What is gross is that he takes statistics and draws the wrong conclusions. Yes, if you take two large groups of children and raise one group in an environment were they have better access to healthcare, food, a higher living standard and better education, then they will outperform the poorer group. The conclusion should be that we must improve the standard of living for children in our country who live in poor areas. Period.

Wrong. One group had about a 10 thousand year start to accomplish something, and accomplished squat. The statistics you are referring to are extremely recent and still the gap remains. @@franklinbadge1215 That is such a cliche thing to say, pity hardly anyone knows what it actually means except perhaps for some virtue signaling political scientists or experts that try to moderate a seemingly harsh stance on an issue. Even though technically true what in essence people mean when they say that is that any two random people within a race will have more difference between them than the average of two racial groups. Of course the greater the number of people you add to a gene pool the more that gene pool averages out and so two group averages by definition will not be so far apart. Next time some poorly educated fool or some virtue signaling "expert" repeats this ask them the following; what is the differences between two random individuals within a race compared to that of two random individuals from two different races? You guessed it, the difference will be quite large. You see people will have a lot more in common genetically with people in their own race than people that do not belong to their race. This is the simple reality, no politics no virtue signaling just the facts. of course it doesn't sound as nice to the ear especially if that ear belongs to a looney tunes lefty so people prefer the more PC way of looking at it.

If you believe black people are genetically morons then the solution is to provide them with more services, not less! All paid for by the rich and smart people, because if you're smart then you understand that a more prosperous and stable society is good for yourself as well as everyone else. That said individuals often have a IQ that vary radically from the norm, Percy Lavon Julian was probably smarter then you. I have a cousin that is pure Ashkenazi and is a moron. We have the technology (IQ testing) that can much more accurately determine a person intellectual potential from an early age then simply looking at their skin color or ancestry, so race as an intelligence marker is completely outmoded, like Phrenology.

However, when he began getting into race "science" it made me uncomfortable and I had to abandon him. I'm still not a fan of religion and think there are lots of terrible doctrines in fundamentalist religion (e.g. hell, homophobia, sexism, genocide, rejection of science) but I have started to realize that religion itself is not necessarily the enemy, so much as literal interpretations of religious texts. And that more liberal believers can in fact be allies on important issues.

For anyone genuinely curious, Shaun on KZfaq did a great 2 hour video on the Bell Curve, where he goes through all the weird and sometimes amateur methodological errors in the Bell Curve. Murray’s work was discredited for a quite simple reason, the data he reported on in his own book did not lead the conclusions he outlined.
@RLSteve
@RLSteve 3 жыл бұрын
I’m not certain that I agree with Shaun’s conclusions, but I have yet to finish watching his video. While there may be stuff to nitpick, the broader point stands that we are becoming a cognitively stratified society due to the way colleges sort us and the phenomenon of assortative mating (less marriage across class). Let’s forget about race differences for a moment. Do you think there’s a difference in average IQ between citizens of Massachusetts and citizens of Missouri? Probably! I’m willing to bet the Massachusetts citizens are smarter. And apparently, there’s a recent study about a Welsh mining village where they compared the genomes of the villagers who stayed behind in town to the genomes of the villagers who left for college and left the town, and there was a different genetic profile for the two groups. So yes, genes do play a role. If you read Blueprint by Robert Plomin, he talks about adoption studies and how the education level of the birth parents matter more than the education level of the adoptive parents when it comes to the child’s education level. Now, it may be the case that there’s no broad genome profile differences between whites and blacks on the macro level when it comes IQ, but SUBGROUPS may have there own genome profile when it comes to IQ.
@silentj624
@silentj624 3 жыл бұрын
@@RLSteve even if what you say is true about the genomes of those villagers it implies that environment changes the genomes and it has nothing to do with race. Citizens in different places within the US regardless of race demonstrates quality of education and culture not race. Your point is still flawed.

Let's write a book comparing the IQs of conservatives and liberals and ignore the fact that liberals tend to be more educated and live in big cities while conservatives tend to live in rural areas. Imagine comparing the IQs of college professors (tend to be liberal) with truck drivers (tend to be conservative). First question of IQ test: how long does it take to complete construction of a 40-story building? I wonder if the ones living in the cities will give more accurate answers. It's just ridiculous and unscientific to make generalizations comparing entire subtypes of people. It's almost impossible to do it in a scientifically sound way because there are just too many variables you can't control; in this case, the variables are specifically because of the racial incongruences currently entrenched into American society (different home environments, residential areas, education levels, quality of schooling).

IQ tests were designed to track academic progress of young children in school. They are designed to test if someone is managing to keep up with the curriculum. As a measure of innate "intelligence" they are very useless, since there a myriad of environmental factors that play into your success with the test. Hunger is a negative factor, while wealth is a positive factor. By preparing for the test you can increase your IQ score. The reason they correlate with success in many fields is probably that they correlate with education and success therein.

The bell curve is based on a study done by a dutch scientist who deliberately excluded Africans with high IQs and simultaneously used a small sample size which is not represenative when it comes to empirical data. The metrics that were used to test the Africans were also different which makes accurate comparisons between the Western results and the African results impossible. Murray goes on to justify the wealth gap between black and white people and uses genetic differences as the main reason when in fact slavery and the effects of the racist policies that were abolished in the 60s are the main cause because poverty statistically trickles down 4 generations. A little eye opener for you: In some counties of the US racist laws existed til the 90s. This moron Murray even suggests that systematic changes would be appropriate for black people. It's lucky for you that you were born as part of the 'master race'... it makes it easy to tell people you're 'of superior stock' without having to actually do anything. Africa is indeed 'the way it is' for 'reasons'... most of which have to do with imperialism, pillaging and conquest by European countries, and then two centuries of global financial oppression paired with richer nations (e.g., America) using Africa for a military playground and farmland for the 'illegal' drug trade. You may have missed it, in your 'close observation of reality' but the U.S. has been toppling democratically elected governments and assassinating leaders in Africa, South America, the Middle East, and elsewhere for what, 70 years or more? It's impressive that you expect poor countries to somehow improve themselves when the full force of the U.S.'s espionage and covert war divisions have been sparing no expense just to make sure that doesn't happen.

Literally the only regional/ethnic genetic "advantages" I've ever heard of is Malarial resistance/sickle cell disease with some Africans, blood oxygenation with some Nepalese, Pacific islanders and lung capacity. Although I'm sure there is many more genetic "advantages" with some populations but intelligence is not one of then. The fluctuation is menial across all populations and probably has more to do with culture, environmental conditions and diet than genetics. At least we can officially say the right is racist since Fox is their cheerleader network. And since Fox doesn't do anything without party approval and it's embracing eugenics it's 100% accurate to label the right as racist eugenicists.

White pale skin before the advent of synthetic vitamin D allowed white humans to excel in foggy and dreary regions. The white skin requires less UV exposure to produce melatonin. There are dozens of genetic advantages each type of people from all over the world display. Some argue left handed people are rare compared to right handed people because ancient combat with shield of some sort and spear or club has a much higher chance of piercing the heart or the artery that runs down the left shoulder and part of the left arm. Later in formation left handed people had to use their right hand to fit the formation increasing the left handed soldier's chances of being cut or punctured do to lack of dexterity. Un proven hypothesis but could be true. No one can prove it yet but as more ancient bones are discovered there may be an answer to question of why there are so many more right handed people than left handed people. Heredity, environment, and chance are the key factors that decide ones place in ancient times. The echos of those three defining factors are still audible today.
@djluminol
@djluminol 3 жыл бұрын
@@sndspderbytes I've heard the melatonin thing before but that comes with an obvious and pretty serious down side. Namely skin cancer, where as to my knowledge with some Nepalese and their ability to breath in lower oxygenation environments I haven't yet heard of a genetic disadvantage associated with the trait yet. Although I'm sure there is one since most advantages come with a disadvantage in another area. We just don't what it is yet. The key factor here the bigots seem to miss is that these minor differences between ethnicities are not large enough to make a Nepalese person a new species which means they really aren't all that different. There's a list of 20 or so people who've climbed Everest without supplemental Oxygen and not all Nepalese people could do that even if they wanted to. So their "advantage" or difference is not that great and certainly not large enough to make them a different species. Just as my pasty ass may be able to get by in Washington better than a black person but not at a rate that really makes much of a difference. When I was a kid going to school in Washington a bunch of the white people I went to school with used to be prescribed tanning bed therapy. The lack of sunlight in WA causes some people to get depressed. So while white people make be able to make more vitamin D that wouldn't matter much if you're depressed enough to commit suicide due to depression from not seeing the sun and therefor can't pass on your genes. There really is no such thing genetic advantage.

If they believe people have inherent problems, their solution is to still blame the individual for their inherent problems. Nobody finds this as a reason to mistreat anyone. This is the reason one group can not compete with another at a level playing field, the same reason there is affirmative action. @@twodogs5395 So "they should be stuck in a lower caste" pretty much is just a justification for mistreating people. You pretty much are saying the country has the right to neglect "low IQ" people just because. There's not supposed to be a "caste system" in America, this is supposed to be the land of the free where everyone can make it. But now y'all claim there's certain people who just won't make it, but y'all don't wanna do anything for those people. That's the problem, if y'all think "low IQ" is a thing, and y'all only solution is something like ethnostates. Instead of making systemic changes that benefit everyone, y'all rather blame entire groups for something even y'all think is "genetic". Affirmative action isn't just for black people, you know that right? You talking about "being competitive" all I'm talking about is people having food and shelter without needing to compete for basic necessities. We overproduce almost everything, so the idea that " there's not enough" isn't really that valid.

I'm biding my time until the white supremacist/white nationalist/white evangelical infrastructure realize what's happening when well-adjusted, competent brown students are admitted to colleges and universities in a wave. It'll take 5 to 8 years. I'm curious to see the "regulations" that will inevitably be instituted in order to hobble this community, as it is something that the white nationalist and white evangelical communities themselves created in the 1960s - 1980s during white flight.

Iq measurements by this metric is bullshit, if we see my familys' example, my grandfather couldn't read or write, my father didn't go to school but could read and write and his 2 brothers were all educated to a primary school level, but all of my father's children were born after the colonisers left so we all went to school and 5 of 9 (dad was a busy man) of us went to university we a have a surgeon, an accountant, 3 business owners, one recently graduated between us so by their measurements it would not be possible to happen because IQ is genetic.

I don't agree with the eugenics shit and the idea that IQ is based on race...as in one race has a higher or lower IQ indefinitely, but IQ is somewhat genetic and economic factors don't necessarily affect a person's intelligence. I grew up in poverty and have been tested for IQ a few times and scored between 135 and 140... the problem is that his "data" is most likely biased. Taking a group of people of a common trade or job title and testing and sorting them by race alone is ridiculous to think that race truly is the only variable...take a very intelligent kid, black or white, raised in poverty. That child may have the intelligence TO do very well in school and go on to college and succeed in society, but because of lack of resources in the community, level of standards of education in the area they live, economic class they are born into, and of course the general stability in day to day life of this child,...plus plenty of other factors affect the overall outcome of their future and education. And honestly it's just the randomness of nature mixed with the various variables that come with different styles of raising, parenting and"nurture ", that creates the crapshoot outcomes we find in the vast spectrum of human life! There are very intelligent black people! And very dumb white people (just look at the majority of trump supporters! Lol

Aren't tests designed with an end goal in mind first, for example, testing if someone can handle going to space? Racist dinosaur is right. Back in 2008 or so, I started reading blogs and fortunately stumbled on Panda's Thumb. That's where I learned that I was not NEARLY as smart as I had been told my IQ made me and why that was the case. So, I understand how hard it is to let go of a certain way of thinking about yourself, especially if it allows you to consider yourself to be superior to most other people, but I learned to let it go and never looked back. I'm still the same person, after all; not better or worse than before I got taken down a peg or two. The truth is so much more important than a false belief in one's superiority. Now I feel like I'm pretty average, intelligence wise, but 'blessed' with a brain that lets me excel in our U.S. school system (good at reading, sitting still and listening then regurgitating information.) Oh, and white skin which didn't hurt.
