As this series on how to build a garage comes to an end, I hope you all enjoyed it. I know I didn't show every detail, and I know the content can be much better, but that's what is exciting. I've just started this journey for the most part and hope you stick around. I plan on dropping as many tips, techniques, and hopefully entertaining content I can as I learn and grow.
In this episode I show how the attic is insulated, the concept of the concrete floor, and how we managed to get the windows installed after our steel was already up.
My favorite part of the video however, was installing that versetta stone.

Being a now retired finish carpenter. Over the thirty years I’ve spent in the trades there are very few tradesmen that I would consider allowing to do a job for me. I rarely find anyone who shares the attention to detail as you. I appreciate working with real craftsman, and you should be proud of the professionalism that you and your crew display. Never bow down to just getting it done to get it done. Keep up the quality job you give to your customers and thankyou to you and your crew for carrying on true craftsmanship.

ive watched a lot of videos of people building sheds. garages. work shops. etc over the years I can honestly say you and your team are the most professional I have ever watched. your attention to detail is second to none. keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to watching more of your videos

Everything you say about "it needs to look right to the viewer/customer" is so right. I had the hardest times trying to explain this to many other contractors and especially workers. For instance, in a bathroom, from the toilet where the customer is going to be sitting for minutes everything must look perfect from the throne. You start your tile or patterns off of this position to have full tiles and let them run off else where. When you follow this line of thinking everything else always seems to work and you certainly follow and speak of this process. Very nice build and looking forward to your future projects.

I found your videos when I was looking for ideas for my garage, and though "here is another quick and cheap build". I was right on the quick, but boys was I wrong on the cheap! Your attention to details is flawless, and your logic perfect, spending time where it count, and saving time and $ where it doesn't. I especially like your comment about the " Caulk will fail over time, but physical flashing will last the life of the building". Too many builders chose cheap short-lived solutions. For reference, I am a owner-builder, but recently completed two cottages that got the LEED Gold certification, so I can recognize quality. You guys are awesome, and I would not hesitate to hire you! Thanks for the great video series!

Awesome videos, you remind me of my oldest brother. He was a Norm Abram type contractor. He had a roofing card, (it covered everything). Oh, he had a great sense of humor and was an absolute nut about detail. He always had the latest and greatest tools. He built custom "parade" homes and may shops similar to this one. He died of cancer a few years ago, I'm so glad there are tradesmen that take great pride in detail and building the best way. I'll never have the knowledge and skills he acquired through 40 plus years of experience, but I try. Not the fastest, but I get it done. Again thanks for the thorough videos.

I think another big advantage of cordless contractors tools is when storing the tools. You don't have to worry about something sharp falling on the cords and damaging them. Plus, no cords to annoy the hell out of you that get twisted up and in the way when you're putting the tools away, lol. Anyway, thanks for the extensive build series and for showing the insulation in the attic this time. I really appreciate the time you put into making your videos.

First time watching you build really enjoy your extreme attention to layout. I'm a builder myself but mostly remodeling and figuring what's going on with older structures is my first step to making things right. I love to build a new structure from scratch if I get every thing square and level at the foundation and keep it plum square and level everything just flows and it's enjoyable. I do a lot of finer interior trim work and hardwood stairs so precision is a must. You dialed in this build and anyone doing cabinet work in the building will have an easy time. Hopefully the concrete floor will be up to your standard as well. I do all my own work and for the most part I don't trust any one. I would trust you, ask my wife or my customers if I'm not the most picky perfectionist they know. I'm not perfect and neither is my work, I just strive for it. Thank you.

Wrap your stone around the corners 8 to 12 inches; looks finished. Beautiful work on everything.

When installing versetta stone. I use backer on screws (grey ones) they Pierce the metal flange especially when working in residential construction so you can screw into a stud. Also black silicone comes in handy to hide some of the larger gaps.

This build series was the best build I have ever watched. Your work ethic and especially the attention to detail was impressive, to say the least. I have never witnessed the craftsmanship like what I say in your videos. The extreme caution and double checking of all the layout is impressive on its own, but I saw the benefit as the building progressed, and the results speak for themselves as the build was completed. I would hire and or recommend RR without hesitation. Thank you for an excellent presentation, and thank you for showing everyone what true craftsmanship was meant to be.

My father had a haybarn built in 1972. 40x90. It's still standing but on because I installed new posts on the south side of the building. Most of the original 4x6 treated posts are rotted complete at the ground. I had one that just kept rotting from the weight on it. I had to jack up that truss 10". The poles didn't go in as straight as I wanted but that was a big chore getting 20' posts up. I built the typical laminated type with three 2x6s glued and screwed together. Still got a lot of work to do on that barn. I'm going to build a 60' x 120' in the near future.

this is my secnd favorite of your builds. My favorite was that black and maroon 160 some barn with the massive 32ft and 25ft doors. Those colors just popped!

I have watched the entire series to see how you do the window. A family member has similar garage but his windows were not trimmed as you do. He has moisture coming in. You have to channel it the way you do it, if not, the natural channel of the window just brings the water inside the building. The channel you do at 14:00 is the only way!! I have learned a ton from your series, I have built many buildings, worked several facets of construction, great job!

You asked people to let you know if, because of watching your channel, they've decided to build a pole-framed building. First, your channel is extremely helpful - thanks. Second, I intend to build a pole-framed building using your methods. It will be 40x60 with a 20' wall. It will have a shop and commercial kitchen downstairs and a hardship apartment upstairs. Don't know what involvement you'd like to have, but I'll take what I can get. Mostly if I could get information on sourcing of the custom parts you have made like the post anchor brackets, laminated posts, etc., that's what I need the most. Wonder if you'd be willing to let me fly out and help on a new project in return for learning from you? I'm not as good as I was when I was young, but I'm steady.

You asked if anyone might have any suggestions. The plywood you cut for the corner if you want a blind invisible joint use a straight edge to guide your saw. Undercut the edge at a 45 degree angle so the sharp edge will compress or kind of knife into the flat surface of the other sheet. Don't slam it in so hard as to roll the sharp edge though. If your look at the under side of staircases with routed box stringers you will notice the routs are dove tail and tapered so the wedge shape pins compress the top and front sides of the treads and risers into a knife like edge making and exstreamly tight joint. You can achieve this with your plywood in those corners. If you really want to get picky use a planer blade. But be careful not to cut your self on the exstreamly Sharp edge it will produce.

Would love to see any footage of the concrete pours, understand how every bit of the building process goes just by your detailed videos, just have not been able to to imagine how the piers come out after the concrete work is all done.

I have really enjoyed your vids and you have inspired me and my son in-law to build his garage / shop using your post and frame method. we're a little too far north to contract it out to your team (Newfoundland), however I have done post and beam and son in-law has done traditional framing. Thanks for this series!
