Rest In Peace, Ladies Carol Channing 01/31/1921 - 01/15/2019 Dame Angela Lansbury 10/16/1925 - 10/11/2022

I'm very old and I've seen all my favorite stars have died Angela Lansbury was the last I was lucky enough to see them all on stage at one time or another except Miss Lansbury. Got to see Betty Grable do Hello Dolly let me tell you she worked as hard as a girl can work on a show oh she was just wonderful and she did her best. The day of the true Broadway star is gone you go to see a show on Broadway now and they're wonderful formers and wonderful shows but nobody particularly stands out in your mind not mine anyway they're all very good but they don't have the sparkle people like Angela Lansbury, Carol Channing they had something special and I don't know where all the special has gone will it come back someday it probably will

How wonderful a tribute to witness during this time of stress! If these two grand dames can find it their hearts to entertain us, we are apt to survive a quarantine. I'm counting on it.

TWO GREAT LIVING LEGENDS TOGETHER
@MrCrowebobby5 жыл бұрын
Both great talents and great stars. But Carol exudes a star quality that radiates an inner glow outward over the audience that seems to me different from Angela's and from other modern Broadway stars.
@BTURNER19614 жыл бұрын
I smile seeing and hearing Angela. She still exudes class and that has that charm still no doubt. Channing is actually a few years older, but she seems more frail and that voice had finally lost its power (not much else was there to lose, frankly) but there is just something about her, that makes me grin from ear to ear from the moment she gets help walking down those stair. The life in her eyes, the undiluted joy in her laugh. Nobody adores the stage and laps up the love of an audience like she does. She brightens up a room so. I definitely have a soft spot of Carol Channing.

@MrSwifts316 жыл бұрын
The poster must be wrong. 2013 would make Carol 92,and Angela 88.Whilst both ladies look mature,they are certainly not these ages! If you enlarge the poster(a bit blurred however) you won't find any reference to the two ladies.Someone obviously like the poster and just used it.

According to a trustworhty source it is 2002. It has even been released as a CD - 'Tap Your Troubles Away'
@kenalanfitness3 жыл бұрын
It was either 2001 or 2002 at the Jerry Herman tribute. S.T.A.G.E. honored a different composer each year. The poster says 2013, but that isn't when this performance took place. This clip was posted to youtube in 2013, and whoever posted the clip just used that year's S.T.A.G.E. event poster.

I used to respect Carol Channing and I always knew there was something different and mysterious about her, right before she passed away she revealed to Jet or Ebony magazine that she was biracial and she passed for white to "get along", I then lost major respect for her😭❤️🖤💚
