I have at least one of every combination they produced. And that is a wide variety. everything from a .22LR over a .410. To a 30-06 over a 12 gauge. Mine are all the older fused barrel type with wood stocks, top lever, side lever and a few very rare under levers, they have the release made into the trigger guard and you pull a small lever on the guaard to open them.. I've never been real fond of the ones with the separated barrels. They are very versatile and, in my experience, VERY accurate. I inherited my first one from my granddad, a .222 over a 20 gauge and I was hooked. I started buying everyone I saw that was in good shape and they were CHEAP because at that time nobody wanted them. Far less than a hundred bucks in the vast majority of cases. I bought one for $25 at a gun show because the guy was tired of dragging it around. It was a .22 hornet over a 20 gauge. Yup, Love me some Model 24's.

@@dannysmith9217 : There are three posssibiltes. A) Some german and austrian gunmakers/ gunsmiths ( we have only the word Büchsenmacher) still produce custommade Büchsflinten ( see gun in Video), Drilling ( three barrels) , Vierling ( four barrels) or Bergstutzen ( two rifle barrels, one small bore, one big bore) . When you have a big wallet, you can do so. B) lnform yourself about the products of german, austrian or czech gun companies ( Czechia was for centuries part of HRE and Austrian Empire). In case of german hunting gun companies Blaser, Heym, may be Merkel or Krieghoff.C) l am no hunter or gunowner ( german law, i have problems with Autism and depressive problems). But in 2022 in german arms magazine (?) Deutsches Waffenjournal there was an article about german combination guns. Up to 1970s they had been popular among german hunters. But since then , the hunting style changed, especially in last Thirty Years. German Farmers today produce a lot of corn/ maize. For this reason the number of wild boar grow to unknown numbers and became a great problem. On the other hand, modern farming caused a great decline of shotgun game ( socalled Niederwild, hare, rabbits, Dove, duck, phesant, and Rebhuhn, don't know english word). So traditional german , Stalking hunt/ Pirsch ' became rare, while ,Driven hunt/ Treibjagd/ Drückjagd' became prefered. So in last decades, typical german combination guns fell out of favour. This caused, that the market for used combination guns is today rather small. In noted article a german gunmaker/gunsmith was noted. He buys the today no more popular combination guns, formerly luxury items, rather cheap, repairs them and sells them to a nowadays affordable pirce to US clients. I have forgotten the mans name, but in the article was noted, that members of an US society of collectors, who collect german guns ( for example Schützenrifles) know this man. I hope, my comment was helpfull. Waidmannsheil!

I have a set that allows for .20 and .410 to fired from the 12GA. From Short Lane, I have 38 Special, 9 mm, 45 ACP, and two .22 sleeves, normal and rifled. These all do very well out to 35 yards. Not MOA by any means, but PPSA (Paper Plate Standard of Accuracy) for sure! I have inherited a very old 22/410 combo gun. It may be a Stevens, not sure. It's in another state with a relative and I need to plan a long trip to get it. I did call Savage some time back to see if they had any plans to make the 24. @PassivePortfolios Air rifle scopes designed for powerful spring powered rifles are designed to handle the powerful double 'pulse' as the trigger first initiates the sudden forward travel of the piston , then the sudden jolt as it comes to a complete stop a fraction of a second later. They are specifically designed for this mechanical punishment. They only need to be 2x or 3x ( for the 30 - 60 yard shots that humane shooters limit themselves to in the field) , so if they are parallax-adjustable for shooting at twice that distance they might do the trick. The good ones are pretty expensive, though. Like I said , I really like those Marble ring sights.

It's a shame that Savage discontinued the model 24. They continued with the model 42. The M42 is an overpriced POS. MSRP on it is 4x what it's worth. Your gun is just begging for a Williams Ace in the Hole peep/Weaver base combo. It would be perfect for your gun. Drift out the factory rear sight and put it in a safe place. Fill the empty dovetail with a Williams blank. That Weaver base that's on there just gets in the way. If you want to use a scope for deer hunting, use Warne X-high QD rings (model 203LM). The extra height allows the ocular lens to clear the peep sight. Just flip two levers to attach/detach. They return to zero every time.

I think it would be cool in a drilling configuration with a .22 long rifle barrel in between the rifle and shotgun barrel. Then you could really have an optimum cartridge for tons of game. The big problem is regulating the barrels isn’t easy so it’s usually costly. Or it’s cheap but it hits in different places. I mean technically with training you could shoot 8 rounds a minute, but I wouldn’t count on it unless you really trained.

Way to expensive used. Love this type of firearm, but unaffordable

It's all a matter of perspective I guess. I had no issue paying what I did, simply because you're not gonna find another one. And I'm simply not satisfied with the cheap, basic, and boring guns they have new on the shelf at Bass Pro, Academy, or Cabelas
