In this video we'll benchmark the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti in Horizon Forbidden West. We'll be testing at 1080p, 1440p and 4K, with multiple presets as well as DLSS.
Horizon Forbidden West is a visually impressive game, and unfortunately 8GB VRAM GPUs are struggling on anything higher than medium settings. Still, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti performs quite well here using reasonable settings at 1080p, 1440p and even 4K.

A viewer pointed out that when textures are set to high and above the performance gets gradually slower on 8GB VRAM GPUs. That is correct, and I showed that in the RX 7600 video as well. I seem to have forgotten to mention it here, but Medium Textures are the way to go with 8GB GPUs.

What about DRS to try to hit 60fps it's been a min since I played it with the 3060ti though I have a nice little OC to the core freq and memory. When Nixxes made the hardware chart they took DRS in consideration as the PS5 uses it in all modes alongside check board i

For some reason my DRS does not seem to be as effective as your video that I saw? I tried it at around 55 fps and then enable DRS, but it would stay at around 55 fps, which was very surprising as your video it was working very well.

The game is very poorly optimized specialty for low vram GPUs. The 3060 ti is a very powerful GPU but with a low vram amount which kills it for new titles on 1440p.

Yeah, 8GB of VRAM is becoming long in the tooth. But the game actually received multiple updates since launch and now runs much better on 8GB VRAM GPUs. Still cant use Ultra Textures at 1440p, but at least High at 1440p seems to work okay now. And Medium Textures has seen a bit of a bump in image quality as well, so that's quite good I reckon.

Titles like this are truly gorgeous, but the absence of a proper physics is very annoying for an old gamer like me.

Hahaha, you're not alone. Physics might have been to expensive performance wise, but it wouldve been awesome. That, and some RT global illumination. The lighting is still pretty good though.
