Hey everyone, today we are taking a look at building a logistics supply depot in satisfactory update 5. This depot takes a bunch of raw materials from all around the map and parcels the outputs to perfectly supply for nearby factories and power plants. These techniques can be used from the very early game all the way through to the late game and make setting up new factories a breeze.

Yea this is helpful, a lot of my factories have the raw materials get completely processed there, this would help getting processed materials to my factory. Thanks for the build idea!

Glad it can help! I like using depots like this when a factory doesnt make use of all the nearby resources. If you only need 500 iron but are near 2 pure nodes, for example, you have to take some of that iron away if you want to capitalize on those nodes, but to get the right ratios split between two or more different factories can be tricky. Thats where this kind of depot comes in. Of coure, in the real world I just as often leave the excess iron unused and just build on a new node, but that's just how life goes sometimes.

Interesting video. I'm new to the game and hadn't thought about this method. What I had been doing is taking nearby nodes and building smelting facilities to produce the max amount of that ingot possible. The problem I run into is exactly what you are explaining, ie without a way to dictate quantities I haven't found a reliable way to distribute the correct amounts of materials to other factories. Hopefully in the future we can get some sort of logic capabilties added to the game.

your builds a very simple and not trying to build something that is just a mega project that can be used for small scale or scaled up at a later time.

That is the goal! I try to make the game more accessible, when I am playing I make a note of whenever a task feels daunting or very difficult (like late game logistics or nuclear power) and then try to work through it and figure out how to make it easy to understand so I can pass that knowledge along.

@@MrTwidget69 Good plan. Would it be helpful for me to put out my plutonium video soon? I was going to give it a couple weeks but Ive already got the design worked out (sort of, its functional but not pretty), can push that up to next week.

@@Dekoba I think I have mine pretty much done. I have 3 blenders feeding a particle accelerator then an assembler then a sink. I just have to finish setting up the nitric acid and sulfuric acid production. I will two of theses set up one for each of my set of 9 reactors

Looks fantastic. I have everything to setup multiple nuclear power plants, but i didn't want to make another spaghetti factory to supply them. I think I'll try to build something like the factory in your video.

Its a great general concept and can be applied to almost any factories or places on the map. I have used these often when I get to the stage of the game where I have more resources than needed in a given area. Its particularly good with things like sulfur or uranium where 1 node can provide for many factories.

Interesting build. You didn't talk much about why you would do this though? Seems to add some complexity by merging the lines and then unmerging them at the destination.
@Dekoba
@Dekoba 2 жыл бұрын
the merging and unmerging has to happen somewhere, if you have a steel factory making ingots and it needs to go to 5 destination factories, you could have that happen in a lot of different ways - with 5 long, individual supply lines, for example, or with a depot like this, or with a mega factory that has everything built in 1 place. In general we build processing near to its resources, but in the late game, you dont have that luxury. steel, nitrogen, and uranium, for example, all dont exist in the same place. This depot is one approach, which looks nice and allows you to build your destination factories more freely.

@@Dekoba ahhh so it's a "converge in one place; and then diaspora from there" philosophy. That wasn't really clear to me from this video because you built "converge in one place... and then everything transit from there to the real destination". But maybe that's on me for not paying enough attention. But I'm not crticising! It's just that most youtubers I've been watching use different strategies (e.g. "provide enough stuff by overflow" and "do logistics via a train network, so that everything new is just adding load & unload stations") and you dove straight into "how" without dwelling on "why".

something I never see talked about is how many batteries do you really need per min to make drones worth while…
@Dekoba
@Dekoba 2 жыл бұрын
Thats a hard question to answer. I am making a 150/min battery factory right now and that should provide for about a hundred drones - far more than I am lilkey to use, but basically a drone flight uses 5 batteries + 1/km of flight, round trip. so 2 bases that are 5km apart, a flight would take 15 batteries (5+5+5). That flight would take about 10 minutes and could move 9 stacks of items. For things that stack to 50, this is a bit less than a mk 1 belt. Drones are just one tool in the toolbox, and can be approximated at ~ 1-2 batteries/min per drone, but are really only good at moving small amounts of items. so things like end game constructed stuff, rather than ore or other very plentiful items. I think my last time playing with drones I ended up using a bout 60 in the world before I didnt have any more good uses for them, so for my current world I think 150 batteries/min should be enough.
