Hi Phamever, what areas of Seattle have the Asian communities? I know gentrification has changed many areas of the city.

Do you like living in Seattle compared to the other cities you lived at? When you walk the streets at night, do you feel safe walking by yourself?

Omg thank you so much. I'm relocating from NY and this video is by far the best video I have seen about the different areas of Seattle.

I am moving in a couple of weeks. I think I am going to only last a year or so. Primarily, due to the homelessness. I just feel uneasy and I am a guy. I visited yesterday and I only saw 5 homeless people walking all throughout downtown. However, a couple of homeless I saw within those 5 were shooting up. The weather doesn't bother me at all, the food feels very diverse and I am a dog dad in a dog friendly state.

This video has been a stroll down memory lane and reconnaissance for future trip to Seattle. I grew up there in the 50s and lived in all the neighborhoods you drive thru! Primarily Ballard Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, First Hill. I lived on Yesler Way and Boron when I was 5. So thank you so much for the tour.

I’m an electrician, so you know my salary is top middle class tier plus the wifey has a little gig Makin $50k so combined it’s nice. Two years ago i paid $1700 for a nice one bed one den, (basically two beds), 1.5 baths… so i pull in 130k and we chillin. Well the blm riots who over took the city was right by my job site i could see it next door and they (city looter criminals) shot 7 people in two weeks. Two of them black children. I moved my ass to the east side and it’s way batter for a family I’d never go back to that Seattle SHITHOLE city needles everywhere mayor “summer of love” lookin BOOTY.

I kept hearing about the infamous "Seattle Freeze", and would definitely like to know more about it (if it's true at all) since I am planning to move there for a job and now researching more about the City. I wonder how this is different from what someone might encounter in a mega-city where people just brush by one another and rush off without saying a word or paying any attention. I lived in LA for 7 years and I can say I was not able to make even one true friend during my entire period there. I would go out with someone (not necessarily a date, even just as friends), yet he/she will all of a sudden disappear from the radar and never hear from each other again. There are 19 million people surrounding you, yet I feel they are all so far away. Perhaps that's the plastic/flaky culture LA is notorious for. Is this the same as what one might encounter in Seattle (the so-called Seattle Freeze)? Or is it a different kind of coldness and hard to approach people? Would people turn you away even if you make a concerted effort to get to know them?

Hey those are some great points you’ve laid out - I have definitely experienced the same social issues in LA so I’ll definitely spend some time to think through and compare both Seattle and LA social norms and maybe do a social scene comparison video! :)

This guy has a hard on for Seattle. You keep comparing everything to California. But this isn't California. If I compared everything here to the South then all of your arguments would be null and void. Basically even objectively Seattle is expensive and tough to afford. Median housing cost 800K is more than majority of the country excluding yes of course California. But if California is the far end of the unattainable extreme then, buddy, Seattle is right there next to them on that end of the spectrum. You said you were born and raised here so that makes sense that you have a more biased attitude and kind of come off as elitist like a lot of Seattlites.
@Phamever
@Phamever Жыл бұрын
You’re coming at me with lots of negative energy, but let me help answer your concerns so you can have a more positive perspective. You call me “elitist” and “biased” - maybe if you went into learning about a person, a culture or an area without such negativity - it would be easier for you to gain more positive things from the experience! :) Currently, one of the largest populations of people moving to Seattle is…yes, California. So naturally it’s most helpful to compare Seattle & California. Additionally, I speak on California because I’ve actually lived there ;) I don’t speak on anything/anywhere that I don’t have personal experience on. Millions of people have been able to make seattle a home and love it, it’s not just bias that got them there! :) to each their own and I’m speaking from my own experience having lived and traveling to a wide variety of cities domestically and internationally!

Well, it has been about 9 months since this video was made----I wonder if the traffic is better post-pandemic as compared to before? I would imagine that people switched from commuting from the burbs to the city center to remote work at home. When I was last in Seattle in 2019 the traffic was monstrous.
@Phamever
@Phamever Жыл бұрын
The traffic currently has definitely ramped back up again, but I wouldn’t say it’s worse than pre-pandemic. I do find that traffic has become bad certain parts of the week/day, but before Covid it was more of the day and more of the week. Though, we haven’t reached our first summer post pandemic yet so I’ll wait to give my final response. If I had to make a guess I would say traffic will get worse as things ramp up going forward with folks returning to the office. Seattle is still seeing a positive inflow of people moving to the city so naturally traffic will get more dense.

I like the azalea you have outside. I would call that a balcony----or maybe if you want to be more classy, a "terrace" but definitely not a "patio". As far as I'm concerned, that is the wrong term for anything above ground. My prediction----you are going to have to move before long because your space is getting crowded already. Mark my words--after a time you'll agree. The alternative would be to start discarding things but that doesn't sound good. I think most viewers want to know how much you are paying to live there each month for this number one location. The views are exceptional.

Seattle is a very low value city. You will have to pay extra for the same quality of items. For example, a cheesecake factory meal in seattle will cost you at least 20-25% more than say Washington D.C. but the dining experience is worse.

Loved this video. My partner and I moved here a year ago. After college I officially moved in summer of 22'. We didn't face a Seattle freeze at all! Idk maybe because my bf and I are both African-American and they're not used to seeing us? Idk that's the vibe we got but soooo many ppl just wanted to talk to us, compliment our style, and give us free stuff at venues! Coming from Michigan I love it here ❤❤❤

What will be the future like in Seattle? Is it on its way to become a even more major world class city? Thinking of moving there as well For 20-30years old looking LGBT friendly and more fast paced, which area would you recommend most?
@Phamever
@Phamever Жыл бұрын
Seattle is definitely growing by the day - it is already considered a world class city, but I would say it is not quite at the level of New York, San Fran, LA - though it is on it's way to getting there in the near future. You will have everything you need here, but if you appreciate and enjoy nature then Seattle will outperform all the top cities in America by far! Seattle is definitely one of the best places for the LBGTQ+ folks - it is fast paced for sure, but you can escape that easily and still have a relaxing chill weekend away from the city anytime! For the requirements you have, I would recommend Capitol Hill, First Hill, South Lake Union, Belltown, Eastlake!

it’s a little difficult because i am 20 years old with no college experience nor much in terms of ownership, i am also not used to wages higher than $10 an hour and i’ve never lived in a city. Im wishing for good luck to find a job and a place to move to around february-march 2023
@Phamever
@Phamever Жыл бұрын
It is hard moving and overwhelming moving from a smaller city to a larger one so I recommend maybe moving to a suburb of Seattle first where wage is still high, but cost of living is lower so you don't get super overwhelmed. As you become more acclimated to life in the PNW then you can start moving closer to the city gradually!

It's one of the most inclusive cities for LGBTQ+ so the gay culture is naturally one of the best! Rainbow sidewalks everywhere and discrimination is nowhere to be seen - you will find community no matter what scene or tribe you identify with!
