Take an un-edited, raw 4k footage tour through Sanibel Island 3 and Half weeks after Hurricane Ian made landfall. Access to Sanibel Island is still limited to government issued permits only -- and for good reasons. The destruction is both massive and mid-blowing. The amount of work that has taken place to rebuild the roads, remove trees, reinstate power has been a huge undertaking. Kudos to all of the first responders for their tireless work as we everyone works to restore and rebuild this beautiful area that is loved by so many.

I was thinking the same thing! I could be completely wrong, but the first segment looked like East Gulf and the second segment looked like maybe West Gulf out by where the beach accesses 1 through 6 were?

My parents lived there for 25 years, I have been there hundreds of times....I recognize nothing. Absolutely devastating.

The silence speaks volumes. The video also shows where the restoration company's are not...commercial is priority. 80% of the residential work is subcontracted out, good & bad. Good video.

I just checked against Google maps. The first segment of the video is heading west on East Gulf. At 00:41 seconds, we are at the corner of East Gulf and Spoonbill. In the second segment which starts around the 3 minute mark, we are heading west on West Gulf. At 4:54, we are at the corner of West Gulf and Lake Murex Circle. The third segment starts at 9:32 going east on West Gulf Drive. At 11:46, we are at the intersection of Daniel Dr and West Gulf. The fourth segment starts at 12:23 at Middle Gulf and Cardium and ends by turning left into the waterfront condos on Donax.

Thank You I was staying 661 Cardium we left the day before the hurricane. I’ve tried to find a video to see how the house looks currently.Heartbroken for all of the residence.

That's my neighborhood extension. I can't recognize it. I went home last week. Had to split the scene. Mold after 6-8ft water in house. No electricity since Sept. Hence, it's a toxic mold fest. Boo.

@@AMB-fe3dn I hope you are right, because I see a large amount of mature trees down. Unless they plant mature trees it will take some time for the beauty of the island to come back to it's glory.

first went to Sanibel in 1993 and two hurricaines have made the place unrecognizeable from the beautiful island it was

It would be so helpful for a little narration as to where you are and where you are headed! Sanibel was and still will be our happy place......! We stayed at Song of the Sea and Sanibel Arms east. Jerries and Bailes were our places to go for food and meals. A little narration please......TomZ

This video starts off traveling westbound on East Gulf, but a little ways after he already had passed The Colony.

Would be nice if someone did an actual drive thru with a camera pointing to the right and left and telling us what we are looking at and the names of the condos and stores rather than looking down the road at the trash piles.

I’m getting 360p too. 4k videos sometimes take 24 to 48 hours to fully process after they are uploaded to KZfaq. Once it finishes it will be 4k. I upload a lot to KZfaq too so I figured I’d answer this question for you. :)
