I think this should motivate producers to push themselves to do more with the samples. If a bot is picking it up then it's to close the 1st song that claimed it. It sucks but this is part of the negatives of big tech's influence on music.

Perhaps a sensible solution would be for the admin of KZfaq's content ID system to invite sample pack creators to register their loops as if they were 7-second "songs" to their database before each pack's release? With those uploads as the earliest versions on record, and with a "whitelist all" tag to them, this would cut out a lot of headaches all round.

This is a good idea! I’m guilty and have had similar issues. I slowly had to rethink the way I produce music simply because of the content ID system

Dealing with this now - i stripped the track down and uploaded with without certain elements to figure out what was copywritten. Some of these folks are out here copywriting KICKS and 808s from sample packs that they dont own. The plus side is that this will motivate to learn how to make my own kicks and basses from scratch !!!!

so what if we release OUR OWN melodies from old beats that are part of content id , so no one else can register them as their own?

This happened to me today. I released a royalty free sample kit with stems and someone claimed one of my samples

I just had that happen to me recently. I used a loop and created a track around the loop for a royalty free stock music site for content creators to use in their videos. everything has been fine for almost a year then It gets taken down due to CID. For this particular case I would have to reach out to the people who claimed personally however there's no way to get in touch with them... Nothing I can do.

oh yea what do you feel about the people creating "Royalty Free" Packs with a cap on how many streams you can get using the "Royalty Free" loops before having to reach out and pay the creators. (For example I've run into Royalty free packs that'll say all loops are royalty free up until 500k - 1mil streams... then you have to add the creator as co-producer etc and give percentages to me that's not truly royalty free.) Have you run into those types at all?

I recently had a no melody type beat struck with no monetization, it’s not even close to the song they are claiming.

I seen how distrokid now like okay so I’m seeing right now that if you want KZfaq content Id on distrokid it mentions you can’t use sample loops from Logic, ableton, etc. and I of course Mostly use splice samples. When of course in the mood of doing sample beats. I’m not sign up to distrokid yet but seen a video discuss about it and so I do make songs because I’m also a rapper and singer and most songs I am planning to release once I sign up to distro some songs do include royalty free samples from splice so should I not then check the KZfaq content Id then pretty much? What do you think and of course have use samples as yours but mainly it’ll be one shot kicks, snares or once in awhile using loops drums.

i use distrokid for distributing my music ....i wanted to use their youtube id service but one condition is that no samples are included, another condition is that you not allow anyone to remix your song ....because the youtube algorithm can get confused ....both rules don't make sense to me because alot of major songs contains cleared samples and also alot of them have official remixes on youtube...can someone explain to me how this works?

There should be some system in place where an AI algorithm recognizes all the Royalty-Free samples in its database and auto clears the sample when ever its used.

Why don't the sample creators claim the sample before anyone else does?
@LowHeatBeats
@LowHeatBeats 3 жыл бұрын
Probably because then everyone who uses the sample will have their KZfaq video de-monetized. I think the idea is to use the samples without enabling Content ID when uploading to streaming platforms. And it comes with the disclaimer that you shouldn't enable it if you use ANY sampled loops at all. But some people don't read or are just dishonest.

What if your upload your samples on YT before releasing them on sample market to get the content ID first?
@Chris-iz2zh
@Chris-iz2zh Жыл бұрын
Content ID will flag the user of that sample for copyright and direct the monetization to the 1st person that registers it for content ID. If the producer is the first person to register for content ID and he said they can use it no problem, then that makes him look real bad when they get flagged and the money goes back to him

If you can get rights for a sound from a sample pack, then technically Roland should be able to claim rights for every sound produced from their instrument. It is fundamentally the same. Another example would be a drum set in Abbey Road Studios. Every band that records using that drum set would produce essentially the same sound and based on the Sample pack logic, the studio should be able to claim rights to those sounds. I think the ability to claim royalties and rights for sounds one produces for a sound pack is the problem. A sound like a kick or snare hit, even an 8 bar drum loop isn't a piece of artistic work and it's strange that they are treated as such. The producer that creates sound packs and loops is no different to the engineers that programmed and made synthesizers and drum machines. They don't get an artistic licence for the sounds those instruments produce so why should producers get that right for the sounds they produce? A musician programming a drum machine or hitting a key on a synthesizer is the same as a producer programming a beat using downloaded samples or hitting the play button to hear a downloaded sample. There is no difference. So if makers of musical instruments don't get royalty rights, then producers of sound packs and loops also shouldn't get royalty rights. Their pay should be from the downloads, just as an instrument makers pay is from instrument sales.

What's splice needs to start doing is to show the numbers of people that download a sample or a pack ... OH YALL ASK WHY Cause of the called Content ID everybody's going to want to claim exclusive copy rights on their own beat or whatever music you create even if you FLIP IT OR PITCH IT you will get a copyright strike smh They are not going to pay attention if you don't have a big following so let's leave this to pain1

If you used any kind of sample in your beats (royalties / royalty free) don't fuckin upload it on content id, you don't own the copyright to ffs. As for the solution of this problem youtube is under safe harbour so it won't get in between copyright dispute, so whenever this shit happens and your appeal gets rejected just get your friends together and bully the guy into giving up the claim
