@MrPnew1
@MrPnew1 10 ай бұрын
@@larryblumerjr I totally disagree. Mansplaining is defined as “the explanation of something by a man, typically to a woman, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing.” Jerry is just explaining the realistic concept of a reservation, and how the hire car company seems to have no real idea of that concept. The female customer service officer is just the representative of said company, and Jerry’s ire is directed at that hire company, not the Lady staff member. He is simply pointing out how ludicrous their business model is, well that’s the way I see it anyway.

This scene always reminds me...My wife is a salesman. She was in an accident, so insurance paid for a rental. She stipulated it had to be at least a mid-size to carry her supplies. She shows up and they have a tiny sub-compact. She says, no way. The agent says the only other car they have available is a Cadillac Coupe d'Ville. OK then, give me the Cadillac. Agent says, well I have to charge you more. OH NO, you made the mistake, not me. You should have had a mid-size like you promised. So she got the Caddy for the price of a Camry.

@@verbalkint4258 I agree with you but I think sometimes it just comes down to not having the car. Like Renter A is due to return with Car X at 12PM and Renter B has a reservation for that same class of car at 3PM. But then Renter A doesn't return it until 8PM. The agency should have enough cars in stock to cover for that but sometimes during busy times, there is a domino effect and they run out.

After 5 1/2 years in Enterprise, I can tell you that it’s set up to be booked beyond capacity and they just let their employees / managers deal with the 11-12 hour days trying their damndest to send your team all over to get vehicles, IF you can even find them near your store.. you have to get absurdly creative with your logistical coordination and overall communication on those kinds of days. I’ve sent 4 of my employees in a CARGO van to a store in the country like 45 min away, as I held the store on my own and it was pouring rain lol gotta love going in and out with your professional businesses attire, in and out of vehicles, while that’s going on. Would just pull a returned vehicle immediately into the cleaning bay, give it 5 minutes of the most intense vacuuming and wiping you’ve ever seen, then pull it back up for the next customer haha.. so many more stories.. great experience in a lot of ways, glad it’s behind me though. and here we are now.. Jerry is now 66. The same age as the old man. Imagine that.. he just said she'd have to be really vibrant to be with a 66 yr old. and he's 66. Boy, does time go by fast.

Had this convo today. Had an appointment at 12:30. By 13:30 I’m asking them “why haven’t I been seen?” “Oh I’m sorry, it’s busy today.” “Yes that’s why I made an appointment.”

Basically re-created this scene at GameStop today, when they were sold out of a game I pre-ordered. SOLD OUT. Of a PRE-ORDER. They told me to come back early next week to see if they get any more in stock. I ALREADY PAID FOR IT A MONTH AGO... 😡 I better get the protection plan for 3 bucks, cuz I am gonna beat the HELL out of this game. 😆

It amazes me every time I watch this scene when I think about how much of this I’ve incorporated into my own lingo and mannerisms. The snapping and waving while he says “anybody can just take a reservation”, god it’s awesome. So many uses for that in daily life. And his gestures when he says “the holding is the most important part of the reservation”. Another example of why this is the greatest tv show of all time, and by a wide margin.

Don't count on the 30%. I was given that line of bullshit after no less than THREE cars were provided to me with mechanical problems (including wipers that didn't work during a torrential downpour). Promises easily broken after the customer leaves the rental office.

This is the Seinfeld episode I was referring to, and it happened to me! Oh I wish I could have remembered the things he said to the agent and could have said them to the agent I was talking to. That would have been absolute perfection!!

Season 3 was probably the best overall season. It also had "I... am breaking up with YOU" and the Keith Hernandez one "Back... and to the left", and the Cashmere Sweater with the Red Dot, and the Limo "She's a Nazi, George. A Nazi!" So many great lines in this show!

This happened to me recently. I was 30 minutes late to pick up my multi-day car rental. The guy at the rental car location said they only hold the car for 30 minutes, never mind the fact that 1) they never told me that, 2) I was about to take the car for 4 days so who cares if I was 30 minutes late to pick it up, and 3) they could have given me the courtesy of a call before they decided to give away my car. So when I showed up to pick up my Corolla, all they had left was a pick-up truck!
