Just a quick bench top look at one of my favorite single action revolvers. The percussion revolver at its finest!

What a nice early product Ruger Old Army percussion cap&ball revolver. Good that you have the original packaging, definitely safeguard it. There is alot of "Food for Thought " with this insightful video. Yes, indeed, the Ruger Old Army is an absolutely superb top of the line cap&ball percussion revolver. One can see the elements of the Remington, Rodgers & Spencer, Whitney, and the Blackhawk revolvers that make up the Ruger Old Army. The only other top-notch percussion cap&ball revolvers to compare would be the British Beaumont Adams, Tranter and Austrian Josef Schneigg model 1860 in the whopping 55 caliber. The Spanish Basque Muzzleloading Pistol and Rifle manufacturer, Arvancargas Arsa is producing replicas of the Beaumont Adams single/ double action percussion revolvers in 43 caliber and soon a 50 caliber Dragoon version. Stainless steel is also an option. My life and others lives of others depended on my Ruger Old Army that I purchased in 1984 while under the " Magical Age of 2" that I carried as a Arned Security Guard and Hunter in the 1980's and til this day while hunting or for Wilderness Defense purposes. For the ultimate in power effect with the Ruger Old Army, for Hunting or Wilderness Defense purposes, against apex predatorial animals, consider using my proven Kaido Ojamaa-VKJV Universal Bullets in 255/240/220 grains RFN conical bullets.

Nice pistol, im also in the process of buying a blued version, and i can assure you, that plenty of people carry cap-and-ball revolvers for self defense, myself included (3rd generation Colt 1860 Army is my EDC) and at some point ill no doubt do the same with the Ruger but my Colt will remain my primary.

I've recently seen a couple of places with a Ruger Old Army model in stainless steel for sale. In both places they were asking $800 !
@SuburbanRifleman4 ай бұрын
Wow! I haven’t seen one for sale in quite some time. I’d love to have one in stainless to go with this one but I don’t have that kind of scratch at the moment.

@@SuburbanRiflemanThat's why I ended up with a FIE (Hileah FL, bankrupt in 1990) imported 1858 Remington that came in the Styrofoam container (no box) along with a nipple wrench, inline capper, flask (slightly larger than the cast opening for it) and almost-empty tin of #11 caps for $200 (and a CVA Hawken .50 for $50).

Nice! If you want to throw a repro 1861 Colt Navy cap&ball into the range demo, I may know where to find one. Though I guarantee your Ruger has better sights :)

It's a 45 cal . ( .457 ) not a 44 . Even says on the gun itself .

Im starting to see the cheapness or wisdom of black powder shooters. BP involves way reloading equipment less expense. Very few people have reloading setups that is portable enough to take to the range to refine loads in real time. Yeah, the weird guy with a smokey joe bbq playing with various casting formulations and molds + various powders and charges might be doing a lot more in less time.
