It's so hard to pick one out because as you said their colors can change so much but it looks like you know your stock and those dark ones can turn out to look really nice, I would say go with your gut feeling on picking them out because you would know better than us, I was going to pick my favorites out and started making my choices as you were showing them and I picked out almost every fish, goes to show how much I know Lol I think I would just grow them all out a little more and then try to pick, boy this isn't easy, Thanks for the mention of my channel Chris.

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching your video, I'm doomed Lol the guy at Blackwater creek told me to hold on to the grey ones he said they color up in his bloodline but I told him in other goldfish bloodlines that I had they would stay grey but he said not in ours, I think he's full of it but will see.

I think my picks would be no. 3, I don't know why, it just has an "it" factor 😅. No. 7 if the black stays, and no. 11 looks fantastic from the top down view. The adult at 5:59 is *amazing* looking, and I really like the one at the end that's all white with only orange/red markings all over--beautiful! You know me, I suck at picking because they're all SO good. I do really like the white break in the middle, makes the fish looks really nice! # 3 & 4 I love, you get a bit of all the colouring in one. # 5 definitely a great pattern, will look sharp in a pond moving about # 7 and 8 I personally love too, I like the black on red mixed in with other stubbunkins that are blue. # 11 is just stunning. I'll start digging a bigger pond in April 😆 All of these fish today look incredible, you do a fantastic job of selecting and breeding. It's an honour to have some!

My top pick is #5 just love that defined red & white separation. Then #8.. the fins!! 😘beautiful! Then #10. I like the blue that hopefully will develop on top. The males are stunning. Love that Dalmatian spotted one. Fins are gorgeous!

5-8-10. My picks for colour and finnage. As you know I only recently got into Shubbies after I moved my Koi to their new pond. Colour and fins are my top characteristics of Shubunkins. Great video showing other characteristics that I haven’t paid attention too, thanks Stubbs. As for a name for your fish, it’s all about the spelling…Stubbies Shubbies, or Stubbys Shubbies!!

I really like the ibcs. I cut off the frames and tub tops right below the second rung down and flipped the top over making a nice sized shallow tub about 10" deep with it's own frame. Then I flipped the frame over on the lower deep section and fastened it with screws to the base. That way it also has a horizontal bar around the top. I lined up the deep sections a little over three feet apart and set the shallow sections on top bearing across the spaces between the deep tubs. I put a row of plastic perforated pond planters in the back of the shallow tubs and filled them with pea gravel. Then I use a cheap 300 gph submersible pump in each deep tub that pumps up to it's own shallow tub on top to a spray bar across the planters. I put an overflow pipe in the top tub circulating back to the lower tub. I experimented with various marginals in the planters, and they grow like mad, especially irises, reeds and mint. My tub's water used to turn pea green in the summer, but now stay clear with those fast growing plants sucking up the nutrients. I do also put a large foam filter in each deep tub to help with filtering until the plants get going good in the spring. A screened covered wood frame lid for the shallow tubs is a must. Herons and coons will find the fry growing in that clear water, and wipe them out. Guess how I know. I even caught a garter snake in the act that had crawled up into the upper tub. Now how did he know what was up there? The whole row of tubs are off the ground sitting on cinder blocks. Clear plastic greenhouse sheets make good lids in the spring helping the water to warm up a little quicker.

Excellent shubies you have there. I'm not going to pick favorites, I see too many I like. I brought mine in a little late from outside that were in the ibcs, as it was getting cold enough that ice was forming. After acclimating them to the inside warmth and feeding them good for a few weeks they went into spawning mode, and I quickly separated the males from the females. I have several plastic barrels I've cut in half to start fry in, and plan to put together two different spawns in the next couple weeks. I'm planning to first put together my best looking female Wakin with three of the best looking male Wakins. Then after about three weeks I plan to use my nicest female Shubunkin with my nicest male Wakins, in a project to make calico Wakins. It will be interesting to see what kind of patterns I get from the cross. My Shubunkins don't have near as nice patterns as yours, but maybe some nice patterns will come out in the cross. I don't expect to get any double tails in the f1s, and probably they will have short fins. Putting the breeders together this early should give me a good long growing season this year.

I usually bring mine in around the beginning of October I am glad you liked them. I was thinking of doing the same with a female Wakin.. I have a distributor who wants some. Would love to cross them with a few of my male shubbies I would love to see your set up and livestock I hope to build a small indoor pond but it will just keep my adult shubunkin freeing up a few 90 gallon fish for others Thanks so much for your kindness and support. While they all have some good traits my personal choices if I was choosing would be #3, #8 and #10, in that order. I like to colours, patterns and length of fins which for me in shubunkin is very important. Without the long fins, at least to me, they are just speckled goldfish and not overly appealing. It will be interest to see how they develop over the next few months.

For me the top 3 would be 3, 2, & 10... I don't like the red/orange, too much and it might as well be a feeder comet... Also don't like too much white... mainly blacks and blues broken up by no more than 25% red, and no more than 40% white... Just my 2¢
