying. If you'd been more gentle and reassuring he might not have become so stressed. But more time was spent talking about the smell and fleas, than to speak gentle reassurances to the poor old dog. I'm sorry you had to deal with the smell, but that dog has been through more than you have. You spent more sentences about spraying your trash for fleas than you did to calm his stress and be sweet to the little old guy, and he was behaving so well for you, despite his severe suffering. I applaud your work, but not your disposition toward those you're serving.

Back in the days of "Work Houses", during intake of homeless, or parentless people, they stripped them, shaved their heads and made them bathe is some really crazy cleaners. It was abusive as much as it was necessary because of neglect due to circumstances. I wish it didn't ever have to come to any of that for people or animals. It wouldn't if people didn't have so much greed in their hearts and heads. Be kind to all you meet, the next time you are hurting for comfort or needs, one of the people you were kind to might just be there for you!

That dog has been groomed before and CLEARLY knows what is going on. We took in my moms shi-tzu when she [mom] died. We groom him all the time and he knows whats up. If she was being "too rough" the dog will let her know. calm down. If the dog was that stressed it'll let her know. 3 or 4 little whimpers... not a big deal.

i am shocked how this sweet baby just let everything happen. i just lost my pom pom Belle in August and she fought to very last brush of her last groom and she was 15 1/2. i normally watch these videos because I miss my sweet Belle but this just made me sad. i hope this baby has a better home than we are all imaginging he does.

I’m so sorry for this poor older dog and you should be commended for helping him. I’m sure he’ll be suffering with more ailments that are left untreated now too, if the owner didn’t recognize suffering like this……💁 shame.

Thank you for taking care of this baby. I’m very understanding of how she could get into this condition. I’m 75 and sometimes don’t feel like brushing my Morkie and Bernedoodle. Especially the Bernedoodle is difficult to brush with the amount of arthritis in my hands. I am very blessed to have sufficient income to have them bathed weekly. Their nails and ears are taken care of also. My Morkie doesn’t ever drag his buttocks and the vet has never said anything about it needing to be drained so I assume it is okay. I gave up my monthly pedi/mani for their baths. They are worth it. I live alone and they are my emotional support. I need both. I have lost two dogs since I retired and don’t know how I would have managed without the second dog. I have grandchildren willing to take each dog should I become unable to care for them and the rescue I got the Morkie from will take him back as will the breeder i bought the bernedoodle from. this is just responsible ownership, especially at my age. but not everyone is this blessed. you are a blessing to these dogs.

Thank you for putting your fur babies first. Too many do not. Even young people should have a plan for their kids and animals just in case the worst happens.

If I could, I'd love to be there with you to hold him. He can't be responsible for his neglect and his smell. My senior short haired chiwauwa tends to smell a little too. He can't help it, he's clean and bathed constantly. ❤

If he smells like unpleasant foot odor and is itchy without fleas, a skin yeast infection might be the culprit. We went through that with a old lab back in the 90's. Consider getting him buzz cut. Then make sure his skin and foot pads are dried thoroughly with a hair drier after his bath with a dog shampoo for yeast infections. If yeast is the problem that should help him smell like a rose again, relatively speaking- he'll still be a dog :) .

I agree with the other person commenting family circumstances doesn’t matter IF YOUR DOG IS IN THIS BAD OF SHAPE YOU DONT DESERVE A DOG.. !!! This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! SAME ON YOU! THANKS TO THE GROOMER.. poor dog..

My dog doesn't need her nails trimmed very often. She is always out running and digging. Wears them down.

I wish you had washed his ears out after the bath. Hope the poor old guy doesn’t get an ear infection. But thank you for helping him with the fleas. ❤❤

Cute chubby little chap. Now he will have a chance to grow a new coat. My in laws had Poms. They would get them done in Fox cuts.

Poor baby I think he was lethargic he was very quiet probably couldn't stand had no energy and those nails certainly were unbelievable I'm glad you were able to help him out and I hope the owner appreciates it because It was a lot of work for a dog who seemed to be lethargic and I hope they take your advice and take it to a vet and make sure that it's not anemic 😢 unfortunately if they couldn't pay for a grooming I'm sure they won't take it to a vet and pay for its check up which is unfortunate but now that you've killed those little boogers maybe it will be able to regain some of its circulation back and be more cheery😊

Try putting Vicks vapor rub under your nose it will help with the bad smell , nurses do it with incontinent patients
