I first got the sense that earthy concerns have little meaning when I started reading the accounts of near death experiences and people that went to Heaven. One common denominator was all their experiences, both good and bad, were nothing to these people when they went to Heaven. For myself, I use the comparison of a lost love or break up in elementary school. How we thought that was the end of the world but as David points out in his stories, I can't even remember the names of these 'lost loves'. David you do a great job when you critique Islam but your true strength is explaining the faith. Well done!

Hey David, I wanted to say that I've found you and Nabeel and your testimonies around a year ago and they really moved me. I started going to church every Sunday. I even got an opportunity to show the believers in our church these two great testimonies which I have translated to Serbian. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed them, though they were indeed creeped out a bit from your testimony. But I have one question, is there more to a story after you became a Christian? Did you tell Randy about it? What did he say? How were you behaving in the jail for years before going out? Did you fast as Randy did? How did your beliefs about evolution, denominations, etc. formed? What was your answer to previous atheistic objections?(Other than the Resurrection being a made-up story) I'd love to hear more from that story if it exists or if you're open to share more. Did you ever think about writing a book? I'd love to read it. I enjoyed Nabeel's books. Am thinking about translating Nabeel's books. They really touched my heart. Whenever I see Nabeel and hear him talk, I see Jesus through him. I have never seen someone who looks so sincere and good as Nabeel did. Thank you for your work and God bless. Greetings from Serbia.

Why not just accept people for who they are and grow from our own experiences instead of forcing something on someone who should be able to form their own opinions. One of the biggest problems people have with religion is oversaturation. We're seeing the same issues with LGBT stuff if you over do it it becomes a negative. Opposing views are what make us well rounded people and can strengthen our own beliefs without being negative

@@Jakov-or7fp Cool but I'm sure you are aware there are other religions and their own versions of hell. I'm sure you are aware that other people are as confident about their own religion being true as you are about yours. So if Islam is true then what good is it converting a muslim to christianity? And if there is a God at all why place so many people at a disadvantage because most people follow the religion of their parents? Does God want everyone to be saved, or maybe that isn't the God that exists.
@Gorpmeat
@Gorpmeat Ай бұрын
@@JohnCamacho To address your first point: I can be extremely convinced that I can stop a bus with my bare hands, yet that belief will not change the reality that I cannot and there are serious consequences for acting that belief out. The authenticity and confidence of a belief does not indicate the veracity of the belief. In order to justify belief, you look for evidence that the object of your belief is reliable and the consequences of putting it into action. Everyone acts upon their beliefs: if you believed that a chair would seriously injure you, you would not sit on the chair. Those who have had the truth revealed to them have faith for many good reasons, evidence and experience. Your first question could be posed from the perspective of any religion or point of view, which makes it irrelevant. What needs to be addressed is the "if Islam is true", the important questions should be "What is the truth?" and "What evidence is there that it is true?". Jesus Christ is the truth, the way and the life. There is endless evidence of all types such as: Seeing design in creation, the historical accuracy of the Bible, ancient prophecies fulfilled by Jesus, the effects of living it out, countless testimonies of those saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, and much more. Your second question assumes that some are at a disadvantage, but how do you know that? You do not have the knowledge of God to make that judgement. In fact, we know that the character of God is entirely good and just; he is holy and pure. No one is going to get ripped off, we are judged fairly (which means we must be judged with circumstance in mind). In addition, there is a partial list of people in the Bible who will be in heaven even though they never heard the name Jesus while they were on earth such as Abraham. Genesis 15:6-7 "And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith". However, we also read that even Abraham would not be in heaven if not for Jesus Christ. I highly recommend you read Genesis and the Gospel of John, followed by Romans. Seek earnestly and pray because Jesus is alive, and he loves you.

@@especedelapin There is nothing spontaneous about loving someone. It's easy to love those who love you back but the point is: are we able to love those who do us wrong? Are we able to love the cheating wife or husband? Are you going to love your spouse when a year after you marry them they get sick with cancer and you are going to have to look after them 24/7 till death part you? Are we able to love the colleague who is bent over to take your place at work and gossip at your back? Are we willing to love those who despise you because you look poor, sound stupid, are slow, etc.? And what about those who steal from you? We love God by devoting to Him our obedience under all circumstances especially those that impose on us a toll. Yes, true love is sacrificial for the sake of others who may or may not deserve it, this is love to God and not the wishy-washy nonsense of Movies where everything goes hunky-dory happily ever after. Innocent, nailed to a cross in agony He prayed for a bunch of hateful, detestable lying hypocrites that they may be forgiven. Can we do that? Can we truly love like that? This is my last reply to you, I wish you the best of luck. If you let God enter your life, He will love you in a way you have never known and you have never believed could be possible such as it is impossible to a human being.
@davidespano8674
@davidespano8674 Ай бұрын
True love is never "spontaneous", true love is sacrificial. Anyone ought to love those who love them back, but... Are we going to love and honour our parents and brothers even when they are set against us? Are we going to be able to love and forgive our spouses when they cheat on us? Are we going to stand by our wife or husband when, after just a few years of marital happiness, they get sick with some serious disease and suck out all the fun from our life and leave us bound to look after them till death part us? Are we going to love and forgive our colleagues when they are bent over taking over our job by sniding and gossiping about us? Are we going to be able to forgive the invader who detained us, evicted and displaced us for no reason? Are we going to forgive when the strong win in a court of law, despite being in the wrong, just because they are wealthier than us? Are we going to forgive and love those who mock and despise us because we are ugly, poor, slow, black, etc.? Are we going to forgive those who have made us their slaves and taken away our freedom? Terribly flogged, nailed to a cross, in agony for no fault on His part, He prayed that we may be forgiven: us cruel, merciless, lying, thieving, self-righteous, boastful, envious, ungenuine, deceiving, full of vanity little hypocrites! This is true love and it ain't ever easy, it has nothing to do with the wishy-washy, skin-deep love of movies and it is not natural, it is supernatural and comes from God only. This is my last reply to you, that you might consider this matter further within yourself. I wish you all the best

1) Sadly, religious people still get divorced very frequently. 2) Most religions accept divorce, with the exception of Catholicism. 3) I still get your point of view. As a Catholic, my marriage cannot be dissolved. In this sense, all other forms of marriage (civil, muslim, protestant) are less of a commitment than mine. They say "till death do us part" too but their marriages are often easy to dissolve. This, of course, does not mean that Catholics have perfect or the 'best' marriages, but we nevertheless have something unique (and Biblical).

A very deep and moving discussion, David. When I was 13, I knew I had become an atheist. After coming up with the answer to one of life's biggest questions (Does God exist?), I thought I knew it all. Boy, was I wrong! (Teenagers! I'm sure glad I outgrew being one.) When I was 15, God made Himself very real to me after I heard a sermon. It was time for me to give up, and let Jesus forgive me for all my sins, even the sin of unbelief. What a day, 44 years ago this upcoming Oct. 19. I've been a new man ever since, by the grace of God!

Something I use to explain what eternal life could look like to non-believers, is that in essence the fantasy race 'elves' are immortal and that humans aren't. And in a lot of stories where elves are involved, humans are portrayed as greedy and power-hungry, because they don't have a lot of time. Whilst elves are more concerned for the long run and care little about gaining power. In the same way, because we Christians believe we have received eternal life, we can look forward to things way in the future whilst others try to prove themselves and desperately find meaning in all they do.

@johantitulaer1052
@johantitulaer1052 Ай бұрын
@@AndiWard I understand your point. But procreation will end at a certain point as well, for example when your offspring won't have any children anymore. And your advice or words taught to others will be forgotten in enough time. So in that sense there is no true immortality in just this earth. To answer what I would look forward to in a billion years, how could I possibly know that? I think the better approach is the fact that in Heaven, in which I believe, there is no suffering nor sadness nor pain nor regret. So imagine the life as it is right now, but just way better, without all the suffering. Anyone would want to live forever. And for me personally I would love to meet Jesus face to face and learn more from Him every single day and learn more about Heaven. I don't think even in eternity you could ever understand all of who God is, not even in a billion years.

I like how the existence of grief implies it is unnatural, that something's wrong or isn't how it's supposed to be. It's as if sadness and death weren't meant to be, but by sinning we screwed with nature. We did wrong when all of what God does and touches is right, thus making nature become unnatural in the worst way possible, making the nature God had made as it should be to be tainted by the consequences of sin. That's not to say God was caught off guard or was surprised by our betrayal, but that sin isn't natural as it wasn't made by God, so with something unnatural like sin mixing with the nature of God in what He made, it was as if purple was mixed with yellow.

How can sin not be created by God if he's the creator of everything that exists? Sin is a departure from perfection, which in a way is humanity itself. We try to find God to get back to the perfection that once existed.
@leadhesh
@leadhesh Ай бұрын
@@TheSeth256 everything God creates is perfect because He is perfect. Like you said everything was perfect including humanity, humanity isn't imperfect by design, it's imperfect now by curse. God defined sin, but he isn't the author of sin. Sin is just defined as transgressing God's law. God created the law, or the law is eternal like God, either way, sin is only implied as a possibility because of the existence of the law. It takes a being with free will, created perfect, and yet choosing to rebel by putting themselves inordinately higher than their Creator to manifest sin by sinning. There is no sin in God. God is the only thing that existed before the universe. The universe was created without sin. Sin entered through Satan and Adam and Eve and God cursed His creation as a result.

@@TheSeth256 As @leadhesh said, everything God makes is perfect. In Genesis, for each thing He made, He found it good. Why would He call sin good? The apple granted the knowledge of Good and evil, and evil was only possible through disobeying God. Freewill isn't evil or bad or sinful, but what you choose to do with it can lead to evil and bad and sin. He loves us so much that even though He knew we would sin, He still gave us freewill to choose. How could something that can't choose to love or praise give love and praise in the first place? The creation of freewill was a gift and didn't cause sin, we did through His gift, but He still loves us and has given us a free gift to be with Him through His own Son's blood. He wants us to be with Him, but by choice. Even if that means the possibility of us choosing evil over Him. (Sorry for the wall of text)
