In this video I scrap an air compressor for copper, brass and aluminum.
I increased the value from $4 as is to $20 by scrapping the entire thing.

Coincidentally, I have 2 of them in my pile. One was only missing the quick connect at the tank and seems to be perfectly functional. I'm going to look up exploding air compressor now..... The second one, I still haven't plugged in yet but if there's 3lbs of copper in em, shoot...... Both are smaller ones though. A little pancake and a lil 2 gal with tanks like the one in this video had. Getting a nice pile of copper motors building up as well and a couple more might be just as good

Oh, so the initial cost of the air compressor, in this case, is $0. I wondered because I’m going to thrift stores with my grandson hoping to find things for him to take apart. Otherwise he and his tool set starts taking things apart that he’s not supposed to. One morning I was out of the room for about 10 minutes. I thought he was too quiet he had taken the cable router apart. Luckily it was one that wasn’t working. He’s really very curious and extremely smart. 2 wonderful traits. I guess I just really need to find free stuff. Have a blessed day.

@@jwall6006 He sounds like a really neat child. Garbage sales or even thrift stores can be a place to find really cheap stuff that can be worth scrapping even if you have to pay a little money, especially if it’s just providing stuff for him to take apart. Thank you and you too have a blessed day.

I've gotten these things before, is there any worry that the tank is pressurized, that is full of air? I don't want to mess with that, typically I just want the electric motor. But I end up tossing the entire thing into tin shred, cuz I'm worried some prankster juiced it full of pressurized air, and I don't want it to pop, or anything while I'm trying to get the motor.

One of the brass pieces I removed, the one that had a steel ring on it, that’s a pressure release valve, you just pull on it and it’ll drain all the air or you can open both petcocks, that’ll drain the air as well. Just look at the pressure gauge and it’ll tell you how many psi of air is in the tanks.

The bottom of the tanks should also have a drain plug allowing for the air and any moisture to drain out! ♻️👍🏻

You report to us in US pounds and ounces, which is great. But does your scrap yard pay for fractions of a pound? For example my yard reports on the reciept my metals weight in pounds, and no fractions. And they calculate my payment using whole pounds. So I am thinking that I should weigh my copper and brass before hand, and turn in just over whole pound amounts so I am not giving away the fractional weight.

The yard I sell brass and copper to they weigh in pounds and ounces but for everything else, they’ll either round up or down. I would suggest you weigh your copper and brass before selling it, that way you’ll know what you have. Each scrap yard sort of does things their own way, so try to get to know yours and don’t hesitate to ask them questions. Thank you for watching!

good vid ,i have 3 of those to tear down,, but you used a Cresent wrench on the tear down ???? !!!!!!!!!OOOOOOOH OOOOOOH OOH OOH OOOOOOOOOH OOOOOOOOOH !!!!!!!!!so for that you get this weeks Sam Kinison award....come on i know you have combination wrenches to use instead, and i would get some flare wrenches too, not expensive, and also some thin carburetor wrenches to removing that muffler..my cresent wrenches all have dust on them..dont buy wrenches from India, weak metal and no heat treat..
