There are 2 ways to think of TVs... 1. What looks "Good" to your eye, or 2. What is true to "real" color and light. I am a Colorist in the Film industry in Los Angeles. I'm in the process of deciding between the Sony A1e and the Samsung QLED models from 2017. BLACKS: OLED "Looks" Stunning because it can turn power off from pixels and create an image that is totally black where it needs to (No power to the Pixel). While this make the picture seem more rich, it isn't all that realistic. When looking at the real world through our eyes, there will always be light bouncing off of an object, even in the dark. If you walk around in the woods on a moonless night, you will still make out shapes and movement because most surfaces are still reflecting photons back at your eye. OLED may look more "rich" because it is turning off these pixels, but it isn't really realistic. QLED may not have those DEEP, RICH blacks because they don't turn off pixels. Even at the lowest power, there is still power and therefore, some light. While this may not be as visually pleasing, It IS more correct to the world... In my opinion. My real question (that I don't have an answer for yet) is who has the deepest PERCEPTIBLE black. By that I mean, what TV has a lower black level while there is still power to the pixel. THAT is the more important number. Not everything dark is BLACK. Turning off a pixel allows no hint of what color is there in the dark. QLED is still producing light even in that darkest area (like the world does) and therefore can put a hint of red or blue in there as well. It still seems black, but that ever so slight hint of color is the difference between REAL and PRETTY. I personally like REAL. COLOR: This is where the 2 TVs really stand apart. For my work, I am interested most in Color Volume and Color Accuracy. In both of those areas, The SAMSUNG TVs are higher in the specs. (and in various tests, even though the independent tests fell a bit short of the numbers provided by Samsung... but what TV doesn't?) In color volume, The SAMSUNG QLED can reach 99.6% of DCIP3 Color space. (Digital Cinema Initiatives) It is the 1st TV to get anywhere that high. (Ironically, the Samsung Galaxy s8 Phone gets 113% with an AMOLED screen... In a phone... That is just nuts!) The Samsung also WILL have the ability to auto calibrate itself with "Calman Autocal" and a Colorrite Colorometer. This means we can continually keep it tuned and keep the color spectrum as true to correct as possible. MY OPINION: All of that has been opinion supported with facts. The OLED TVs are all about BIG COLOR and DEEP Colors... but that doesn't mean TRUE COLOR. So that is the question. If you want something that LOOKS better because it is "MORE" than real... then OLED is for you! And understand, I'm not bashing that opinion at all! It is totally valid and if I'm honest when you compare the 2 side by side, the OLED is more pleasing to my eye. But so do Hormone induced strawberries when sitting next to organic ones. It doesn't mean that it is more true to the reality of what you are seeing. In the end, I feel like the Samsung is more like a window on the world rather than a technical representation of it. As a colorist, I'd rather see TRUE color instead of Pretty colors. While I've not made the purchase yet, I'm leaning toward the SAMSUNG QLED. (Like 85% at this point) Unless Sony shows me something I've missed soon, I'm about a month away from buying the QLED. (once the check for my last gig comes in).

So you do Know that Samsung released an update that fixed the problems that rtings talked about (off angled viewing & brightness, and contrast)? If you put the 900e, Q7, and an B6 side by side each TV is going to have one up on the other i.e. color for q7, black levels on the B6, and price point on the 900e (not a big enough difference between 900 and 930e to consider it over). I have personally seen the Q7 before and after the update and there is a big difference and hands down when they talk about the color and brightness on the Q7 there's not a TV that's as good (except maybe the Z9 but hey that's $1500 more). Opinion wise I don't like the oled, brightness isn't good enough for everday use and the whole Dolby vision aspect is useless with a TV that wont break 800 nits (with the upcoming update id save for the Z9 that will handle far better than any oled with dolby vision). Also the Quantum dots of 2017 are different that the ones of 2016 where they added sub pixels for the brighter more accurate color. Being on the OLED band wagon you certainly are a little biased but doing a warning about something you've never seen is certainly discrediting in its own right.

+iplayloud2 I saw them at Best Buy and they look good for a $2k - $3k TV, but not a $6k TV. There are many options in that price range that perform better. I wanted to see if they have one in the Magnolia section but my guy at BB said they are under contract to keep them on the main floor. With all the fluorescent lights? Seems steange, right? They do this because all that light hides the TVs shortcomings. Very sneaky Samsung.

+1Grandhustler Hi! I would skip on the QLED. If you have tons of money, I would wait to see how much the Sony A1 77" OLED costs. That thing is probably going to be the top dog of 2017. As for Samsung, I think the KS line is great. I'm not too familiar with all the details, but anything with full array backlight will give you better black levels. That's what an LED/LCD struggles with. Check out this review of the KS9800 from 4k: 4k.com/tv/samsung-ks9800-review-suhd-4k-ultra-hd-240mr-smart-led-tv-un65ks9800-un78ks9500-un88ks9500/

Hello, I am one of those people who have been watching OLED technology develop over the past 10+ years, anxiously awaiting OLED Tv’s. Unfortunately I have encountered problems with OLED that I simply can’t ignore. Last time I visited Best Buy to check out the newest OLED & QLED Tv’s I was disappointed to discover that every single OLED on display had significant burn in issues. Every single OLED TV!! I am sure that Best Buy is hard on their TV’s but in my family I have three young boys and it is common for them to leave the TV with static images for many hours and I think there is a real possibility that I would end up with burn in issues. Best Buy’s extended warranty covers burn in so I would definitely get the warranty if I were to buy an OLED. On the other hand, in my subjective opinion the QLED has an outstanding picture. They are definitely much brighter than OLED’s and in my opinion have better color quality. I know that technically the OLED has blacker blacks but it is very hard for me to perceive the difference. To my eye’s the QLED blacks are very dark. Also, to my eye’s the QLED picture is MUCH better than the best LED’s. I guess what I am saying is that maybe the differences between the TV’s is more nuanced than you indicated. If I were to buy a TV today I would either buy a Sony OLED with the BB extended warranty or one of the QLED’s. It will be interesting to see what improvements we will see in 2018 with the new OLED’s and the Samsung micro dot technology.

It pretty clear that you are a LG fan and your trying to push negative stuff about Samsung just because you like a different brand. Please take note that not everyone should like what you do, and if you wanna prove something to someone, try and get your own facts. Don't come with other websites comments or stuff that other people did. You didnt do anything here but to promote other peoples bullshit on other websites. So please, do your own research, open up a TV , test it yourself and film it, then start giving opinions based on what experience you had. Cheers
@TechnoDad
@TechnoDad 7 жыл бұрын
+Sergiu Mr Smith Actually I didn't push negative stuff about Samsung. Samsung itself is doing something negative. Shady marketing practices, saying it's new tech when it's not, and making the name look like OLED to trick unwitting and unknowing consumers to think it's the same or similar. We both know that's not true. It's funny how people always seem to focus on me taking one thing from rtings.com instead of getting the point of the video. It's a buyer beware video. That's all. Don't believe the hype! Oh yeah, Samsung only supports HDR10. $6K for a TV that only supports 1 of 4 HDR technologies. Buyer beware!

No, actually, it was a warning about Samsung's 'marketing trickery.' Passing of old tech as new tech and labeling it so similar to it's competitor...OLED...QLED...so no, you clearly didn't get the point of the video. I only brought up what rtings found out about the nits reading they AND Samsung got from those Q7s...as it turns out, Samsung actually has a bad batch of Q7s that are in the marketplace. So there could be a recall coming out shortly...god knows Samsung doesn't need another recall. Anyway, thanks for watching!!
@AnthonySimmons0226
@AnthonySimmons0226 7 жыл бұрын
Techno Dad I've seen these tvs live at CES as well as in stores. Hands over fist improvements over SUHD last year. color accuracy, better blacks and contrast. Secondly, even at 800 nits on a bad day it's a brighter display than OLED. Lastly, I think you should revisit this comparison of OLED Vs. QLED once you get a chance in person to look at the Q9. Unlike OLED, that panel is not the same as a Q7/Q8.
@AnthonySimmons0226
@AnthonySimmons0226 7 жыл бұрын
Marketing is the name of the game. You can only improve so much these days. LG's new nanotechnology they are adding to OLED is old new as Samsung had used that in 2015. LG increased their 2017 models to do 800+ nit which we know Samsung had 1000 or more last year. Let's hope there's not image retention either. Nothing worse than spending 3k or more for a beautiful display that hold imagine retention.
@TechnoDad
@TechnoDad 7 жыл бұрын
It's very hypocritical to say I haven't spent any time with a QLED to make the comments I've made, when you are talking about image retention and not enough nits on an OLED. Since you don't have one and never have spent any time with one. I'm sure I've seen more 4K UHD content on my OLED in both HDR10 and Dolby Vision than you have to ever make the claim that it isn't bright enough and it has image retention. Don't tell me to not repeat what I've heard about a TV I have no experience with, when you are doing the exact same thing. Get it? Oh wait, the Q9 is an LCD/LED TV that's edge lit...how is that going to have better PQ? Does that make sense to you? If the TV can't produce the color 'black,' you won't get a good picture. It doesn't matter how bright the TV can get, if 'gray' is the only 'black' it can produce, your picture quality will suffer. Inherently, that is the issue with LCD TVs, which is what the QLED is...it's an LCD TV.

LG's gamble with OLED is paying off. OLED will become the standard in much the same way BLU RAY beat HD DVD, and VHS beat Beta. Samsung knows they are falling behind, and so they are trying to use marketing gimmicks as a desperate effort to close the gap between Led and OLED technologies. Panasonic and Sony are trying to catch up in the OLED market, and Samsung is quickly falling to the back of the pack. Once you see OLED, it's pretty hard to go back to LED.

+105116914474692524114 For the most part, I watched pretty much everything in 4K that I could when I got my budget 4K TV. I'll say this, I was always on the hunt for more 4K videos on KZfaq...I got hooked. Next thing I did was watch everything that looked interesting in 4K HDR on Netflix. There really aren't any 4K channels. DirecTV is trying to get that up and running, but the cost is crazy right now. My wife watches lots of TV and that's all 1080, and it looks GREAT on our 4K TVs, both of them. I would recommend looking at the 55" or 65" Sony X900E. Hope that helps!

HI! I have an LG E6 OLED. No, the 850D and 930D are Sony's LEDs from 2016. They just released the 930E and 940E are the new 2017 models. You should check out what Sony has to offer. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, which has some sort of a shelf life. But let's be real here, unless you're running that OLED 24 hours a day for 4 or 5 years at a time...you might have an issue. My family had a Fujitsu Plasma back in 2003, and it was supposed to die in 8 years. That thing is still going strong!! No burn in, and it's not dead after 14 years of use.

OLED have burn-in and are only good in very dark rooms and cost a lot more and won't last as long as a QLED and darker picture that is not as bright as a QLED. The 2017 Samsung QLED were not good but the 2018's are amazing.

I work in home theatre, and I do agree samsung slapped a QLED tag (can't blame them for marketing tactics and product placement next to OLED) and definitely increased the $$ I bought an 65" 8C (employee discount) and the brightness levels (nits) are much higher compared to a 7c. That said if you dont want a "fancy" looking tv, but get the best bang for your buck go with a sony 900E. The 930E is a bit nicer but not worth the extra $ . Thanks for the review!

The picture on the e6 is slightly better it's a little brighter for sure plus it comes with a sound bar so I love it but still love my curved oled too. Both TVs have 3D even though I won't use it much I like having the option. I was lucky enough to catch an open box for a deal I couldn't pass up so I jumped on it (nohomo) OLEDs are expensive but like any TV you just have to know when to buy.

the very big advantage of oled in the qled w/c is the oled is energy saving because it doesn't have a backlighting which can't produce more lights unlike the qled is a higher brightness that can produce more lights so a highly consumption watt .

I´m thinking of getting a new TV for games in a dark room. That means clouding, flashlights and stuff will be very noticeable for me if I use an LED. And I HATE this stuff. They are also not allowed to play anything but the CGI Samsung demo, and hey can't move it off the main floor into the darker, Magnolia section. Wonder why Samsung wants their flagship TV out under all fluorescent lights? The lights cover up the TVs weaknesses. It's all shady.

Although your comment is from 7 months ago, I saw 65" Q7C at Best Buy's Magnolia section last weekend, it was almost next to LG OLED and it was considerably brighter. Yes OLED has richer blacks but for gamers, OLED is a no go. I have a friend who plays non stop and I can see burn ins after 2 years of use and that was a $5k TV at the time. I'm not saying Sammy is better but for brighter colors it did look superior to LG. 65" Q7C is $2199 nowadays.

I'm no genius, but doesn't "great color volume" mean that the image actually retains its color off angle rather than having an extreme wash out effect? Also, you didn't mention the nits of the LG? Also, what is the black level difference? How much of the DCI-P3 does the LG OLED reach? Does 4K content utilize the depth of black level on the LG? Also, if you purchased in November doesn't that mean you were comparing 2016 holiday pricing to a 2017 just released pricing? Also, in what environment did rtings do the testing? Was it a controlled lighting environment (the reason I ask is because the average living room isn't a controlled lighting environment)? Also, image retention means burn in right? Does the QLED have burn in? If an OLED gets burn in what is the repair process cost and time frame? Just a few questions that weren't answered all while encouraging people to spend a few thousand...

Starting to look into TVs, was basically set wanting a 4K, OLED with HDR. Saw these QLEDs in the shop, and thought they looked really good (didn't spend enough time to compare with the OLED). I wasn't aware at first that QLEDs are actually still LCDs, took me a few Google search results researching the technology before I figured that out. So far, I've been able to gather, QLEDs are brighter than OLED, but OLED has far better blacks (which is why i'm interested in OLED) Thanks for this video, it's been a great help in my research. I'm looking at the LG C7 OLED 55" atm, which seems to score even Higher than the E6 you talk about in the video

+Grugg Hi! I'm glad you were able to learn something from this video! The new C7 is a great choice. As far as not being bright enough, the 2017 line can reach up to 800 nits. When you can produce a proper black, you don't need the set to be super bright. Also, the 2017 will support 4 types of HDR.

Isn't it kind of interesting that Rtings slammed that Samsung QLED for something it straight up ignores for OLEDs (brightness)? HDR is the reason I would buy a 4K TV. HDR is supposed to be based on high brightness levels. Otherwise, you wouldn't need a certain brightness level to get the premium HDR TV certification. HOWEVER, this isn't the case for OLEDs. The rules were changed for them. Yes, OLEDs have perfect blacks. But, color volume is the way to get me. If your TV can only get to 1/3 the levels my TV can get, I am seeing more lifelike colors. Your TVs would just give you great shadow details. In the real world, most movies mastered are to 4000 nits to 10,000 nits. Most scenes are not in the darkest of areas (where OLED beats LCD tech). I don't think a lot of people understand that very LITTLE perceived difference between a top tier LCD TV and an OLED, where OLEDs start to out perform LCDs (darkness-wise). Therefore, I need a TV that has the highest nits. HDR is about brightness and lifelike colors without image retention. And, no, I'm not a Samsung fanboy. I own very little in the way of Samsung products. By the same token, I'm not an OLED fanboy. There are things OLEDs are great at (largely SD content). They are unbeatable at that. When it comes to turning SD content into NEAR HDR content and HDR content, LCD wins. Some people pick an OLED for the extremely small amount of dark content were OLEDs can go darker. I pick LCD (but NOT the new Samsung QLEDs) for all the OTHER times. EDIT: Also, Samsung never said they had perfect side viewing, as Rtings hinted at. Samsung said they are offering BETTER viewing angles. There is a difference. ;)
@TechnoDad
@TechnoDad 7 жыл бұрын
I recall a Samsung rep saying QLED had better viewing angles at CES this year. They used an OLED that had washed out colors as a comparison. I use to own a few Samsung LED TVs, and they were great until I got a Panasonic plasma, one of the 'Kuro Killers.' So I'm all about the infinite black levels. To me if a TV can produce infinite black, there is no need for it to be super bright. I feel like the whole 'nits war' is here because LCD/LED TVs just can't do black correctly, and have to blast your eyes with brightness. The human eye gets attracted to things that are brighter and will think pictures look better when brighter, and that's why TVs at stores are maxed out on demo mode. I just watched some Planet Earth II on 4K UHD Blu Ray on my OLED and the colors pop and the images are stunning.

aaron pace your wrong mate.... lol... contrast is blacks Vs White. not just black alone lol... OLED can produce and infinite amount of black coz the pixel shuts off but in terms of white OLED sucks which gives it a negative contrast ratio and only 2400:1 shades.... where's as QLED might not produce infinite levels of black but can produce near black levels and greater whites giving it a ratio of 5200:1 shades in comparison to OLED and a pozitive contrast ratio of blacks Vs White. which means if you were to watch a dark scene with many different shades of black grey and white QLED would show more details... where as OLED would have lumps of dark areas where the darkest black and the closest lighter shades of black wouldnt be able to be differentiated coz it lacks in number of shades. your welcome !

OLED will not have any clouding or banding issues as each pixel has it's own individual light. While LEDs will have clouding or banding issues. OLED will overall offer the superior picture quality. QLED is still the old LED technology that's rebranded. I was thinking about getting the LG's B7 or C7 2017 line tv but may end up picking up the C6 2016 in the next couple of months instead. The 2017 lines may be slightly brighter but the C6 will have the firmware update with the 2 other HDR formats and offers 3D for the cheaper price.

you do not know what you are talking about, the important thing is is the difference between the deepest blacks and the brightest white , and even if an OLEd have a little less in peek, brightness , cos samsung numbers are shit , look the S7 reviews from rtings, they bought two units on amazon , they have 700 nits ... instead of a Thousand... even samsung came investigate ... so between a LED or OLED , it's merely the same, cos the LED will have brighter image but shitty black , and the OLED will have infinite black cos no backlight and despite 500 nits the difference betwwen those values will be similar and have a very similar result... in peak brigtness

What if the consumer light the better contrast ratio during brighter images? With man rating websites such as the one you're using it's all very opinion based, when you rate each one of the specifications outside the image the ratings are also going to vary such as with the no gap mount and one connect box Samsung offers. It's known all around not just in TVs that Samsung is doing different things to improve their products and are taking risks that are paying off much more. The image might not be much different from last years but the features of the TV itself are improved

Nick Hernandez Don't, OLED is the most efficient way of using light for imaging display.. but it is by nature prone to early failure.. The same hability it has to shut down individual light dots makes it have an irregular wear.. I've experienced some pixels are blacker.. some of them are more blue than others.. Id recommend Edge led for a long lasting experience or individual back light array for precision local dimming.. Just avoid oled until it gets perfected

Got the 55 Q7F a few weeks ago and its awesome. I dont ever look at subjective number based ratings. Home Theater magazine had a decent review on this and the picture is impressive without the risk of burn in that exists with OLED and AMOLED at present. It's true QLED is an light modulation trick for conventional LED tech that allows them to achieve almost the same black levels as OLED/Plasma. Better black levels translates to better color accuracy. Can't comment on the performance as a computer monitor but the image is amazing off of BR and Netflix from Chromecast. This TV is expensive and is not for everyone most definitely but if you want OLED performance but have reservations about the durability of the screen if you tend to leave static images up then conventional full-array ( Sony XBR series, Samsung, and LG ) have a few models each or QLED is an option as well. LG is always a little less expensive than Samsung as they are still trying to capture market share in the US. Once properly calibrated the image on most modern high end TVs should be excellent. Yes Samsung TVs command a higher price, yes Samsung spends a boatload on marketing, but do not buy a TV based on semi subjective numbers based ratings. Here is why. Rtings said bluntly in their review of my TV with respect to color accuracy that it is significantly better than the LG OLEDs which is to be expected. They drew the intensely subjective conclusion however that this TV is a poor value for the money. IMO at this pricepoint all TVs are a "poor value" if you want a good value buy a Vizio if you want state of the art performance you buy Sony, Samsung, LG. A 10-20 percent difference in price at this level should not have an effect on affordability as its like complaining that a BMW 5 series is a poor value for the money. If someone believes that then they should go over to the Honda dealer where they probably belong.
@TechnoDad
@TechnoDad 7 жыл бұрын
+Chris Dooley Thanks for your insight, and I agree with some of what you said. Saying Samsung commands a higher price just means they can charge what they want, which is BS. $6k for an edge-lit LCD TV?? I made the 6 hour round trip to Best Buy and saw them in person. The Q7 and Q9 were on display. I'll say this, they look good! BUT, they do NOT look $6k good. These sets should have been priced around the $3k mark. I mean shit, Samsung was giving away BBQ grills with TVs. Clearly they are feeling the sting of charging too much for old tech. It's clean they want a piece of the OLED pie, but they want to do it their own way. As far as talk about image retention on OLEDs, that is always brought up by people that don't own one. I have a Fujitsu Plasma that's been in the family since 2003. No image retention at all, and it's still going strong when they said it would die after 8 years. It's really all about user error. All the pictures people have shown me of OLED are from stores that constantly display static images for 12-14 hours a day at the brightest levels.

Doesn't LG's WOLED is not completely true OLED panel? I mean for the light-emitting side, yes it is OLED tech but because of organic material short-lifespan LG decided to use white OLED as a pixel with color filter on top. So the color producing side it's still not quite true OLED(it's like best version of LCD though because of per pixel lighting). As I'm an OLED fan I still think that brightness is very important for HDR even if the UHD Premium standard for OLED brightness is lower than LCD but the color volume doesn't quite match LCD with higher brightness yet. Until OLED can get a brightness floating around 1000nits (with true OLED tech) , I'll give a winner in term of HDR to LCD(with higher brightness) anyway. (Samsung QLED as you mentioned is not count though.)

They say it's new tech, but it's not, it's last year's tech that they refined. The Samsung reps talked about this in every video I saw them in from CES 2017. People are blowing their load on this when they should be waiting to see Sony and Panasonic's OLEDs. If OLEDs are old, why are Sony and Panasonic picking them up?

Panasonic use to make 'Kuro Killers,' and I was lucky enough to own one. Their plasmas were amazing, and what's the closet tech to plasma? It's OLED. Hey, if you wanna spend $6K on a tv that only supports one type of HDR, then by all means, go for it. But don't delude yourself by thinking These other companies just want a piece of the OLED pie. I would argue that unless you are 2 feet from any 4K screen you are not going to notice much of a difference. The suggested distance is 1 to 1.5 times the screen diagonal. Finally, the two technologies are totally different. I have seen both sets up close and honestly, think they are both great I do like the one connect hub upgrade path for Samsung tv's. Finally, why would you ever play competitive games on 4K@60hz TV I would also wait to make any decisions until we start seeing properly graded HDR content.

Why else don't you think the Q9 hasn't been reviewed by them, because "it is the best led LCD tv ever made and outperforms OLED in a lot of ways" I was fortunate enough to go see all the TVs in person and choose what looked and performed the best to me. Unfortunately if the Q9 does not impress me on my home environment I will have to go with the runner up darker less impressive lg oled g7 or A1E.

If you wanted to step up to the Sony 55X930E (amzn.to/2DhtMbx), you could but the black level will be better with the 900E, but you get a better processor on the 930E. I would go into a store and check it out with your own eyes. I think the X900E is a great 55" TV for $1,200.

Also! 55" LG OLEDs are now $1,499 until the new year. You might want to look into that as well! amzn.to/2DhCTcf

Love your channel but I do have to disagree (somewhat) with your contention that QLED is crap. When I visit Best Buy to view flatscreens with Samsung QLED and LG OLED devices displayed side by side it's clearly obvious that OLED has a superior picture with crisper images and deep, deep blacks. But, in my opinion, QLED is the obvious choice if you don't want to spend twice the money on a great screen. Just over a year ago I purchased a 2017 Samsung 55" Q6F for just over $1000 which had just been price dropped from $1500. An OLED would have been my first choice but that would have required spending at least twice as much. After using the Samsung for a year now I'm more than happy with it. Except for.... A week ago the Q6F started displaying problems with its HDMI Arc CEC connection. It's connected to an Onkyo TX-NR686 (which you recently reviewed) and for some reason failed to see the amp correctly and would not push audio. It would only use the Q6F's onboard speakers. As well, the optical sound output failed. The one year Samsung warranty had just run out....(damn, should have bought the extended warranty) so I was just a little more than pissed. Googling the problem online revealed it's not an isolated problem. Resolved the situation by moving my Roku Ultra and Playstation to the Onkyo and all is well. My fingers are crossed that the Q6F won't have any further problems. With that caveat, I'm still happy with the Q6F but would rethink purchasing another Samsung but not due to the picture quality. My previous TV was a 12-year-old Toshiba Regza that never had a single issue in its life and is still in use by a friend I gave it to. Come on Samsung...you can do better!!

Hi Rich! This video was about the first QLEDs and how they just rebranded old technology and charged almost $6K (OLED prices) for their flagship Q9. Pretty lame if you ask me. I've owned some really good Samsung LCD TVs in the past and I am planning on buying the Q80R, this year's OLED as I need to test some functionality. I will definitely put it up against my OLED.

They are the best for led.so you either like oled better or go with something that will have burn in.it will last longer too.with that said, oled has a better picture by far but they come with problems, that samsungs tvs wont.

You should do an update of this video cuz 1) the 2018 Q7 got a much better rating overall and 2) its not $4000....I know cuz I didnt pay 4K for my Q7. They might have nifty PR campaigns but Samsung do make good TVs. That not not say LG doesn't cuz they too have nice looking TVs too. Its personal preference, I've always been a samsung person. Guess it's all on the eye of the beholder

I think for the price tag a fald system like Panasonic's x902 honeycomb structure implementation or Sony's higher end z9d would be more fitting. I currently own a Sony x850c/55" 4K TV. It's a great TV with triluminous tech (qd), but having picked up on edge light bleed at times, its lack of local dimming and lack of quality HDR. Either a FALD LED TV or OLED are my only potential upgrades. So with these Samsung TVs being edge lit, it's pushing me away from them. Brightness and black levels are a double edged sword in HDR land. You can either push brightness to its max and have decent blacks but with the defects of led backlight tech, or you can have ridiculously amazing blacks with pixel by pixel dimming with close to 1000nits currently with 97-99% DCI colour accuracy. also depends on if u are a home theater enthusiast or it's a living room tv

I had a KS8000 last year and the panel went bad after a few months. Returned it to BB and bought a Sony X93D and wow does sony's true motion 960 X1 chip deliver the smoothest picture I ever seen. Samsung's 240hz is a juddering mess. Next tv I get will be a Samsung Q series or a LG/Sony OLED. Even the P series from Vizio looks great.

I looking at buying 65" Q7F! It the best UHD TV on the market today! I like the look and sharpness of the Q7F! Blows the OLED from Sony away!

The reviews at rtings.com show 36.8 ms lag for the LG E6 @4k+HDR vs Q7F doing 24.4 ms. And despite that they give the same 8.4 score to both TVs. On non-HDR gaming the difference in score is 8.5 vs 8.4, for a 20.3 ms vs 34.1 ms: 0.1 difference in score when comparing the best input lag TV to an average one.
