Yep, summer games, winter games, take your pick. Politics have reared their ugly head into many Olympic events. Look at the U.S. Men's basketball loss to the Soviets in 72' (I believe it was) it was horrible what the refs did to give the Soviets every chance possible to win. If I remember correctly the U.S. Men's Basketball team refused to accept their silver medals in protest. Look up that game, it was unreal how bias it was.

Roy jones arguably the best boxer ever. Guy was amazing in his prime. He should of retired after he beat tarver for the title again.
@ruraladventurer18843 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. I understand your position of wanting him to walk into the sunset with the title in his prime. On the other hand, Roy went 17-8 after the Tarver win with all losses coming to top level guys and virtually all of his wins coming against guys with winning records. He was winning and successfully defending titles until he was almost fifty. He also had to reinvent himself as a fighter, relying far more on his hands for defense as his foot and head speed diminished. I would have been fine with him retiring in his prime but I actually like the "gut it out as long as I can" Roy even better. Hell, he even retired with a win and a minor title around his waist.
@robl35713 жыл бұрын
@@ruraladventurer1884 yeah and he got knocked out hard in multiple fights. He clearly wasn’t near the level of fighter he was before the tarver fight. I also believe he was 35. His entire game was built around blazing speed. Once he lost that it was over for him. Hopkins outboxed the mess out of him. Roy wasn’t the best technician of a boxer. 17-8 is awful...
@ruraladventurer18843 жыл бұрын
@@robl3571 I can't argue with that but what a fighter does past his prime doesn't diminish what he accomplished in his prime. Even with those 8 losses, he's still the GOAT.

As an amateur fighter that was just recently robbed of a clear win (the dude's nose had boogers & blood coming out by the end but was still awarded a UD victory), seeing this was so refreshing. It just hurts when even your own coach tells you that you just put up your best performance but weren't awarded the victory you deserved and that all the hard work put into this was merely a waste. Tough to swallow but if you're adamant enough the upsetting moment will pass and only serve as fuel for greater endeavors.

Curious, does anyone else have an autographed CD from RJJ? I met him @ a music store I was working for when he came to do a promotion for his rap CD release in like 2001. Hey was cool n all, but you could tell he was "in character", especially how he was interacting w/ his entourage. Kind of an over exaggerated persona & a lil bit on the arrogant side. It's allgood, we were all young once. He seems a bit more humble & grounded these days. 20 yrs will do that to a man. Blessing to RJJ & Tyson, have a good camp fellas & put on a good show cuz the world is waiting & chomping @ the bit to see ,THIS! I dont know who to root for, both men have my admiration and respect for being able to do this especially at the age they are. I'm only 44 and I don't think I would climb in the ring with either one of them I don't care how much money you offer! Can't enjoy your prize purse if you're a vegetable. Peace!
