Now that Seattle is officially fully opened up again - I decided to go around town to see what the quality of life is like now. We are one of the last major cities to re-open fully so many businesses have yet to come back yet, but when you walk around the city you can see the lively crowds and the energy of the city is back.
Along with that, we are also seeing that traffic has returned and the homeless are making their way back to the city also...I've made this video to show what the current experience is like in the city, and what you would expect to see while walking down the major areas of the city.
Hope you guys enjoy the video and it helps answer your questions whether you are planning a visit or a move to Seattle!

I got so excited when you were in Belltown lol you were right in front of our apartment building! I think you touch base pretty well when it comes to the homelessness situation. Love the videos!! Tip for people looking to move out here closer to Downtown area, research online and check out some current subreddit pages. That's what we did and it was pretty accurate. From what we've been told and also experienced, Belltown is slowly becoming a hotspot for some sketchy things (particularly 3rd/Bell St area). Its not every single day but it is consistent with some drama/drug deals/fights. We learned that very quickly our 1st week of having lived here in Belltown.

Yes totally agree - during covid last year it was so much better, but recently it’s getting problematic again on the 3rd/Bell corner :( - hopefully the city’s purchase of multiple hotels to turn into homeless shelters will help prevent this part of Belltown from turning into an issue again!

Love to see everything opening up again. I would love to hear your take on the Music venues that are in Seattle. Like showbox sodo, El corazon, ect. We are finally moved to redmond and can't wait for venues to open up again.

Yay! Welcome to the PNW - Redmond is a great area to be in! I can definitely pull something together on music venues - I'll have to see which are still open or not first ;)

Well, it has been about 9 months since this video was made----I wonder if the traffic is better post-pandemic as compared to before? I would imagine that people switched from commuting from the burbs to the city center to remote work at home. When I was last in Seattle in 2019 the traffic was monstrous.

The traffic currently has definitely ramped back up again, but I wouldn’t say it’s worse than pre-pandemic. I do find that traffic has become bad certain parts of the week/day, but before Covid it was more of the day and more of the week. Though, we haven’t reached our first summer post pandemic yet so I’ll wait to give my final response. If I had to make a guess I would say traffic will get worse as things ramp up going forward with folks returning to the office. Seattle is still seeing a positive inflow of people moving to the city so naturally traffic will get more dense.

Thx for video, it was good to see the Seattle that I remember from when I spent a whole summer there working on a project (for a large Company with a lot of "Bucks"...lol!). In terms of homeless, not looking too bad at all. I live in Downtown San Diego and "dont get me started". Even Austin had way more tents, when I was there last month, however they just reversed a law regarding tents (to disallow them), so it should be interesting to see what happens. Anyway..nice video and the food looked Soooo Good!!

Exactly the point I've been trying to make! I think many people probably have PTSD from the state Seattle was in prior to Covid, but I agree with you that to me it is pretty low-key right now. I haven't been to San Diego recently, but in early 2020 I was there and it didn't look bad either... I imagine that with the public's 180 degree switch from supporting to no longer supporting homeless presence in many PNW cities recently, these folks are moving on to new cities :/ Enjoy the sun and beach in SD! :)

The Austin Rule is so fucked. It doesn't get rid of the homeless people. It just puts them in more dangerous situations

I was there for the first time last week and thought the traffic was smooth great and also far fewer tents and homeless than I was expecting. Really only pleasant surprises.

Super glad to hear you had a pleasant experience! Yes there are definitely tents and homeless folks around still, but glad you understand the point I was trying to make - that it's not overwhelming like in the past, and more of a small visual disturbance here and there. Did you get to do all the things on your list? I know when I travel my list is always larger than the time or energy I have LOL

@@Phamever we packed in SO much in a week - downtown of course plus the markets in Fremont and Nordic museum and fishery in Ballard, gasworks, golden gardens and Kerry park, wineries, and even hiked in the Cascades! We also visited bothell and Kirkland and Bellevue to scope as potential places to live in case we cannot afford the city itself. Plus shopping and way too much eating…Anything else I missed I can make up for when I live there 😎😎😎 thanks for your content, it has been the most helpful 🙏

Belltown is great, but please do not live on 3rd ave! there's a ton of bus stops there and people tend to squat there and sell drugs and use the buses in case they need a quick get away. it's super concentrated to that 1 street, so anywhere else is fine
@Phamever
@Phamever 2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree - the city is trying to clean it up and will eventually happen once all the luxury condos finish up, but for now yes stay off 3rd Ave LOL

I heard about the Seattle freeze.. Introverts not wanting to make friends or communicate. I heard pretty much the whole city has this vibe. Truthfully is it true.
@Phamever
@Phamever 3 жыл бұрын
I personally don't have an issue making friends, but I'm pretty extroverted. I find that if you get connected in groups and put yourself out there then you'll be able to make friends - just don't expect others to do all the work to cultivate the friendship or relationship. Like any city, you're not going to mesh with everyone you meet so it does take trial and error - just don't take it personal ;)
