Update. I had the same issue with 2 of these deadbolts. One on an indoor door and one on an outdoor door so the cold weather theory may not be completely accurate. I had Schlage send me replacements and the same issue again. My fix was to shim the the gap between the plastic slider and the housing it seats against so that the pin sits flush or more flush with the sleeve it rides inside of. One lock needed a felt disc of a certain thickness and the other needed a plastic washer that was a little bit thicker. Both were cut with a scissors to size. You could use a dab of glue but the cover plate should keep everything in place. I'm pretty sure this is the only solution as the solenoid motor in conjunction with the spring acting as a screw is not a very precise piece of engineering in that even if you reset the plastic slide over the spring it will eventually find its way back to the problem position. The other possibility is that the motor just is underpowered or looses power over time or the spring looses memory. Anyway, shimming the slide where it seats was my solution for both. They work perfectly again

Liked it to the point at the end where assembly was critical the fast speed made it impossible to grasp detail I have the same issue with one I got from the crazy bin used it will not connect to rod leading through the lock sounds like it would work but no movement front just spinning around also no key came with it. I have tried to make it work but guess I don't understand the concept of the black plastic and the brad with spring what makes it move back and forth or unlock and reset for another lock episode?

apologies... One key piece of information is that when you disassemble and take the internal cover plate off, be sure to leave the plastic slide where it's sitting on the spring. This is where it's naturally finding it's home position at this point. Albeit a position that's not allowing for normal operation. If it's like mine, there will not only be a gap present between the plastic slide and the housing, the pin will also not be flush with its sleeve. It's from this position that you need to find the right sized spacer to fit into place. The spacer can be anything that hard but still able to be cut down to size with a scissors.

Exactly the problem that I am occasionally starting to have. I’ve had mine for about a year now. It once took about 8 attempts once before it finally engaged; I was almost locked out of my own home, and that’s not the first time it’s happened. I’m going to try this, hopefully it solves the problem.

I found design deficiencies in the Be365 lock, and I did things to minimize the issues. T claim there are two design problems. -- The spring that the motor turns to raise and lower the plastic mecanism The plastic mechanism itself. Let me explain. I took down my Be365 from the front door. That front door faces west, gets the sun all day, and gets the prevailing winds and rain/moisture. One month past the guarantee, the lock stoppped working. . When I went to repair my lock. I noted that the spring, which is used as a spiral ramp to raise and lower the plastic (J shaped mechanism), was covered with a fine layer of rust. That rust surrounded the wire that makes up the coiled spring. The plastic cam that is moved up by the coiled spring is completely flat on the bottom surface. It is therefore a small cause of friction. I call it the J shaped cam, for want of a better name. This is my repair. Spring repair =========== Obtain a very small amount of watch/sewing machine oil (one eye-dropper max). I am thinking you will need about 3 pinheads of oil. Get some graphic from a locksmith, or from the hardware store and make a mixture of the oil and the graphic. With a Q tip, apply that mixture to the spiral spring, With battery in enable/disable the lock action. The motor will spin that spring, Do not oil the spring, but from the Q tip, make it hardly-moist from dipping into the oil-graphite mixture. You should not see any signs of wet oil. The main use of the oil is not for lubricating, but for binding the graphite/oil mixture to the coiled spring. Plastic J shaped cam ================== For the plastic cam that is moved up and down by the spiral spring rotation, on the bottom where the cam slides along the base, and in the slot adjacent to the motorized spring, put the smallest amount of graphic onto the slot on which the cam is moved by the spring, With your breath, blow away all graphite excesses. There should be no visible sign of a graphite, but perhaps some appearance of dust. . One way --wipe the graphite onto the slot and wipe it off. A microscopic amount of graphite does the job. TEST ====== operate the lock to unwind the spring. While inserting the J plastic cam mechanism over the spring, press the end of the spring a small amount towards the motor. Once the J cam is seated, operate the lock to open/close. The J mechanism should now work freely. The lock mechanism working is an indication you succeeded. Once the parts (spring, J mechanism and the little cam that presses downwards against the spring, work a few time,. Reassemble the lock. Design improvements The spiral spring needs to be of stainless steel material -- no oxidation. Otherwise, you will need to buy a replacement lock in the very few years after your puchase and guarantee expire. The design of the larger flat J plastic mechanism should not be entirely flat on the bottom. It should have some pods, Not very thick ones. Pods just thick enough to raise the J cam so that the entire bottom of the cam does not rub against the base. (For my lock, I only dusted the cam. there was just a microscopic addition of graphite. -- NO OIL, OIL Only on the spiral spring, and definitely not visiby black I put the lock together and all is working well. The lock must tolarate -20C snowy weather in winter, and 32C humidity in summer, while installed on a door facing the sun. By the way, the plastic film on the buttons on my lock have split from the plastic losing it's suppleness. Hopefully someone passes this message onto Schlage.

@lsatenstein
@lsatenstein 2 жыл бұрын
@@matejovich I have three of them, and all three work properly. For the one that was stiff in action, I described what I did. The one lock faces the sun from noon to sun down, the other two, facing north east, get morning sun. They are doing the job very very well. I would recommend them for medium security (only 4 digits). Someone could do 20 tries per day, and eventually discover the code.
@matejovich
@matejovich 2 жыл бұрын
@@lsatenstein after teardown and repair I will say they are constructed well. They are also very simple, it's incredible. My issue with the one that faces south is the sun beats down on it daily and the plunger grease was baked and hard/sticky so it wouldn't work right. The parts are mostly metal. It just disassembled it and degreased and REgreased and it works great. Thank you for your comments. I agree with you, you are right.

Maybe just changing out the battery will fix it? I’m completely upset that mine isn’t working either. I’m a 74 year old woman with arthritis in my hands I had my brother install one of these because my hands weren’t strong enough to turn a key. I don’t have the expertise to take my lock apart. I bet it won’t work. I don’t think it’s dirt causing the problem because I have a storm door covering the front door and I would think it’s something else. We have had a cold winter and I bet that cold drained the battery.

The title says "fix." I don't see that you fixed anything - you just took it apart, cleaned all the pieces, and put it back together. But maybe I missed something - the camera work is so jerky that I had a hard time seeing what you were doing. And speeding it up to get through some of it didn't help. In fact, nothing about this was helpful. Our lock doesn't work, to either open or close, and not even with a key; after watching this I still don't know what the problem is or what to do about it. Except maybe replace it with a different lock.

@@matejovich I found that a fresh 9volt battery eliminates the electrical problem. From my perspective, I found that the j plastic cam, lay perfectly flat on the back of the lock. I raised it at some points using the thickness of a hair, aligned to the direction of travel. The length of the pod I made was about the size of a dot and super thin. I used graphite to aid the sliding, but in North America, a product called JIGALOO could be used as well. Jigaloo is transparent, I think it's a teflon powder and does not deteriorate with age. Neither does graphite powder.
