Randy (Jamie Kennedy) breaks down the do's and don'ts of surviving a horror movie to his less than interested audience.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Scream is at once a slasher film and a tongue-in-cheek position paper on the "dead teenagers" movies of the late 1970s/early 1980s that plays as half-parody, half-tribute. Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is having a rough time lately: she's still getting over the brutal rape and murder of her mother a year ago, and now one of her friends (Drew Barrymore) has been killed by a lunatic who harassed her with terrifying phone calls, then stabbed her to death while wearing a Halloween costume. Soon Sydney is receiving similar phone calls, quizzing her on the arcane details of such films as Friday the 13th and Prom Night, and is attacked by the same cloaked maniac. With her father missing, she has hardly anyone on her side except her best friend Tatum (Rose McGowan) and Tatum's brother Dewey (David Arquette), a half-bright cop. As for the murderer, it could be any number of people: Syd's father; her cute but overly intense boyfriend Billy (Skeet Ullrich); Tatum's goofball boyfriend Stuart (Matthew Lillard); or Randy (Jamie Kennedy), who works at the local video store and seems to like horror movies just a little too much. Much like Halloween, Scream spawned a series of sequels and inspired a large number of similar films -- its original working title, Scary Movie, became the title of the 2000 parody film by Damon Wayans.

I didn’t notice it until literally my millionth time watching this movie but Tatum was already dead in the garage and Stu said he was going for a beer....he would have seen her body and would have been shocked if he wasn’t the killer. This was a clue that he was one of the killers! I can’t believe I didn’t notice that before! *facepalm*

If you watch Stu from 0:10 to 0:22 you can tell he is a killer. He flares his nostrils after the murder on tv and is staring at it intensely while making a fist as if to cheer it on. Then after he looks around and sees he is the only one reacting this way he quickly changes his body language

For the people commenting "no it didn't" You are not wrong, Nither dose he, "Randy's Rules" called out loud the classic horror movie clichès! IN A CLASSIC HORROR MOVIE! That scene left a huge impact on the classic slashers horror films that came after the original scream. They teach this at film schools nowdays. "Randy's rules" indeed change the game in many aspects.

It broke the rules, too. They made Gail say "Be right back" to Kenny in post-production. Courtney really said "Keep watching". Sid has sex. All the others drink (and some start rolling a joint in the background, right before Dewey and Gail enters the party). This is one of the most defining things about Scream, imo. That, and Kevin's great screenplay, and Wes' earthly, epic direction. Rest in peace, Wes Craven.

At 01:33 One of the hints that Stu is killer is when Randy tells him: "I'll see you in the kitchen with a knife". - and later on Stu, Billy and Sid end up in kitchen where they stab each other hoping to frame Sid's dad. Great movie, man. Well written, acted and directed. They dont make 'em like this anymore. 10/10

At 0:51 when Randy pauses the movie and steps up in front of it, he pauses it in a way where Michael Myers' knife is pointed toward him signifying that Michael is the predator and Randy is the prey. When Stu leaves he commits a dying sin which prompts Randy to say "I'll see you in the kitchen with a knife." The scene in Halloween that they're paused on is the scene in which Michael Myers kills that young man in the kitchen with a knife. We're literally told who Ghostface is in this scene because later in the movie when it's shown that Stu is Ghostface he has a knife with him and almost kills Sydney.

Honestly seeing Randy makes me sad, I miss him so much! Also in Scream 3 there was an alternate ending that breaks my heart. There was a fourth rule for a trilogy, 'Never Be Alone' the reason it was cut is because Gale split off from the group after Randy said that on his tape.

@@BarthvaderHalloween it’s only rated r bc of graphic horror violence, “gore” and language no nudity or anything lol she’s completely fine. She doesn’t watch the whole movie, she just watches bits and pieces and comes in at this part. She’s now 7 and still loves it

Rule number 4. Do not say let's split up. Rule 5. Do not feel the need to investigate a noise or something that catches ur eye. Rule 6. Always have a way out. Rule 7. Don't be black cuz let's be real here...ur odds are lower. Rule 8. There is no rule against arming yourself. So pack some heat, a lot of it. Rule 9. If you somehow down the killer/monster do not take ur eyes off of it cuz chances are they will teleport from view. Just keep shooting.

The true rules of surviving a slasher:1. Don't have Sex 2. Don't drink or do Drugs 3. Don't ever say 'I'll be right back'. 4. Have parents who care about you and won't let you go out when there's a killer on the loose. 5. Stop dating guys/girls who are total assholes/bitches. 6. If you are being attacked near a place full of people who are your friends, SCREAM FOR HELP!!! 7. Do more than run. Fight back! Kick the killer in the throat or in the balls! 8. Don't live in or visit a town where the cops and reporters are terrible at their jobs. 9. Call 911. It's there for a reason. (Rules from 'Scream' and 'How it Should Have Ended) I mean seriously. The victims of these movies are so stupid it's no wonder we cheer for the killers like Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, ect. ect.
