Selfish Idiot in a van seems to hate cyclists.

8 жыл бұрынI honestly don't understand people like this. It MUST be obvious to him that I want to get over to the left of the lane to filter past the traffic over Tower Bridge. He seems to be deliberately trying to stop me doing that though. WHY?
This was the first that I had seen the van, I had not cut him or ANYTHING before this video.
Letting me go across in front of him would have not delayed him a second.
When he comes to a stop and do move across in front of him he actually revs his engine - presumably trying to scare me into not going past.
Seriously, what are these people's problem with cyclists??

Sad to say that my van driving dad often does things like this, his reasoning is often ''just because I can''. It's the attitude of many unfortunately, if they're not moving, they don't want anyone else to be moving. :/

To be honest, I'm wondering at what point he even realised you were beside him. Judging by the state of the front of his van, I'm guessing he's not the most observant of drivers.

What we need to contemplate is the out-right banning of the internal combustion machine for personal use in our urban communities. Let's put a final end to the traffic congestion, and the pollution. Let's make our cities livable again! :) Peace & Pedal Power Forever

Is it just me or does the driver seem to have issues with merging? It's as if he resents the black vehicle in front of him trying to get in lane.

bigblokeonabike As far as I saw, he was looking forward the entire time. Traffic needs to work together, but not everything is intended spitefully. You weren't ahead of him at any time, so you could have (should have?) filtered behind him.

+Inline Downhill Vancouver I agree, he's being overly judgemental. Traffic doesn't revolve around him and he had plenty of space to continue filtering on the right hand side. He's just being a bit whiney here.

+HereInOxford plenty of room? You mean with the kerbs in the middle of the road and the oncoming traffic on the narrowing road? The guy was being deliberately obstructive. Letting me past would not have lost him his place in the queue, would not have cost him even a second on his journey so why not let me past? He's deliberately trying to piss people off. What is the point?

+bigblokeonabike There wasn't a curb when you started shouting at him. You were being deliberately confrontational and acting all entitled (sorry if you don't like that) but just look at it impartially. You could have just fallen in behind easily and you wouldn't have lost any time at all

bigblokeonabike He has no obligation to satisfy your wish to filter....You filtered in front of him anyway, so you had to wait a couple more seconds, get over it. I suppose its like when a car overtakes a cyclist.

bigblokeonabike Why do you say that? I drive with the utmost consideration for cyclist, going out of my way to give a wide berth. This van driver has every right to be on the road just as much as you just because he didn't immediately jump out of your way and continued to drive forward in traffic makes him selfish.....Oh please, come on. You really need to take a long look at yourself in the mirror.

He is going out of his way to inconvenience me - not just not letting me past but revving his engine to intimidate me. No he didn't HAVE to let me past but the fact that he doesn't want me to go past makes him a selfish arsehole. You defending him makes me think that you would do the same thing and makes me think that you too are a selfish aresehole. If you wouldn't do that and you do in fact give cyclists plenty of room and are a considerate driver then no you're not a selfish arsehole.

Let's assume he did not see you... is that good driving? Not being aware of a cyclist on your right side? Tailgating car in front? He did not move to the right with the traffic so I assume he was half in the cycle lane.

Look at how close you are, I thought cyclists need lots of room when cars overtaking, funny space isn't an issue when you're overtaking.

you're correct. It isn't an issue when a slow moving bike is passing a stationary vehicle. Thanks for confirming that you know absolutely nothing about what you're commenting on.
