Fully endorse rim selection, including size. I've been doing gunmetal/graphite on mine (Tacomas, and an FJ40). Dupli-Color makes a nice rattlecan graphite wheel paint which makes touchups cheap and easy.

Hey, ex-age mechanic here too. I'd stay black with the steelies, more rugged. As for the LED lights that you were gonna tuck, I'd run an RGB LED strip under there for a little touch of ambient lighting, kinda like the blue ones in your garage videos. Bonus is if you ever party down at the shop then you can kill the main lights and rock the color changers. OK bye

Actually I saw that wheel choice, I just pulled 16" alloys off of my '15 Frontier and put 17" steelies that were factory spares on certain years of Frontier, Xterra, and Pathfinder on. They're durable, they can help reduce the effects of balance problems with cheaper tires, and they don't break when being used offroad. Plus cleanup if they get scuffed/scratched is some sandpaper and paint. EDIT: and tires, I like the 235/85/16. I went with 255/75/17 because adding more width doesn't really help in the Sonoran desert sand, and narrower tires are easier to keep aligned without excessive wear.

Love the direction you've steered your channel, Sarah (nice mix of car reviews, shop projects, vlogs, etc). The Xterra is such great content because it's a "real world" transformation of a vehicle that may have otherwise been abandoned to scrap.

Sarah's a dream tom-boy for most mechanically inclined guys to work with... not to mention the cute way about her! I totally agree with the steel wheels, because they are very strong and rugged for off roading... as repairs are much easier on them!

I say keep the lights where they are and put LED’s under them for a cool customizable under glow! Also was really crazy seeing the cars by the lift and it really almost done, you finally hit your goal of a shop for project cars and no more breaking your back! Well less back breaking at least lol, so proud of you!❤️

It's nice to have the straight lines of the bulbs reflect off painted surfaces for body work.
