We have several close friends in Rufford. It is an extremely progressive place and its energy supply is mostly carbon neutral. We need to educate the drivers not punish them. Bicycles and public transport are the answer, we simply need to educate the working classes about the dangers of fossil fuels.

sometimes the dumbasses get lucky as the water entering and blocking the inlet tract stalls the engine before it even gets past the throttle body. at this point the worst thing they can do is keep trying to start it. that said i'd rather hydrolock it on the starter than on the move with the weight of the car behind it.

Every car owner repeatedly pays for servicing and replacement of an air cleaner element for an internal combustion engine. If they can't associate paying for that with the fact that fuel needs 'air' to combust a 'fuel/air mixture' they're either of low IQ or been living under a rock their entire lives. An adequate explanation is in every cars user manual in the glovebox usually with pictures of the location of oil and air filters. There's also usually clauses in insurance policies with regards to crossing bodies of water as well. If people want to remain willfully ignorant of very basic information that is handed to them from many many sources on a platter then they will pay the price. In a country that has so much rainfall and so many FORDS and flooded roads I'm astounded the knowledge of how to safely traverse bodies of water in vehicles is so little known. It should be part of the drivers license test.

There's also a money making opportunity for renting 6x4 plastic tarps as a waterproof car bra either side of the body of water. That's all that's needed to stop the inrush of water. Every car should carry a 6x4 tarp in their emergency kit imo

For the most part, and those "river runners" it's an unnecessary short cut between 2 main A roads, and a poor one at that. Yes. I think you'd be looking at around £1500 - £2000 to fix that for an average family car of around 5-8 years old. Replacement used engine ~£800 Paying someone to swap it out ~£800 - £1000.

@@devilsympathy1 No, the tractor took the barriers down but they quickly replaced them. The ford had road closed signs all over the place which aren't present here. Plus it's way too warm for it to be late october, people definitely aren't in T-shirts and shorts over there anymore

The power output is regulated, other wise high revs would fry the cars electrics, so more revs won't charge the battery faster.

@@statementleaver8095 hope your joking with those comments, that use to be the case on cars about 25 years ago. The Alternator is controlled by the ECU via lin bus, the duty of the alternator is altered based on the load, ambient air temp and battery voltage.

Alternator is only Clutch enabled.......Exactly like Air conditioning (Slip Clutch Aux Belt) Every other Combustion Engine from Cranking to Stall.......Alternator is RPM!!! Due to = Injectors duty & Spark duty!!!! Compression Engine doesn't require a Battery to keep Running!! (Diesel only for Electronics)
