Now we take one step forward and two steps backwards. In effect it's true that we still are moving backwards, but the rate of flowing back has decreased... At least we can focus on that one good thing for now... Is what she meant... it's not about literature and the right way of using an expression... it's more of a metaphor and philosophy...
