It may sound like an impossible mission for some, but actually, it's not that complicated at all.
Adjusting your carburetor on your Moster can be done in a few easy steps, which we will show you in this very video. All you need is a small screwdriver and patience.
First, you need to be sure your carburetor is in good working condition, so if you know you didn't check it or cleaned it for more than one year, then a membrane replacement will be necessary. We have a very good video about that as well, check it out: • Vittorazi Moster Plus ...
Now that your carburetor is cleaned and membranes are ok, you can start tuning it from scratch.
The factory settings for the Low-speed needle are 1/4 to 1/3 of a turn out from fully closed. Pay attention when you close it all the way in, just make it snug, as if you tighten it too much you can damage the seat of the needle inside the carb body.
Then, just adding throttle abruptly while having your paramotor secured on your back, and watch the engine response. Close the Low-speed needle by 1-2 minutes at a time until it will start hesitating when pinching the throttle. Then, go 1-2 minutes back and you are done. As simple as that.
Once your Low-speed needle is adjusted, it's time to set the idle RPM screw and your engine will be happy 100%.

6:30 another indication that your needle is too lean is once you start it, the RPMs from idle start to creep up by 100-300 RPM. You can hear the motor idle at 6:30 and then slowly creep up a bit, even before the throttle is touched. This is another great indicator that you've leaned out your low needle just a bit too much and you need to open it up just a minute or two. This is a great video on carb tuning!

I have to say having my engine fine tuned by Stefan in Iceland was the best. Starts on second pull, no harsh knocking and smooth linear throttle. Takes a bit of practice but it’s a delight when done right. Plus you get that sweet feeling of security knowing that your engine won’t die down on you over that glacier or river. Thanks Miro and Stefan fir another great video. 🙏🏻

Did you mention that the engine has to be hot before adjusting. If you try to adjust a cold engine it will run too rich when its hot. A perfectly tuned engine will bog a little down low when cold.

Thank you so much, Miroslav for this fantastic video (and the others in this series)! It's a joy to tune my Moster 185 since I have watched it. I guess, it is a regular task to fine-tune the carburetor at changing (at this time: cooling) temperature. Is it true?

Help! Very good vids thanks. So my question, I have atom 80. My seller put in a recall piece in carb and since then it runs horrible, it stops for no reason. I took it back to him, we retuned the carb like in your vid. Air/gas ratio. My issue is the idle, it turns so slow, 1600-1700 should be 1800-2000 rpm. All I need to do is adjust the idle pin, but it’s to its max, it won’t screw more. What can I do. Seems that recall piece messed up my atom 80. It worked so great before. Only one season, 25 hours. Thanks

Worth noting: if you find yourself in the need of readjusting the carb before every flight, check your popoff pressure - if it's too low, your carb will be super-sensitive to weather conditions

One thing you should add as a caption: don't use any significant force when closing the L screw all the way in, or otherwise you'll damage the carb seat and this will be irrepairable

Hey Guys! Question.... It seems the fuel line is getting air bubbles in it post fuel bulb. Is this normal? It is a brand-new unit and I had them send out a new one however the problem still exists with the replacement. Another question... Should the engine sort of surge up around 5500-6000rpm? Almost like you've hit boost as if it were turbocharged? It's quite abrupt and makes me think something is up. Have followed the tuning procedure many times and cannot get this issue to go away. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure those aren’t minute marks. That’s just a 3/8” flat head socket that happens to have knurls in a manner similar to how minutes would be set up. The knurls are more for grip but it definitely helps visualization as it has to be close 👍

Can yo please be more clear on the amount to open the idle neddle from scratch? You say that from a totaly closed position you counterclockwise 20 minutes. But I have read in the manual 1/4 and I thought that means one complette turn plus 1/4. So, can you please show us the exact amount to open feom scratch? I understand that 20minutes is almost the half of 1 complette turn. Is that the correct interpretation?

If I were to do this procedure, my Moster 185 would become impossible to start after 4-5 starts, after it becomes warm. What would cause it to be so difficult to start when warm?
@SCOUTaviation
@SCOUTaviation 11 ай бұрын
This pro0cedure should be done on a warm engine. Your case is really unusual. Usually it is a lot easier to start an engine warm. I do not have an advice for you now. I wish I could try the engine myself

@@SCOUTaviation Thanks. I have the MY20 Atom 80 but the Maverick manual says different settings compared to the Moster (Low screw 22 minutes and High screw 60 minutes). I'm mainly asking can you use this method of leaning out until blipping is not responsive on any engine like an Atom 80 or Top 80? And do you prefer this method compared to checking the plug colour?
@SCOUTaviation
@SCOUTaviation Жыл бұрын
@@turkeyphant yes you are correct. I thought you are referring to the low needle as it is the same for Moster and Atom. Moster manual says 15-20 minutes. Atom says 22. The procedure for tuning low needle would be the same for both engines but i do not have that much experience with Atom 80 low needle tuning. Simply because I never had the need to tune the Atom 80. It was always running perfect. The Moster I tune more often. The spark plug color should be checked after a minute or two of full power and that is mostly affected by high needle. Summary: I adjust the low needle by idling behaviour and I adjust the high needle by max RPM and spark plug color. There is a difference in high needle. Moster 69-75 minutes, Atom 60 minutes. Sealed.
