The Modpack has a "block" that has a sphere collision, would've been perfect for the ends. It's a full block diameter so it'd put everything where it needs to be. MIGHT have to make the whole slider out of them but best solution I can think of.

Would the reduced resistance of a gas engine work?
@crayder1100
@crayder1100 2 жыл бұрын
@@loganroman5306 I do agree with your thought process, and it probably would glitch out less, but I think the bigger issue is the frame-by-frame physics calculations. There's a frame where the blocks leak into other blocks a little more than it should, and in the next frame those blocks are inside each other. The SM physics engine does a lot to correct this already but yada yada.

Something tells me the sticking was probably made worse by the engine being on the end of the arm. The weight being so far from center caused more stress on the sliders and forced them out of the rails

AVE Mizar in TM. "the AVE Mizar is a flying car that actually took to the skies. But rather than designing it from the ground-up, the creators of the Mizar just made a mashup of a Ford Pinto and a Cessna Skymaster. Unfortunately, instead of being the next step on the road to the future, the Mizar ended up filling the next page in an air crash investigator's notebook. The concept was for a modified Ford Pinto to drive to the airport, bolt on a set of wings and an engine, and take off. By using the car's engine as well as the propeller, it was capable of remarkably short take-off runs. Plus, by using all four wheels for braking, it needed less than 550 feet of runway to stop after landing, which is pretty remarkable. Unfortunately, despite claims to the contrary, the Skymaster-from which the wings and engine were taken-was never rated to carry the weight of a Pinto, let alone passengers and fuel. Add to that a poor structural design, bad welds (according to the National Transportation Safety Board), and an inexperienced pilot, and you get a tragic accident that kills the vehicle's creator-and the project along with him." -From your loyal subscriber, AspieSpark

I think problem was bearings, as they are powered but expected to turn on different speeds in relation of position(since its elipse, not circle). Red block movement adds or remove speed of bearing, but since bearing is moving at constant speed, it gets stuck eventually.

Really really interesting video, cool to see the time and effort you put into researching and sharing what you found ! And your machine works very well considering the physics of scrap mechanic It might be possible to make an even faster version of it by putting the moving yellow beam in between the two rails. With that setup you can make the rails without cutting them in the middle because they don't cross each other. With that you don't run into this problem where too many blocs are in contact. But what you've done works perfectly, so there's no real need for improvement

If you put the smaller ellipse inside the bigger one, there should always be the same distance from the inner elipse-edge to the out ellipse edge. Also, if you put a "handle" on the other side of the yellow bar, you can draw an ellipse exactly 90° turned from the previous ellipse. Because of that, it makes sense that there is a point where it draws a circle. The closer you put the "pen" towards the connecting pipes but still outside, the more and more the ellipse becomes a straight line. If you put the pen exactly at the point it is connected to a slider, it will just draw a line back and fourth. Now if you move the point of the pen towards the other connection-pipen of the other slide, the "outer points" of the drawing will shift to become the line 90° rotated from the first line of the first slider, and furthermore create the 90° rotated ellipse. So if you put the pen exactly between both connection-points of the slider, you will logically have a circle. Which is mathematically pretty awesome.
