This movie came out when I was thirteen/fourteen years old. My mom and stepdad took me to see it in the theater. We had the soundtrack to it, which I got to blare on a Marantz stereo. I was living in Miami at the time. I had a next door neighbor same age as me. She and I used to practice these dance moves over at her house. Those sure were the days. I didn't know then how good I had it!

I was 8 when this came out; only child to a single young mother and I must of seen it 3 times in it's Theatrical release. Even though I didn't understand it, loved it Late 80's-early 90's was into metal & grunge and the strange looks I would get when a friend would find this in my vinyl collection. Still love this!

I was -22 when saturday night fever came out, my parents showed it to me when i was smaller. To be honest I didnt think much of it, otherthan all the cool dances. Im now 17, and I wish i were you guys. To anyone who was born and raised in 70s± I hope the modern times are too boring. What a time peroid, before phones, internet, social media, and shitty music ;)

I went to a salsa dance studio in Brooklyn in October when I was visiting New York. Rather than have a salsa lesson before the social, they had a hustle lesson. They specifically mentioned this scene from the movie--one that I love--and proceeded to teach us the first 20 seconds of this dance. The leads were also encouraged to add in their own moves just like when Travolta says, "Follow me this time." We finished our practice to "You're a Native New Yorker" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7qSfd2QmqqXo2g.html. A few of the people waiting for the social started singing along, a guy in an "I love New York" T-shirt showed up, the party began and it was just magical.

43 years ago now. How Deep Is Your Love hits number one on X-Mas 1977. I truly thought John Travolta was a true top stud when I was a 12 year-old 6th grader starting middle school. Hey still love this 43 years later because even though disco and the '70s may be long, long gone. Everything was so much better back then. Cars, the clothes and disco just didn't and still doesn't bother me. I even like to dress up as Tony Monero wearing my short dark wavy hair, gold chains, and brown polyester pants. Hey gets compliments!

@@spaceace4387 Yep. Thanks for agreeing with me. I heard the Tavares were "furious" that their version wasn't in the Dance Contest Sequence but there was nothing they could do since they didn't own the rights to the Song. Too bad they could have sang all the way to the Bank due to Songwriting Royalties. The Music Of Philadelphia no matter what it is whether it's Kenny Gamble/Leon Huff's Music or Thom Bell/Linda Creed's work with The Stylistics is just as popular in England as it is in the US. Alot of Boy Band/Girl Group Icons "Cover" the music. From Jimmy Somerville (The Communards), then Take That, then on the very first Finale of Pop Idol in the UK Gareth Gates (The Runner Up) sang "You Are Everything" with Rachel Stevens formerly of S Club 7.

⚠️Although the title is easily understood, the full name of the dance is Tango-Hustle. ⚠️ Trivia: Although there was heavy radio airplay, BEE GEES decided not to release the song as a single as it could hamper the sales & unethical towards Tavares with their own version, released as a single which was already selling very well at that time. ⚠️ To me, it's a tie as it depends on the mood. The Tavares version is perfect for the energy depicted in the scene above, however for the mellow, romantic scene in the actual dance contest, nothing will equal the falsetto sweet BEE GEES version. ✅Tavares version: Real Soulful ✅BEE GEES version: Simply Cute.
