Win a full week on board of Messenger for 2 persons. check the details in/under Vlog 25
Today's vlog: Living on a sailboat is sometimes just amazing, and sometimes its just struggling... Last weekend we had a lot of struggles and 1 big highlight was well :)
On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :)
This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. We got the sailing- skills on our friends yacht 'Shalom' when we joined them on a trip from the Netherlands to Spain. / @sailingshalom . In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met. We cooperated with OM to visit their projects and film them on our way. Since 19 of March we started with a daily vlog due to the corona situation. We plan to keep doing this the coming months.

Mr Turtle has excellent taste in sailing ladies Mariline lol 🐢( not sure.how to spell your name ) How wonderful the fishermen were friendly and not pirates.👍 Whew!! We have learned never to use moorings especially with storms as they are usually not rated for winds over 20kn. (Sailing Nandji is a good example why not to use a mooring.) Your anchor is much safer. Great story.😎
@sailingmessenger8125
@sailingmessenger8125 4 жыл бұрын
Haha Egypt has only friendly fishermen :) The mooring wasn't a laid one, it was one we made ourselves around a big chunk of dead coral. We expected only light winds, no thunderstorm 😁 Anchor is good, but with all the coral crops on the bottom its not a good option because we don't want to damage that... When using a reef mooring and a stern anchor we stay at one place, the chain doesn't drag, so we prefer to use that. I don't know Nandji, did it strand on the reef?

@@sailingmessenger8125 Sailing Nandji is another sailing channel kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y7Com7KCsduaqIU.html This Ep shows what happened. They also did not expect bad weather and didn't know their line holding onto the mooring broke. Q&A Do you have an anchor alarm app installed on your phone or on your instruments?

great , really enjoy your videos , no other boats vlogging from the red sea , there has a quite bad reputation for sail boats , like strong winds and heat and unfriendly native people and authorities,, but you two look like you are enjoying your selves . more map and location names please so we can check where you are ,,, and prices /costs .....are you real time ?? thanks .
@sailingmessenger8125
@sailingmessenger8125 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Roderick, Yeah some of those things are true I guess. There is quite often strong wind, but there are also enough calm days. And there are many places with good protection. And yes I think in the summer months it will be very hot, but now most of the days it's really good. Some days, especially when it's humid arent so enjoyable. (like today :) About unfriendly locals we don't agree at all. We think they are very friendly. I think that on places like the suez channel and tourist attractions like luxor you find bad people because it are places where the money is. So it attracts people who are just on te look for money and that aren't always the nicest people :) You can check our location here: www.noforeignland.com/boat/5925410334310400 But we will try to write the names of the places on the map so you can follow it in the video's too. All the reefs and the sailing we do now is for free, but suez costed money, and the visa and some permits and taxes, and port Ghalib also. We will post a video about suez channel later. But already as an indication: suez channel was approx 600 us dollar all incl, the marina port ghalib was 300 US for a month and the agent costs and check out and formalities 110 US. And yes, we are real-time with our daily vlogs. But with our longer 15 minute vlogs we aren't. Thanks for asking :)
