If they put the money and effort that they're putting into rebooting old movies into making new, original ones instead, they could make the next indiana jones or the next star wars. Instead of just rehashing classics to get money, put the same effort into making the next classic.

About the idea of Tom Hiddleston as the Beast in "Beauty and the Beast": I agree. I think Tom is an amazingly strong actor and could pull off the roles of both the prince and the Beast very well. But I do also think that modern Hollywood wouldn't do the makeup for the Beast justice because they want to keep the sex appeal. Every time Hollywood tries to do a story with a "disfigured" character, the character looks like they have just a little boo-boo on their face. Or a sunburn (I'm looking at you, Gerard Butler in "The Phantom of the Opera").
@IreneShardaForever
@IreneShardaForever 9 жыл бұрын
Oh they'll do the animalistic Beast just like in the animated movie. This is one of Disney's crown jewels, they need kids and little girls to identify the live action movie with that of their original classic. They won't allow any upstart writer or director to mess this up. They won't do anyone who looks human, but more as an animal. They'll probably do a mixture CGI and motion capture.

I would love to see Tom as The Prince, and Ron Perlman as The Beast
@IreneShardaForever
@IreneShardaForever 9 жыл бұрын
Aldo Ruiz I don't know, I think that' a copout like they said to do two different actors. The importance of the story has always been that this handsome prince was a beast on the inside and therefore got turned into a beast on the outside, and that he had to learn how to love and be loved before he was able to turn back to his original form. I think that they need to be the same person, the prince and the beast. In fact, the fact that they shared the same eyes was how Belle recognized him when he transformed at the end. And I'm sorry, but Perlman is just too old and a pretty well known character actor, It would be way too obvious that he and Tom wouldn't be the same person.
@TheaterRaven
@TheaterRaven 9 жыл бұрын
Nothing against CGI or motion capture, but I think it'd be really cool if they did more practical effects for the Beast's makeup. When you look at the sorts of things people like Lon Chaney and Jack Pierce were able to do with makeup, it makes the use of CGI and motion capture seem lazy. Not that there isn't artistry involved in those two techniques, either, but I'd like to see Hollywood go back to its roots, especially since this particular story is based on a fairytale. An "old school" classic look for the film would be great.
@TheaterRaven
@TheaterRaven 9 жыл бұрын
***** Or maybe even change the love between Belle and the Beast. I agree that if he stayed a Beast but had his good heart inside at the end, it'd be more meaningful, but if Belle remained a girl . . . well, it could bring up some interesting issues after the wedding, shall we say. But maybe they could also change the love between Belle and the Beast. The spell says he has to "love and be loved in return" in order for him to change back. It never says it had to be romantic love. Maybe they love each other as friends or siblings.

No Indy reboot. Ford IS Indy, period. A change in tone would arise, and Indy just worked as he was. Also, Chris Pratt specifically as Indy? Rly? Indy is not a jokey guy; he's a very old-school everyman, yet driven, focused, and obsessive. Chris Pratt? *Stupidest. Idea. Ever.*

According to "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles," Indy is quite alive in his nineties. I had the idea of him going on an expedition to find the Fountain of Youth, is mortally wounded, and the healing waters restore him to a younger form. A reboot without going mystical would be a mistake.

Raymond Doetjes I dabbled in attempting to string a timeline together ages ago, but I used to read the "Young Indiana Jones" books and I THINK it was during his adventure in Greece--can't remember title--it would be possible to have him meet up with an older Sherlock Holmes. Or at least around that time, not necessarily that particular adventure, but I think that's part of why it would work. It's been too long since I looked into it. I agree that Nazis should be included whatever the adventure.

Dark Knight was well done, but it was not the first to "go dark" by a long shot. What it did do, I would argue, is take some of the "shine" out of dark comic movies. Where previous movies used a lot of purple and blue and green, or high contrast, dark night is all red and black. It manages to be visible while still maintaining a dark earth tones color palate, with only enough contrast to still be viewed. The new costume, gadgets, and even manor are all flat finished straight black demarcating it as clearly separate from the shine finished villains we know so well and the goth movement.

'A group called the Fantastic Four can not be taken seriously.' INCORRECT. I don't read superhero comics because they're light-hearted fare. When I want that I'll read an Archie. They may be escapism, but the MCU is full of pain, heartbreak, struggle, love, loss, laughter, and very human situations. The human condition may be funny in it's absurdity and tragedy, and joyful in it's moments, but it's by no means light-hearted; the MCU should be the same.

i am a guy from india and just finished a discussion on how big america considers their super bowl when they are the only ones who give a damn about it.. and as soon as andy said you're watching youtube and not watching super bowl... "common andy, you're not local anymore, think global... nobody outside of US/Canada makes such a big deal out of it... dont keep making references to it as if its the biggest sporting event on earth and do the same mistakes as many others (yes i'm talking to you @MegaFoxboy, who went full on assault for another guy asking what super bowl is)"
@Theinen84
@Theinen84 9 жыл бұрын
I don't care about the Super Bowl either, but it *is* a big game in America and a big deal to a lot of people. To get it straight, *America* doesn't think it's big or a really big deal, America football fans do. Just like a fan of *anything* thinks it's a pretty big deal, you know, like these guys arguing about movies and the people here watching the video about them arguing about movies and making comments. If you want to call them out for constantly talking about it, that's on you. I mean I think that's also kinda stupid since people only really talk about it, other than among friends or places where you go to talk about sports, one day of the entire year. That's the day of. Tomorrow, it'll be about the half time show or the commercials. So... meh... people talking about it isn't even that big of a deal. My issue comes from people like you who see one or two examples of something and just try to lump an entire country into that example and speak of the entire country in a somewhat negative light because of it. Not even all of America cares about the Super Bowl, hence him saying it. So, once again, America doesn't consider Super Bowl a big thing. American football fans do I didn't even know it *was* today until this video.
@williambrown873
@williambrown873 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they can. May not be a big deal worldwide, but for the US it's essentially a national holiday.
@ShreyasYD
@ShreyasYD 9 жыл бұрын
Theinen84 ummm ya its a big event in USA thats what i said in my comment, THINK GLOBAL, and what you are calling out to is only big to usa and for someone outside it makes you look like selfish, which i assume the entire country is not, i mean i want ppl exactly like you to be taken into consideration, assuming that you are not such a fanatic of the american football game, that you want to show everyone you meet ever on a super bowl weekend that you are a fan of the game, i mean ya in india cricket is a VERY big deal, but i would not like every guy in india talk about IPL("super bowl"ish kind for cricket) when its running... THINK GLOBAL meant, that please stop making references to things only a few ppl find interesting... i am completely on board with your view that super bowl isnt such a big deal to EVERYONE, and what i meant to say was that, these many references everywhere (here everywehre only means media, yes youtube is media no less than cable or cinema now) to something even your own country doesnt follow to a complete 100% of the population. for the guy who said 111 million out 320 million ppl is a big deal,i say that 111 million out of nearly 7 billion ppl on earth,is a small deal. and i want big channels like screen junkies need to look beyond the 320 million ppl and look to the 7 billion ppl, granted not all of them use the net, but i hope you get what i am trying to say.
@ShreyasYD
@ShreyasYD 9 жыл бұрын
Theinen84 in smaller words what i am trying to say is, since ppl like andy from screen junkies are such a big deal now, and in some way represent america as a whole, dont make such a big deal out super bowl and make it look like the entire country is crazily head over heals over one game which anyone outside of your country have no clue of, and inturn make yourself look selfish, i mean I KNOW YOU ARE NOT SELFISH AND I DONT WANT THE USA TO LOOK LIKE ONE.
@Theinen84
@Theinen84 9 жыл бұрын
Shreyas Y D That's just small minded thinking. Don't you tell people about some awesome movie you've seen that they haven't? Or about a movie you thought would suck but didn't? You're just making a big deal out of nothing. Andy doesn't represent anyone. He doesn't even represent Screen Junkies, let alone a country. Maybe Andy himself is a football fan and was glad everyone agreed to record that ahead of time so he could watch the game. The point is, he didn't make a big deal out of it. He mentioned it a few times. *You're* making a big deal out of it like you're just looking for something to fight and it's just making you look bad. What if I generalized all of India as not wanting people to voice their opinions or interests because you don't want Andy to mention a football game on the day of the game. Btw, seeing as you know what Super Bowl is, you've even defeated your original point.

It happened last week and almost this week - Roger made the weakest arguments the whole hour (except Beauty and the Beast fight) and the suddenly he is winning? Thankfully, Alicia somehow made it. Make 7 proper rounds, then 3 quick-rounds with one, fast question so you have total of 10 rounds and the you can add one proper round as tie-breaker. I agree that it's interesting to watch somebody winning when he was loosing the whole time - but in sports, games, movies and series - not in a discussion like this.

Round 5 was such an easy answer! Chris Hemsworth!!! I mean the man talks like he is from that time (we already associate him with old time movies), can be charming and a great prince, has the long hair and same look as the prince in the original animated movie, and is not too old!! PLUS, the man IS a beast too!! I mean, damn, it doesn't get any better than him.

There should be an Indiana Jones movie called: Indiana Jones and mysteries of paleontology... In this movie, Jones (played by Chris Pratt) is looking for a book that can supposedly reveal the secrets of bringing extinct life back to life in an island a few hundred miles off the coast of Costa Rica. In that same island, there is a man named John Hammond who just graduated from a university and wants to see if there are any ideas about what should he when wanting to make a park full of living things from millions of years ago. When they both bump into each other, Indy has already found the book and Hammond found a few fossils for an Idea. After their greeting, Hammond learns about the book that Indy was looking for, he wanted to steal it for himself to see if he can bring back living things from millions of years ago but Indy warns him not to play God because there will be consequences...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes isn't a reboot. It's a prequel to the older movies. You wouldn't call Star Wars Episode one a reboot of Star Wars. You call it a prequel. Batman took the original batman storyline and told it again but in a new way. Batman begins should have won.

It's a prequel and a reboot. It started a new series of films which fits in with the stories of the previous ones, but it clearly is a new series unlike the Star Wars prequels which Lucas intended to be part of a longer, continous story (Anakin succumbs to evil, becomes Vader, they built the death star, well, you know how the story goes) with the films being retitled to episodes 1-6 and Lucas (controversially) even going as far to change things about the originals to make it fit. The new Planet of the apes series is quite different and Dawn.. is very similar to Battle for the planet of the apes. While it's not considered a remake, it clearly means that the reboot is (to some extent) seperate from the previous ones (why would they remake part of the story?) even if it's part of the Planet of the apes overall franchise (which is exactly what a reboot can mean)

Welp when oscars come out you can reply back and tell me how I was wrong, but I have my money on Bradley. @tomtalks23
@tomtalks23 9 жыл бұрын
ragmondead I haven't seen the film, so I can't comment. But Keaton and Redmayne have won pretty much every award under the Sun in the lead up to the Oscars. Cooper has won two critics association awards for American Sniper and that's it. He wasn't even nominated for a BAFTA, Golden Globe, SAG or Critics Choice Award for American Sniper. To not be nominated for any of the other Big 5 acting awards pulls your Oscar chances down significantly. A lot of people were shocked he even got nominated. Keaton and Redmayne on the other hand, have won two GGs, two SAGs and some 30 critics association awards between them. Most betting carriers have Cooper on 40/1 odds at the moment. His chances of winning are slim at best.

Movie Fight Rule Suggestion - I love movie fights and I prefer listening to this than my favorite Pandora station at work. That being said, the participants describe whatever they're arguing for as "iconic" way too often. There are other adjectives out there. Therefore, my suggested rule is anytime someone uses "iconic" to argue their point, they are buzzed and can't argue their point anymore for that round. Whatever they said before that is considered, but they are out for the rest of the round. One caveat, when Hal's on, his word/phrase is "game changer".

one2gaming Casino Royal and every other Bond since, lacked the foivre that James Bond movies suppose to have.I agree it would have been a great movie if it wasn't James Bond. We grew up with Roger Moore and Sean Connery and the vision of Albert Brocolli which made the rough Bond (because granted Daniel Craig is more the Bond Ian Flemming wanted him to be) likeable for everyone and made him have that typical English flair. That is gone now, I hate Bond now because I think he's a pompous arrogant, ruthless, insubordinate, selfish dick. Albert knew that no-one would fall in love with such a character and hence toned him down. And SkyFall despite looking wonderful was one of the most far fetched stupid stories I've ever heard. And Quantum of Solace was... errrmmmm errrmmmmm a piece of shit.

When it comes to super hero movies I'm really only invested in the Marvel Studios films and not just because of their track record. What interests me is a cohesive universe with stories that are so different from each other and the super hero genre as a whole then end up connecting to each other with a super hero team up and I'll probably be invested in the DC films once they kick in for that very reason. The Fox stuff is just meh to me and the Spidey stuff has gone nonsensical but I loved Raimi's stuff. There's just nothing going on in the Fant4stic film that I care about. It's just a basic gritty super hero origin movie and that doesn't do it for me. It needs to do something a lot different than what I saw in that trailer man. Ant-man is going to be a heist comedy and I dig that, never seen a super hero heist film before so what's the F4 going to be other than your run of the mill gritty super hero flick?

I agree what you said with everything apart from Fantastic Four. If Chronenbergian body horror isn't a departure from standard superhero movie tropes then I am not sure what is. With Fantastic Four being such a simple idea of a superhero team, it is hard to depart with the ideas and ground made in the first one, even if they did suck. The only reason why the tease trailer looks a bit generic is because it is a hard sell due to people just wanting it back at Marvel - Even to the point of ridiculously unwarranted rumours being circulated around by reputable sites. With such an amazing first time director who is actually a comic book fan behind it and some of the best young talent in Hollywood, it is just plain annoying that it isn't getting its day in court.
