Hello everyone! Today we continue with my "Scrapping for Copper Series with Episode 2." We kick off today's video by scrapping out an RCA stereo receiver. How much copper is inside?
Once the receiver is all scrapped out, I melt down the copper in my Devil-Forge furnace. Once melted, I pour the liquid copper into a graphite mold and cast a copper bar. After the bar is all cleaned up, I weigh it up and stick it on the table with the rest of my ingots. I want to see how much copper is on the pallet worth of stuff if I systematically scrap everything out. This is a fun series and hopefully you think so too!
If you're new to my channel and want to see series 1 and 2 (formerly known as The Blue Pallet Series) Links are listed below.

Awesome brother! I’m not sure if the newer receivers have copper windings on the transformers but the old ones sure do. Words of advice, look up the make and model before you decide to scrap them out. Some are worth a good bit of money even as parts units 🙂👊🏼🍻

Great video brother. Love seeing stuff scrapped out. The copper bar looks amazing. Nice and chunky. Great job 👍 I was cleaning a bunch of stuff out of my garage and taking it to my scrap pile today. I picked up a vhs player and the dang thing was really heave. Must have a big transformer in it like that. So it might be just like that one. I don’t think I have seen one like that before. Will be fun to scrap out.

Thanks brother! I love scrapping things out lol. As far as the VHS player, there may be something in it but mote than likely the chassis is a thick gauge of steel. I scrapped one out a few months back and there was literally nothing inside it 🤣

Good Video Bro!!! Great way to eliminate stuff we no longer use...lol I haven't seen a Home receiver in years. It would most likely be on my bookshelf waiting to see if it worked...lol Today or tomorrow I am working on getting the Oil burner up and running. I'll let you know how it goes... 🙂

Thanks brother!!! You’re definitely correct in regards to getting rid of obsolete items the scrappers way 🤣 That RCA receiver was definitely obsolete by today’s standards (no HDMI connections). I’m happy to have the copper in brick form lol. Oooo call me when it’s up and running! Thanks for watching brother! 🙂👊🏼

Honestly more copper in it than I expected for an early 2000’s model receiver, I figured maybe a half pound at most.

Brother that’s my goto tool like 90% of the time. Who needs a pry-bar when a perfectly good long screwdriver does the same thing and feels more comfortable to use. I definitely snapped the tip off before and reshaped it better than original 🤣. Thanks for watching brother! 😁👊🏼🍻

Hey S2C! You had a good day, eh? Winning at the slot machine, a very nice poured bar (you get better and better!) and a good amount of copper. i liked the video, is it maybe possible to show the scrapping part a little tiny bit slower? if not, ok because it is just my opinion / favorite part of the videos, and im not the only one subscriber (for god's sake tha would be ugly 😅). so have a nice week, see you in the next video for sure!!!
@Scrap2Cast

Hey brother thanks a bunch! The slot machine was generous instead of the greedy jerk that it can be hahaha. In regards to the scrapping, a lot of people lose interest really quickly based on videos I did when the channel first started. When that happens, KZfaq thinks it is a bad video and wont push the videos to potential new viewers. Which in turn will slow down the growth of the channel. As it is, only about 30-45% of my content gets watched while the rest is fast forwarded to the end result and the weigh-in’s. I will however take what you suggested into consideration, after all you are a sub and subs are what makes this channel possible. Thanks for the positive feedback brother and have a great week as well! 😁👊🏼🍻

I realize you are scrapping but you could get a lot more for that transformer, if it is OK, than the scrap value. I'm not complaining just sayin'. Great video!
@Scrap2Cast
@Scrap2Cast Жыл бұрын
Brother you are absolutely correct. The transformer is worth more reselling than scrapping and that goes the same for any working item. Scrap is the lowest value of anything and you definitely touched on a subject that quite honestly never crossed my mind to mention on the channel. Heck, melting it down when you factor in the other costs is even lower than scrap value 🤣. But the end game is I will potentially have a huge pile of copper that can actually change my life once I get enough of it 😉. I think about it this way, I could just cash my stuff in for maybe an extra $20-$30 per week and piss that money away on dumb stuff (take out food, gasoline, tobacco etc.) or hang onto it and maybe sell it all off for that huge payday where I could put a nice downpayment on a newer truck or maybe a small piece of property in the midwest somewhere 🙂. Thanks for watching brother! 👊🏼🍻

@Scrap2Cast
@Scrap2Cast Жыл бұрын
Oh it’s up there brother! As ingots, they are worth more than scrap copper, so it really is hard to tell. Ingots like the ones on my table can be easily sold on ebay to other metal casters for their projects. There definitely is a hefty premium. As for the scrap value of the copper alone. There’s about $750 sitting there if I was to cash them in at a scrapyard as-is. Thanks for watching brother!

@@Scrap2Cast Wow that is worth it!
@Scrap2Cast
@Scrap2Cast Жыл бұрын
@@cdfloresnunez don’t get me wrong but if you are a scrapper just looking for quick money, taking your stuff straight to the scrapyard is your best bet. Casting supplies and equipment does get expensive as well as the cost of propane, but its a lot easier to store by melting it down and it looks nicer 😁. My goal is to get 1000lbs before I sell it. A nice $3500 payday definitely helps for a down payment on a truck or van for scrapping. 🙂👊🏼🍻
