I love sound horizon and Revo is a brilliant composer. I get so hype seeing others reacts to his work and THANK YOU for reacting to this masterpiece. What so fun about his songs is that there a storyline and tells the plot of what the story about.

Yoo, a Sound Horizon fan here! Pardon me for my poor English skills, but I'm gonna try my best to explain about the context of this song. "Battle of the Dead Heroes", aka "Shiseru Eiyuutachi no Tatakai", is the endgame of the album Moira, which tells the story of three "greek" siblings: Elefseus, Artemisia and Leontius. Leontius is the oldest, while Elefseus and Artemisia are twins. When stillborns, the twins had to be separated from their mother, the queen (so they are princes), because of a profecy. So they were raised by a soldier and his wife, until a bastard prince named Scorpios came, killed their "parents" and sold them to a slave market. The twins were still children when were slaved. So, they went to a city named Ilion, but Artemisia went as a Hetaira apprentice (Hetaira were like... High society and cultured prostitutes) while Elefseus went as a simple slave whose work was to build the walls of Ilion. After some incidents, they were brought together again and scaped from Ilion, but then, a storm came and separated them apart once again. Artemisia went to Lesbos, an Island where sacred poetesses lived, and became blind, but learned to read the stars, since she became the priestess of the Star Goddess, Astra. Elefseus became the apprentice of a blind old poet, who taught him about the "greek" Pantheon, the stars and more importantly... About Moira, the Goddess of Destiny. Some other things happen, but that same Scorpios guy who killed the twins' "parents" returned and he went after Artemisia, to take her as a sacrifice for the Water God, Hydra. She accepts her fate and dies by the hands of that man, but then Elefseus came to the place she died and he sees her corpse, and crying, they sing farewell to each other (Artemisia's spirit is singing). So Elefseus goes berserk and went seeking revenge. Then he made a deal with the God of Death, Thanatos (the first song of the album is in Thanatos' POV), and became his vessel. Elefseus then changed his name to Amethystos and started freeing slaves on the country, and with the slaves he freed, they became an army which started invading and destroying the "greek" cities. Do you remember that other brother? Leontius was still alive and he became the first prince of Arcadia, the main "greek" city. Because he was the only one who could use power of the Spear of Thunder, granted to him thanks to his God of Thunder blood lineage, he was known as a hero (he even killed Scorpios in the time Elefseus was freeing the slaves). But then, the slave army was getting nearer and nearer, so he had no choice but to fight against them. His mother, the queen, knew the truth about Amethystos and knew that he was actually Elefseus, her son, which leads us to the beginning of this song. In the beginning of the song, we hear Leontius and the queen arguing. She didn't want him to fight Amethystos, but before she could tell him the truth, he had already left. Meanwhile, Elefseus/Amethystos and his army invaded and destroyed Ilion, since he was forced to build its walls when he was a slave. This incident leads to the Battle of the Dead Heroes, that is, Elefseus vs. Leontius, and during the battle, Elefseus took his brother's Spear of Thunder, showing he was also able to use the power of the God of Thunder, which was the proof they were, indeed, blood related. Then, Elefseus shot a lightning against his brother, and their mother came trying to stop them, but she also took the blow, and they both died together, fulfilling that prophecy: Elefseus would kill his own family and become the vessel for Thanatos. With the prophecy fulfilled, Thanatos took Elefseus' body and went to defy Moira herself, trying to take her place in the throne of the Universe. This part is pretty confuse and I can't even understand it very well. There's lots of details I didn't mention here, but I tried my best to sum up the most relevant parts of the story. Edit: Each part of the story is told as a song, so they're almost episode songs.
