I desired this gun since first reading about it in the 1983 issue of Phil Engledrum's publication Popular .22's. They reviewed the KNR-5 model. Finally picked one up in 2000. It was used and had only the Mag cylinder. I sent it in to Ruger and had a .22LR cylinder fitted. Total cost was a tad over $300. Mine sports rosewood grips, the Ruger "satin/stainless" finish, adjustable rear sight and ramp (quick draw) front sight. This gun just about cries out for a nice holster rig and screams of nostalgia. The transfer bar system makes a six shot carry safe and the gun is quite accurate with both magnum and LR fodder. Trigger pull on mine is just about 2 lbs. It'll shoot every .22 rimfire cartridge from 6mm Flobert-Patronen to Aguila Super Maximum LR. Good enough to make a Brooklyn kid feel like a cowboy.
