The Last Samurai visits Heian Jingu shrine in Kyoto, and introduces the most traditional Setsubun festival in Japan. Setsubun is the previous day of the first spring day in Lunar calendar. ( Early February.) In this kind of change of the season, demons appear. So we throw beans against demons to chase them out of our territory. This is Setsubun festival. In Heian Jingu shrine, they do exactly the same way as the one in the 8th century. You can enjoy how the festival was 1200 years ago to see this episode. And you can also enjoy the battle against demons.
