I have suffered from SI joint pain for 13 years and thus been stretching every day just to function and avoid flares up. I have never known how to reduce that gap between the lower back and the floor when lying down until now, and I have done cat and cow stretches in pilate/ yoga for a decade! Thank you!

I have been stretching and doing some very gentle and simple yoga which helps a lot, but this exercise was soothing on a much deeper level. A week ago I woke up with a pinched sciatic nerve right in the sciatic notch where the middle of the butt touches the spine. I'm 68 and I exercise a lot being a martial artist and I figure it'll go away and it's usually does. But in 1990 after recovering from a broken leg I woke up with a pinched nerve, same spot and it stayed with me for 16 years. I exercised every day, the pain was always there. I learned to constantly lean on my right side. My question is this, how did KZfaq know I needed to watch a video on a pinched nerve? Only once a week ago I Googled where the sciatic nerve extends to and saw the chart/picture. Now all of a sudden I'm getting sciatic nerve videos.

I was feeling a smaller gap between my lower back and the floor after doing the excercise, definitely will try to do this daily for some time :) I was wondering: Is this „just“ useful as an excercise, or do you have any tips on how to be mindful of the breathing-hip-relationship in everyday life? I am trying to improve my flat breathing overall, but I never thought about it being related directly to my hip. I do have problems due to a „twisted“ hip though, so of course it would make sense that it impacts my breathing too. I would love a video about breathing with different hip positions while sitting or standing. Thank you, keep up the great work!

that's certainly a possibility. habitual weight distribution, gait patterns lead to the same stress patterns over and over, so yes that's totally possible. Can this be done to heal sciatica duetol4l5s1 disc bulge??
@TaroIwamoto
@TaroIwamoto 2 жыл бұрын
of course I cannot guarantee this will heal sciatica, but improving movement quality and efficiency with more integrated movement can reduce stress to lower back and help reduce sensitivity of sciatic nerve over time.

It’s hard for me to do the movement without using the abdomen, can you extend on that please? ❤️❤️❤️
@TaroIwamoto

yes, you can press your feet into ground to roll pelvis upwards and lighten feet (decrease pressure against ground tiny bit) to roll pelvis downward.

Only problem is I can't lay flat as it's too painful! If I pull both my legs up the pain goes after a bit of discomfort moving my left leg up.
