Does 120hz 4k work via the HDMI ports on the soundbar?

@@versusplayer3214 Hey. Unfortunely no! I have the Samsung Q85R which offers 4K 120hz via the HDMI 4 port only, this doesn't work with FreeSync on most games. If you connect the Xbox Series X directly to the soundbar it will work with Atmos and 4K but no 120hz which is a huge shame.

Do the rear speakers drop out?

How far are you sitting from the soundbar? I have really small room, sofa is around 200 meter from tv, will it be good to purchase this sound system?

Hey Ng, thank you for these awesome tips. I have no idea what to do regarding the rear speakers because my couch needs to be against the back wall. Do you think mounting them will help? I'm absolutely going to move the bass somewhere else, I have it pressed up against the couch because it creates some pretty cool vibrations without being too loud. Thank you so much for the compliment. I think the dream is to have a traditional setup but it's not always realistic right? Sometimes you have a small or awkward space where cables and placement just won't work out and it doesn't do your amazing 5.1 setup justice. Unless I win the lotto I think I'll always have a soundbar. It's modular and works well with my living room. If you can get this for under $1300 it's absolutely worth it.

@@Payne. Yes it does seems a bit overkill to spend the cash for that setup in a small lounge room in a unit when you can't use it to its full potential. At least this soundbar and surrounds will be a definite upgrade from my pc sub and speakers I currently have that's for sure.

Hey Sean, thanks for taking the time to comment. The reat surrounds plug into power outlets so they can go anywhere you like. I'm sure they would drop out of range eventually. The SmartThings stuff is pretty impressive, they don't really mention it in the manual.

@@Payne. I’m torn between this sound bar and the Klipsch Cinema 1200, which I’ve had on order since April with there still being no firm shipping date here in Canada. The Klipsch reviews aren’t being kind either with the main issue around the lack of adjustment on the massive subwoofer. One review also said the soundstage and Atmos effects are better on the Samsung. Arrrrrgh, I wanted the Klipsch to be perfect and I’m really wondering if I should cancel my order. Not looking for you to make my decision for me, just blowing off a little steam, mate. Cheers.

Hey I'm totally jealous. What a great TV! That feature is called Q Symphony I believe. Does it make a big difference in your opinion?

@@Payne. definitely makes a difference when the TV is flat against the wall, when I swing it off the wall to face a different direction it's less noticeable but still can tell a difference between it being on & off

This is a good tip, every room is different and the layout will change the acoustics. I'll be mounting mine next week and I'll try different orientations. Have a great day.

Apologies for the late reply, I wasn't notified of this comment by KZfaq. I'm still using the speakers, and they perform really well, I find a lot of movies are poorly mixed these days which results in me turning up the centre channel to understand what they are saying. The rear speaker spread is fine but I would benefit from them being on stands and elevated more.

Portugal is beautiful! I have the Samsung Q85R which does not support eARC therefore I can't get 4K 120Hz with Atmos. I either have to choose from 4K 120Hz when connected to HDMI 4 on my One Connect box OR 4K 60Hz when connected to HDMI on the Q950A. If you have a 2021 Samsung TV or a TV that supports eARC you should be able to do both. If anyone knows of another solution let me know.

Hey Jideani. I've made the odd video here and there but nothing like this so I'm excited to see it do so well. It remembers the last mode which is sort of annoying to be honest. If I switch to my Xbox it will stay on Game Mode which means that when I go back to movies I have to change it to surround or adaptive sound (if I remember). I'd like Chromecast so I can create a speaker group but I have a Google Nest next to it which does the job.

@@Payne. My only concern for this device was that it lacked Chromecast feature because that's how I stream everything in my house. But i read someone in the comments on a separate video day you can just buy a Chromecast to plug to it and it would operate as if it had Chromecast built into it! That was what made me move from the LG Soundbar to this one 🙌🏾

Hey Kenny, great question. So at my place the short answer is no. The positioning of the rear speakers and sub isn't ideal and my "entertainment area" is tucked away in the corner of a very long loungeroom. In saying that if you run the Auto EQ feature that uses the sub as a microphone and adjusts the individual EQ of each speaker it does sound better. If you position the speakers correctly it's incredible. I actually tested this out in a showroom and played Rise of the Tomb Raider with Atmos. It's a level that takes place in these snowy mountains and the sound is crazy good, like you're there. It's absolutely worth the $1500 AUD that these are going for at the moment.

Atmos is fantastic as long as you position the rear speakers correctly. It sounds amazing on the Xbox Series X and on Netflix. I also have Plex and it's extremely good with the right movies. Mad Max Fury Road and Bladerunner are good examples. I don't have a lot to compare it go but I'd give it an 8/10.

@@Payne. I set it up and finally worked out how to get atmos to play through shield. I still need stands for rear speakers to direct them better. I still need to muck around with settings but over head sound on factory settings is hardly noticeable. I have hung it on the wall. I actually like the bass the sub puts out and the audio is nice and clear. Just the surround I have to work out.

The individual speaker settings are only available on the LED display. You can make some adjustments to sound via any Samsung TV using ARC. Modes like Standard, Surround etc. If you're using a non Samsung TV it won't have those options. Does that answer the question?

I can't comment on anything other than the Q950A as it's the only one I've tried. Music sounds amazing on the Q950A though.

Hey apologies on the late reply. Unfortunately no it doesn't, I've tested this with my Series X. So basically it's either 120hz OR Atmos. I haven't figured out how to do both.

Running my xbox series x straight into the samsung q90t 2.1 port then earc from tv to sound bar. I set the xbox and tv to pass-through to get 120hz and atmos

I think the key there is earc. Unfortunately my Q85R doesn't have it despite them promising it would come via an update.

That's lazy of Samsung. They should have included 2.1 on their flagship sound bar. Hopefully you see the update soon. There have been 2 recent firmware updates on the q90t. I always check the site, auto update never finds them... Good luck to ya .

Hey Apal that's correct. The SWA9500s are basically the same as the rear speakers with the Q950A. Make sure you get the SWA9500 as they have upward-firing rear speakers whereas the SWA9000 does not.

@@apalparikh hey man just letting you know the rear speakers for the Hwq950a are only for that model as they have 3 speakers. one front, one height and one side speaker

Honestly it's all to do with the room you have them set up in. You'll notice that my speakers sit just behind me and the pillows from my couch actually block the rear speakers. As a result I've maxed out the rear speakers to +6 but this isn't ideal. Many owners say just above your head and pointed at an angle towards the centre speaker, others say that raising them higher worked best. The same can be said of the subwoofer placement. It's all to do with the layout and acoustics of your room. I'm actually going to buy some will mounts and raise them higher. My TV and speaker placement simply isn't ideal for my very long and very echoey loungeroom but there isn't much I can do about that. I recommend that you read some forums and have a look at the manual to get a better idea of placement. In saying that the rooms they set them up in aren't all that realistic unless you have a media room. If you own the speakers try moving them around your room and run some tests. @@Payne. thanks for your reply! Our lounge isn't too big but it is a perfect square. The main thing I don't get is that the rear speakers have two speakers facing outward (and one upward) but when you have the speaker in the corner of the room one of the speakers is facing the wall. Rather than facing towards the middle where the couch would be. Seems a bit odd!

Luckily no! I paid around $1400 on release but it was $2100 RRP at the time I shot this. It's really dropped in price now.

I definitely agree with this. I've been watching more and more Atmos content and it's noticeably better, I don't have to ride the remote as much. I pretty much never use it for music.

Make sure the subwoofer isn't against anything like a wall or couch and try again.

There are 2 HDMI ports on the soundbar which will deliver ATMOS to any supported device such as an NVIDIA SHIELD or Xbox.

This is the thing i was looking for.i have a q8fn (dn uk version) doesnt have earc only arc.i have an nvidia shield pro and i understand that support dolby atmos.at thr moment i am.using a logitech z906 but want to get the dolby atmos experience and i understand even my tv doesnt have dolby atmos i could get that trough nvidia shield?! I am.right?and what is the best way to make the connections? Do i guess i can have atmos from.nvidia shield but not on my ps4? Any advice?

@@unasistent trust me you will be disappointed moving from z906 to q950a, z906 is thx certified with lesser DSP processing, it is lot more musical without having tweeters than q950a

It was definitely a huge upgrade.

While the box is pretty bland it is well packed. I think they are trying to do sustainable packaging, they mention something about it on the product page. A lot of companies seem to be going this way now.
