In todays newest exploration I take you to one of the most beautiful and exclusive places I have ever been allowed to explore! The dreamlike palace of a jack of all trades: he was mayor, winegrower and council president - to name just a few things. This million dollar villa has been vacant for more than a decade, but its elegance is still unbroken. The wealth of the builder can be seen everywhere, pomp and show in abundancenof wealth!
Sadly he died at the age of 50 and his wife ended up living inside the home for 30 years. They had no children but had a lot of staff members to occupy the rooms and because they had no children the house went to the Nephew but they live in south Africa and just used it as holidays home until eventually they left it forgotten and abandoned.
Explore with me the countless rooms of a 100 year old villa and immerse yourself in another time ...

The smaller bathtub is a sitz bath, the bidet is pronounced Biday, the safe in the bathroom is a safe. I think also, the wardrobe that you couldn't open had the key in the top dresser drawer. The head statue is called a bust. This is a very lovely home...it's too bad that someone felt that they needed to damage stuff in the home; I'm not sure why people feel the need to be destructive. This is one of the best ones that you've ever done. I'd love to know the complete history of the home and the family. I think you like traveling, because you're all over the world.

Why would anybody buy a castle for five million and then just abandon it . Even if it was inherited ,if the nephew doesn't want it,why doesn't he sell it. I'm sure somebody would want it no matter how it looks today . It is nice inside and cozy and has artifacts and furniture that is worth money. What a pity for that house to go to waste. Thanks for sharing Steve .

So beautiful in so many ways. I wish I could see this place. Ornate woodworks, wardrobes and cabinets, lots of furniture that should be saved. The whole place should be saved but the building is going to decay already. The ceilings are amazing and the painted walls and wall papers so original to me. Stained glass is gorgeous. The room with little murals has the most beautiful warm woodwork. The outer hallways add space and connect to the outside for light and air circulation. Love it. Thank you, Steve!

Don't know why I picked you to share knowledge. You are gentle and kind. Money in these homes is always shown in public areas. When you get into the less ornate is servant rooms. You didn't say when it was built updated in 1930 by adding bathrooms. The master suite was amazing with monogram on the individual furniture. These people had no issue with money. Total elegance, thank you for sharing.

It’s so beautiful . My eyes can barely take it all in. I imagine all the mansion you go to have become too expensive to keep. Even if the house was in good shape, the upkeep is so expensive people have resorted to letting them fall down. They are too expensive to live in. Can you imagine the power bill alone in a place this size? Breaks my heart.

I can't and probably never will understand how people own such palaces and just let them fall into disrepair. Hidden capital in the bank? So I make something out of it and don't let it fall apart and if I don't want it then they try to sell it profitably in time. Such a most amazing and breathtaking palace left to decay. I don't want that in my head.
