Trying to finish up the reassembly of my Emmick Shifter Kart Project, except every part had the wrong or missing hardware, as well as the damaged stuff.

@deepblue812
@deepblue812 3 жыл бұрын
@@dannysdailys That's plenty of power for tearing around the parking lot. The kart essentially weighs nothing, so it's not like it's pushing a bunch of weight. And you know how Sarah operates; cursory search online looks like those Predator 212's are pretty easily modified to get double hp. Triple+ if you put some effort into it.

Racing Kart build tip: Always put a couple split locking collars on each side of your rear axle bearings .. .and NEVER USE those bearing setscrews... NEVER!!! Such set screws usually come loose, and put upsets in your axle that make it nearly impossible to slide components on/off. If that rear axle slips and shifts during cornering... you will find yourself on your head REAL quick (seen it many times at the kart track, lol). Also put one of those collars behind each rear wheel hub too ... for added assurance against slipping, to keep you off your head. This is how we set up all our racing karts.

I also have an emmick express go kart I’m currently in the process of rebuilding as well. It looks no where near as nice as yours though :( I’m not an expert but much like you I had to do a lot of digging and research. I would say your kart is a 1987 express since my frame is pretty much identical to yours, with the exception of my side nerf bars not being the double piping. Awesome build!

For a rough set up of the front end set the kart on a flat surface for all 4 tires. Then turn your steering wheel all the way to the left and take a measurement of the clearance between the tire and floor. Then turn it all the way to the right. Adjust your spindles to get the same clearance on both front tires. This should help with the handling of the kart. Good luck.

Thank you for a informative and entertaining video as always! Nitpicking, but always use a washer againt painted surfaces, and orientate the washer so the stamped rounded edge side is against the painted surface. You used a hammer for the wheel bearings, could you not use your bearing press for the wheelbearings? I am asking because you can damage a bearing with a hammer. Your garage need a cabinet with lubes, grease and oils for different and various lubrication purpuses, and rags and tissue to go for it. Oily rags and tissue paper can self ignite, so please get a bin with a hinged lid that closes itself. Looking forward to your next video already! Cheers.
