it is a fabulous stroke. however, in her matches against Serena, Serena hits far more forehand winners, especially if Serena is planted in the ^centre of the court. There is a weight of shot difference, despite Ana Ivanović‘s forehand being the [2nd] biggest on the tour from the mid to late 2000s. Serena recorded the fastest groundstroke struck in the 'Hawk-Eye' era (reset several times in the early .10s): a forehand measured at 154 kmh [ = 96 mph ], in her quarter-final match against Ana at Dubai on the Thursday 19th February 2009.

There is no doubt that Steffi Graf has the greatest forehand ever! Her powerful forehand combined with her accurate shotmaking and her athleticism, speed, and footwork, makes her powerful forehand the preeminent feared tennis weapon in history. I’ve read some discussions about Steffi Graf’s forehand and I would like to share my thoughts and insights. To the average eye, her powerful forehand may look different or late but her technique is world class! Her racquet starting position starts somewhat high like Juan Martin Del Potro. Her swing, though it starts a bit late, is so fast that her point of contact is exquisite with the ball right in the center of the racquet. Her follow through is lightning quick and typically winds up over her shoulder but varies depending on the shot she wants to execute. Her forehand flow is so synchronized with her graceful athleticism that it’s amazing to witness. Sure there are players today that can hit powerful forehands but not with the same athleticism, speed, and grace that Steffi possessed, and as long as they can reach their opponents shot which is they key difference when comparing Steffi vs past/present players. I’ve seen so many matches where Steffi blasts a forehand winner running/defending against another powerful and/or angled shot or difficult volley. Yet when I see current or even past players hit their powerful forehands against similar points, they are scrambling for dear life, footwork and reflexes lacking, arms and racquets flailing in every direction, and yes some hit it back but honestly, it’s just not a good look. If Steffi was born in the 2000’s and competing in this era with current racquet technology, her forehand would be even a more powerful and feared version, and it was still extremely powerful in her era. Steffi Graf’s forehand is the greatest of all time!!!

Well obviously Serena’s and Steffi’s forehand’s contributed largely to the 45 Slams they won between them so they would have to be Top 2. The rest is up for debate.

Can y’all just stop with the hate on this channel for not using things from b4 2010, 2000s, etc. Surely by now you should’ve realised that it’s mainly oriented towards 2010-2020. They put so much work in getting clips from 2007/8 and onwards and you want them to go back to 1997 just to get a poor quality video of Fraulein Forehand. @Sabinelisickifansss keep up the great work queen!

Keys can beat anyone on her day but loses to players ranked below her when she's not playing her game. Why is she inconsistent? She gets nervous on occasion and also suffers from injuries a lot, which has hurt her consistency and her career. No doubt, though, she consistently hits the ball harder than any other woman. The women's game is all about smashing the ball into corners and making the other girl run. Defense and speed are very important, but power trumps finesse. That's why, when Keys' forehand is on, (more than half the time it is) it's the best forehand in women's tennis.

Her forehand good, just a huge backswing which sucks when her time is taken away, and it’s so inconsistent. I like power tennis and she’s a nice girl but she she’s so shaky I can’t watch her. She isn’t stupid but she plays like it.

How can somebody who dominated the tour 10 + years, whose signature shot was the forehand, who has won 22 slams because of this lethal shot and who was even nicknamed „Fräulein Forehand“ not be mentioned in this list? Stefanie Graf had the best forehand ever. Embedded in her athleticism and unmatched footwork, it was THE shot in the circuit that made her almost unbeatable. She lost only 7 matches from Jan 1987 - May 1990 and even after this over-dominant period, it remained the shot that gave her opponents the most trouble. She had a very unique technique which made the ball hit a „little to late“ and with a special swing and flicks of the wrist that gave it that much power an accuracy.

So I guess the nickname Fraulein Forehand is not a worthy nickname for Steffi Graf? Those 22 grand slams were won riding on that fearsome wallop. It's not just about the power. It's the placement, and it's how it is used to set up points. Greatest doesnot mean power, it should contain more, from power to angle, placement, consistency, effectiveness,... Greatest FH (from 2010s) should be 1. Ana Ivanovic (out of woman tour) 2. Serena Williams (excellent) 3. Ash Barty (effective alongside with slice backhand) 4. Iga Swiatek (heavy topspin) 5. Maria Sharapova (crazy placement and angle) Others have great FH, too, but some are lack of consistency, some are lack of accuracy, angle,... such as Kvitova, Keys, Vekic, Goerges, Bertens,...
